I read the other reviews, so Maplewood Diner (owner), dont placate this review with "Im sorry we didnt meet your expectations. Well try to improve". Your diner was terrible, and judging from the food and your silly answers to dissatisfied customers, youll be out of business within a year. I took my family there. Two kids, wife, and mother-in-law. The burger and the tuna melts were awful. The burger isnt fresh, it was a frozen Restaurant Depot burger. The Cole slaw, spinach dip, French fries, French toast, and pickles were all the bulk pre-frozen crap you can expect to be served at a carnival or school cafeteria. Positively, without any doubt, none of the food we ate was prepared on-premises. It was all pulled from a freezer, reheated and served. I suggest the owner not try fib about where the food comes from...and instead just takes his lumps and improve his terrible establishment. This diner is overpriced, underwhelming, and my entire family needed tums after the meal. In fact the entrees were so abhorrent that we decided against ordering dessert and left our plates almost untouched. Even my son didnt eat his hotdog, that was really in fact, a sausage. My daughter was served pre-made French toast that was positively NOT made fresh. She now has a stomach ache. The syrup they serve with it contains no maple syrup - Its artificial pancake syrup product. This Maplewood Diner is an embarrassment, and should not be allowed to bear the name of our great town. Parkwood Diner is much better and everything Parkwood serves is delicious. What made this meal worst of all was when we paid. The grey haired man at the register didnt even ask us how our meal was, which demonstrated the worst "feature" of all; apathy by the management. Maplewood diner, may you serve your last meal soon and fade into oblivion, never to be thought of again. Your diner is a blight to all the burgeoning businesses sprouting on Springfield avenue

On December 31, 2016, myself and my boyfriend went to the Maplewood Diner for dinner. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and he ordered the Turkey Meatloaf with cranberry. When our food came, I did not get my shrimp scampi instead I think I got either shrimp marsala or shrimp francesca. I told the waitress that this was not shrimp scampi and she insisted it was. The waitress came back and ask how was the food, I told her the food taste like it had either dish detergent or clorox. She did nothing to rectify the problem other than to apologize and walk away. When I spoke to the Manager George F. (could not understand his writing) he said that it was a mix up with my order and another customer, he told the waitress to bring my food back and he would make my shrimp scampi, the waitress never said or did anything he told her. When I told him how the food tasted he apologize and took the blame. Whatever, he gave me a card with his signature for a free dinner. I told him I would not be back. He said the waitress was young and he did not want to yell at her. I told him that it has nothing to do with yelling. On January 1st, 2017 I ended up in the emergency room at St. Barnabas hospital with severe stomach pain. The doctor said it was a stomach virus, but in my OPINION I HAD FOOD POISONING. NEVER WOULD I EAT OR RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS DINER. JUST MY OPINION.

I decided to stop at the diner while I was out running errands because I was super hungry. I ordered the spinach dip, chicken fingers, and fried zucchini. My mother had a gyro with fries. As soon as the food came to the table, my mother noticed her french fries were soaked in grease. She asked for fresher fries. So my greedy self go on to start eating. The chips to the dip were chewy, my zucchini was mushy, and the chicken fingers taste like old grease. You can smell the vile scent of the food so I sent back WHOLE orders. The owner became upset because I wanted them to take it off the bill (they offered to replace the food with something different). I ordered 3 things what you want me to order more so you can charge me for that order too? He then told the waitress to give me the bill. I would have understood if I ate a portion of the food but I tasted it my mother tasted and said send it back. YOU CAN NOT JUST SERVE PEOPLE ANYTHING AND SAY ITS JUST NOT YOUR TASTE OR LIKING OLD FOOD IS OLD FOOD. BEING RUDE IS JUST NOT A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS PRACTICE BECAUSE YOU COULDVE JUST STAYED CLOSE. The manager was nice but the owner was a jerk. My mother paid the bill (with about 20% off)to be a peace maker but I was not paying it and Im still hungry!

Service was horrible. I ordered the Eggplant Parm which was stringy and tough and definitely not worth the wait or the price. This establishment burned down some years ago and Id swear the Eggplant I received was a victim of said fire. My companion ordered the Western Omelette which was passable but hardly worth the 40 minute wait. If it was crowded I could have understood the wait but considering there were only five tables occupied including ours and some were already eating when we arrived with two waitresses, one host, and one manager on the floor I can only say EPIC FAIL! Granted they just reopened but if first impressions are any indicator....miss this painful experience and dine elsewhere.

I went to support the new opening of the Maplewood diner. I asked for baked ziti and i got penne pasta noodles with a ladle of old sauce and a handful of cheese on top it wasnt fresh and it wasnt baked. The desserts look awesome i ordered 3 1 boston cream cake and two of the little round dessert pastries (the black & white ,nutella )which have cake in them . The cream in all are perfect but the cake it gritty and dry no flavor ive never had such a Gritty like Grits cake. No bueno , no good looks so delicious but disappointed in the cake part of it please add mor liqids eggs heavy cream or somthing because thats not cake!!!! I Bake and thats not it..

Came to the Maplewood Diner with my family at 2am on 1/4/16. Not busy at all and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was okay, she seemed new and missed minor details such as cheese on our hamburgers and mustard. We also ordered coffee which she forgot and we had to ask for silverware. The space was extremely clean and the decor was friendly and typical of the diner atmosphere. The food was decent (hamburger, egg sandwich, mozz sticks, and chicken fingers) the chicken fingers were ridiculously expensive $15 for a basket of fries and 3 strips of chicken?! Overall it seems like the diner is trying but it absolutely has some room for improvement.

Ordered a cheeseburger, well had to send it back ,tasted like low class meat. Had lipton tea but red gold ketchup. Really!!! The manager said the meat was excellent n came from new york.well if he thought that was good Id hate to eat at his house! He was highly insulted. Sorry but, I am a meat eater I know good meat when I taste it. All I can say is stay away from their cheeseburgers . Or you can chance it n taste for your self. Oh n the ketchup he said was his own brand. Didnt wasnt to chance that. Oh but he did have Heinz in little packets, terrible. Only gave him 1,star because they didnt have a 0 stars
