This was my first time dining at Sofias because one of our friends had recommended it. The hostess greeted us upon entering, showed us to our table, offered to take my dates cost and gave her a ticket. Standard stuff. The lighting was nice, and the place reminded me of the episode of everybody loves raymond when they all went to Italy, although its a greek restaurant. The waiter was charming and told us about a few special items he recommended from the menu. We received our water first, and then our bread, which was toasted perfectly, just a single loaf but good. It came with a greek oil mixture that was quite tasty. Bread worked well throughout the meal for dipping. My date had the house salad that was a quarter head cut in two pieces, topped appropriately in tomatoes, bacon, and caesar dressing (no ranch available) that she substituted from blue cheese. I felt it was a wise move. The dressing had a good flavor and not too overpowering which mixed well with the rest. For an appetizer I had the Souvlaki (chicken on skewers). The chicken was grilled well, not dry, came with a small greens mix in vinaigrette, and Tzatziki (The greek cucumber sauce) which was excellent! Each item on this plate stood on its own yet complemented each-other. Very happy with this. For a main course, my date had the Seafood Plaki which arrived in a Volcano Shaped dish. I wasnt too impressed by it. Plating was something of a crock pot. Everything inside seemed too light in flavor, probably could have used some salt, however the shrimp were semi pre-cooked/seasoned on the grill before being added to this dish and tasted amazing. I had the Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass with Wild Mushroom Risotto, Asparagus, and Jumbo Lump Crab meat on top. Platting was well done, and appealing for fine dinning. The risotto was on point and asparagus was good. The lump crab meat on top was perfect, and the bass itself melted in your mouth. The sauce they used on the plate had excellent flavor and complemented the bass perfectly, but I do wish there was more of it. I didnt think we could eat another bite after the size of everything. However after the meal we were treated with a small desert tray, complements of the chef :) "Who says no to free dessert?!" The tray consisted of cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, grapes, and two small pieces of Baklava. The fruits were sweet and strawberries were exceptional! Baklava was excellent; not too heavy or sweet. I felt like I could still eat it after the substantial meal we had.

The service was excellent. The waiter was the nicest guy ever and the rest of the staff too. The food and the owner.. Not so much. I had booked a large dinner for 12-15 people for work, unfortunately due to some bridge being out, not all of them showed up. I think the owner was pissed but its not my fault the bridge is closed down and I didnt find out until I arrived. Appetizers were ok.. No real issues with those. The filet mignon was the awful. It tasted like it was soaked in Salt overnight and laced in salt again. It wasnt just mine, 4 of us had it and we all said the same thing. We tell the waiter and he says the owner will look into it. Well, she does nothing and says nothing. Doesnt even offer desert. On top of I dont know how on earth she had the balls to charge $100 a head for this when I went to Old Homestead in the Borgata the night before and had arguably the best filet Ive ever had for $48. But I agreed to it so I didnt say anything. FYI the desert was like 2 pieces of candy and 2 small slices of melon. It was laughable what they brought out. However I NEVER agreed to a 20% gratuity. Now let me preface this by saying.. I always tip 20%, however my company only allows 18% . Because the waiter was so nice of threw him a $20 out of my own pocket and asked the owner to reduce the gratuity to 18%. So after literally, no exaggeration 30 minutes I have to go and find her and she cannot figure out how to take off $12 off the bill. It doesnt sound like a big deal but I have to follow my company guidelines. So you know what she has the balls to do? She raises the price of the food, then lowers the gratuity so its came out the original same amount of the bill! Hand to God.. Ive never seen anyone do anything as shady as this before when someone drops $800 on dinner. Will never do business with them again.

Went there for the fist time last night and LOVED everything from the food, atmosphere, service and live music. Started off with scallops Sofia and crab cake appetizer that was dynamite. For the main course, we had Pasta Sofia, a penne mixed with mushrooms, grilled chicken breast, spinach, roasted red peppers, in a porcini cream sauce. AMAZING! The other was the char-grilled choice center-cut 8 oz. Filet Mignon with roasted garlic smashed potatoes, grilled asparagus with port demi glaze. That was another 5 star meal as well. After dinner, we moved over to the bar for the live entertainment. The bartenders were extremely nice, courteous and A+ service. The music and the atmosphere was amazing. Ended up there for 3 1/2 hours and only left because the place was closing... lol That is now one of our new favorite spots down the shore.

While the food was great and the restaurant was very nice, I must say that the portions were tiny! I ordered a steak meal that came with a tiny cut of steak and a side of squash that was smaller than the size of my spoon! There was no salad included with my meal either. My girlfriend ran into a similar problem with her tiny sized meal as well. For the prize of this place, its just not worth it. When I go out I want tasty food AND a large enough portion with bread and salad so that I dont have to order two meals (and no Im not some overweight person that stuffs his face).

Ive dined here several times last summer when I was spending a short time in Longport. Its underrated. Nice atmosphere. Not clicky or too "sceney" or "clubby". Good food, great atmosphere and ambience. Very attractive place! I like that I do not feel like Im at the shore when I dine there. - It feels as if Im on vacation in another place. I have a few friends that are a part of the Sofia team, and they certainly do not disappoint. May I also add, Im very partial to the name Sofia. Its one of my favorite names! Buon Appetito!!

We went to Sofia to partake in their restaurant week specials and it was ah-maz-ing. Our server was very knowledgable about the menu and answered any questions we had. I ordered the duck and my husband had fish (cant remember what kind now). Both entrees were considerably larger than I was expecting and we had plenty to eat and some to take home. The dessert was rich and delicious. I would definitely recommend Sofia for a special night out and for their unique cuisine

Visited this restaurant with a party of 10, for a girlfriends bday. We were VERY impressed with the venue, food, customer service - everything! Five star restaurant! I ordered the Belgian Endive salad - amazing... And Lamb chops for my main course. I always order meats medium well, and chances are it ends up coming out cooked wrong. Here though - Chef Phil was amazing. Cooked to medium well perfection yet still so tasty and tender! A+++++++ rating from our table :)
