Happy accident finding this place. Mom and I were in the mood for a platter of oysters and saw the fish market next door. We just assumed the restaurant was the dining room. We had no reservations, but the hostess found us a table, even apologizing to mom for the distance from the door. A quick inspection of the menu alerted us that this might not be the simple dining experience we had in mind. Worse, there was no mention of oysters. Impressive as the menu was, no oysters would have been a deal breaker. Our server Haley told us what we wanted to hear: Yes, oysters were available. The dozen oysters that came out were fat, sweet, and perfectly shucked. We were so impressed, we decided to stay for a full dinner, and I began to regret not bringing a beer. Mom had the red snapper "stuffed" with lump crab. I opted for the panko encrusted Mahi-Mahi. Both portions were large, especially for our appetites. About the snapper: Cheaper places take a couple of small fillets and drape them over a mess of crab meat and breadcrumbs. Its a trick mom has seen too many times in her 89 laps around the sun, and she began to interrogate poor Haley until I reminded her about the oysters. I couldnt imagine a place that plated up such fine shellfish ruining the experience with diner-grade entrees. Our expectations were exceeded by the steak-sized slab of snapper. Mom was puzzling over the "knobby things" on top of and beside the fish, and I couldnt conceal my own wonderment as I explained, "Ma, thats the crabmeat "stuffing". Lump crabmeat, each about the size of my knuckle generously graced the plate in a light white sauce..and nary a breadcrumb in sight. Not to give my entree short shrift; the Mahi approached 8 ounces and the coating was light enough to add texture while letting the mild character of the fish come through. It was sauced with a nice bechamel, although I might try a bit of lemon and tabasco next time. Overall, service and execution were spot on. As mentioned, BYOB, and reservations are highly recommended. Entree prices between $20-$35. In case youre wondering, the dozen oysters were $27 and wooorrrth it! Well done, management and staff!!

What a fabulous dining experience, Brenda and myself had at Diomede. The restaurant was small, and well lit by tea light candles, The staff where pleasant and not intrusive, The steak I had was delicious, and plated with refinement, I am looking forward to sampling the rest of the menu. My wife and I ate at Restaurant Diomede a couple of weeks ago and couldnt get over how wonderful the meal was. Karen had stuffed shrimp and I had chicken marsala and both dishes along with the salads, breads, and desserts were terrific. We will recommend the restaurant to our friends and will be back this Friday.

Almost didnt want to post this, as it is a little gem of a place and I dont want to ever not be able to get a reservation. Service is always good, but its the food that continues to bring me back. With all the great restaurants in the area, this place is a must try.

Have been here a few times and each time it got worse, quality has gone down hill. My fish was rubbery and service was slow. Hope other patrons have a better experience.
