BEST breakfast sandwichs In Basking Ridge. Amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I have never had a bad meal or experience at the Mockingbird Café. The staff is friendly and well trained and Tom and Cathy make sure youre 120% satisfied with your meal and visit. Saturday and Sunday mornings are busy, but well worth the wait. They have a phenomenal breakfast menu; lemon ricotta pancakes or Dutch babies are my two favorite. I always get their Ruben for lunch (also the best Ruben in Basking Ridge) and for dinner, lobster Mac and cheese. 11 out of 10. You will not be disappointed!

Only went for breakfast, the food was great but half of the things on the menu were sold out! gave it a second shot, same items were sold out, by the third time we went we were told that those items were pretty much never available. why would you advertise things on your menu that you never have. Pretty much a waste of a 2nd and third trip considering it wasnt close to where i lived. dont go there expecting a wide variety of pastries, the only thing they have out on the counter are their homemade muffins which were just ok.

Ordered Dutch babies pancakes and all I got was nothing more than an undercooked "saute" cake batter with berries on top. Food way overpriced and misrepresented on the menu. Service was OK, except I even had to ask for syrup and ketchup with my eggs. Watch out for false advertisements. Better luck going down the street instead. Nice looking place though. Id rather the food be better than a good setting, even though the place smelled like a bad nursing home..

Lovely place, great food, wonderful staff - but two big challenges to eating here: its very small (and so often crowded) and their hours can be difficult to navigate. They close down for several hours in the afternoon, which always seems to be either just before, or just after, I arrive. I assume its nothing personal, but their closing down in the middle of the day needs to be taken into account when planning... You might arrive only to be turned away!

When I travel for work, I love to try and find interesting breakfast places instead of going for the typically sub-par hotel offerings. Mockingbird cafe has to rank as one of my Top 10 best breakfast places. LOVED the french toast which they cover in rice krispies (sounds strange, but gives a perfect texture). Scrambled Eggs were cooked to perfection. Definitely give a try for anyone craving a top notch breakfast.

A favorite for breakfast, this small local spot is an institution. The cowboy skillet, with its buttery and salty biscuit, is near perfection, while the Big Bad Breakfast serves up sublime pancakes and sizzling sausages. Be patient with the wait-staff, who are all students. Be prepared to wait for one of the few tables during peak hours, or call ahead for a reservation for parties of five or more.

The breakfast menu is definitely better than the lunch menu. Lunch is still delicious but it doesnt compare to the lemon ricotta pancakes, ridge granola or the cowboy skillet. I try to come here at least once a month for breakfast but if you get there too late the wait can take up to an hour. Ive never been here for dinner but over all its an amazing place with reasonable prices.

Their food is pretty good, but thats about it. Everything else needs serious improvement. The place needs a good cleaning and new paint job. The dishes and cups are chipped and very worn looking. Yesterday, I was served coffee in a cup that had a large chunk missing as if someone had taken a bite out of it. The place is run by kids and the service is very poor.

This is the spot to get breakfast in the Basking Ridge area. There is usually a pretty long wait, but the food is great. My favorite is the breakfast skillet which has the perfect combination of crispy potatoes and a sunny side up egg. The bacon is great to. I only wish the restaurant were a little bigger.

The food is great but for a small 11 table restaurant with 8 servers, the service is awful. There were 3 of us. Entrees each came out 6 minutes apart. Once orders were placed none of the 8 servers came over to see if we needed anything. I had to ask for more coffee which the server then forgot about.

Nice friendly staff and nice environment, but menus had water stains and the water jugs they gave us had a dirt line around the rim that I wiped onto my finger. Burger was ordered medium and was dry and a little overcooked. Dont think beef is fresh. Bacon overcooked dont think it was cooked to order.

What a fabulous restaurant. Went today to pick up lunch for a couple and they said that they were absolutely the best sandwiches they ever had. The service was courteous, pleasant and super fast. The chef was also smiley and happy. We will recommend in the future.

Amazing food & staff! Bacon was nice and crispy. Rest of the food was delicious and served in a timely manner. Its a small, home feel, great ambiance place. Theres a wait, but thats with all great things. So, Id recommend you to call first.

Food is really good, but a bit pricey. Place is quaint with great atmosphere. Get there early on the weekends or prepare to wait. Staff is young and inexperienced, but extremely organized and friendly. Definitely go if youve never been.

Excellent food served by a terrific staff. Small in-demand restaurant though, so you may have to wait for a table if you dont get there early. Menu has lots of unique options. Worth the wait!

Always a favorite, everything Ive ordered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is fresh and delicious. Especially love the soups and desserts. Additional outdoor seating on a quiet street is nice.

Always a wait (we usually go around brunch time on weekends). The food is great (taylor ham, egg, and cheese is my go-to), and the staff is always friendly. Downtown Basking Ridge landmark.

Had breakfast there this morning (December 30, 2014). Ordered the "Clean up Aisle 3" breakfast and it was great. Have to add, though, that the coffee is the absolute best! Happy New Year!

The food is great, but the beverages are not. Outstanding breakfasts, but the coffee and orange juice is not good. Excellent pancakes and steak & eggs!

Probably one of the top 5 breakfast places in the state. The largest drawback is the wait, otherwise... its pretty amazing food that is very fresh.

The ambience is great and so is the service but the food is very average and it is definitely overpriced. They charge you for the experience.

After reading all the good reviews about this place we were disappointed. Cute place but the food was nothing special.

Cozy space. Good food. A bit disorganized. Probably because entire staff is high school girls, not professionals.
