I am writing this review in contrast to some of the excellent reviews posted on the site of which I choose this restaurant for a special Saturday evening date. I already knew that this was a small café; but I expected excellent service and the best of French food, for which I was more than willing to give up the lack of space, table cloths, decorum, and some other niceties. We choose from the menu as we were not told of any specials. The best part of the meal was the Salad with walnuts, figs, goat cheese etc. This was more than ample for two people and we shared it. For the entrée we choose the Salmon and Duck plates both at $26. The duck was delivered on a bed of soggy French fries, no other vegetable. The duck was overcooked, like a stew, and was tasteless. The Salmon was nicely prepared on a salad / vegetable bed; but the piece was so small that it provided only a few mouthfuls or just enough to get a taste. Finally we had the Flan for dessert, which looked like it was commercially made with a few blueberries for adornment. We concluded with a cappuccino, which was tasty. I am not trying to discourage you only preparing your expectations. One thing that I want to mention is that we were charged more than the price listed on the menu for the salad, so be prepared to check the charges.

Me and a friend of mine from out of town came to this establishment this past Saturday at 11:30a. It was busy but we got a table. The food we ordered came in pretty good time at 12pm and was good, and we were enjoying ourselves. One of the waitstaff men who was not even ordering for our table decides to bring us the check and promptly told us that he needed the table. I exclaimed to the person that I was still waiting for a portion of my order and he stormed away. When what I ordered finally came I realized I didnt order something for my mother to go and I asked my tableperson for the order who then sneered at me. The people at the table next to me came in way before I did and not once did either of the waitstaff men asked them to move. They left about 10 minutes before my party and I did at 12:30p. But not before one of the woman waitstaff comes to my table telling me that they didnt charge me for the very first thing I ordered and where is the first charge that I left on the tray with the first waitstaff man. Very nasty service and unprofessional. An embarassment to the Montclair community!

When you walk into the store the place is very relaxing. Even though I missed brunch I can see how people rave here for the brunch meals. Their burger was $15 (pork with bacon). I would not pay $15 when I compare this with bare burger but the taste of the meal was good overall. The only thing I would improve is their customer service. I dont think its cool for the chef to interrupt 4 people enjoying their meals and make a big fuss about a simple misunderstanding on food orders. It really did leave all of us a bad impression since 3 of your customers come here often. They were the same people who recommended me that I must go here. Pro-Amazing food and great decor Con- Pricey meals, not the best customer service

Everything organic and local and free of xyz, which is good. The food is cooked very well in an interesting, rustic setting. Inn or recent trip, the torta was piping with flavor from all of the spices in the chorizo. The coconut French toast was a little underwhelming in flavor, but they gave me some maple syrup which added the sweetness I was looking for. The staff is very nice except for the bus boy who was clueless. Well go again, but have to be in the mood to spend 50 dollars for breakfast and coffee for two.

Love this place and food. . Quaint and chic with delicious food and a lot of vegan choices. The owner chef and his wife have a passion for food and work hard to please their guests. As it is small the tables are very close together and if you have a loud diner next to you it can be difficult but it is worth the trip to go and a great date night place. I have been there for breakfast and dinner and they serve lunch. Nice small intimate find!

Ive been here 4-5 times over the past year and every time its good. The atmosphere is nice (maybe a little crowded, but its still quaint). The food has always been good, and Ive ordered a variety of things. I appreciate that they try to serve local food. My only complaint was that once or twice the music was too loud to comfortably carry on a conversation. Definitely recommend!

What a beautiful cafe! So many tasty choices and the setting is quaint and welcoming. My quick bite turned into a leisurely meal of roasted beets black beans avocado slices, tomato on a brioche bun drizzled with a lime cilantro dressing. Served with perfectly crispy yet fluffy fries. They even served chic herbs de provence ketchup. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Went for bunch on a Tuesday. Pros: Seating was ideal. Good selection of great tasting drinks. Food was well made and quickly delivered, with some great options for small eats. Cons: With an open kitchen, the seating area got smoky for a bit. Some of the décor, while nice, didnt seem thoughtful (like Christmas lights around the window taped instead of stapled)

Salbuen is not a word. You cant just add "le" in front of something to make it sound French and expect this to be ok. If you want to make up a word, fine. Dont try to fool us into thinking it exist s by appending a foreign article.

Love this cafe. Vegetarian friendly and the food is always fresh. Even the simple things like the sweet potato toast is made with care- garnished with pumpkin seeds and kale. One of my favorite spots in Montclair.

This is the best breakfast in ny/nj. The food is only outmatched by the decor and staff. Its the rare kind of place that makes you feel like youre right at home.

The waitress was great, and I liked the food. A little pricey, is my only real problem. I had the Indian, curry chicken dish.
