I love a good diner and I live in Forked River. I worked in Manhattan for 40 plus years and loved many of the old city eateries I wish I could say the Forked River diner fell into this category. I have been there on several occasions thinking maybe the previous was just a bad day. The out come was always the same. The portions are tragically small. The cook must count the potatoes as he serves each portion with eggs which are smaller than pigeon eggs. My last stop there was early one morning because it was the only place open where I could sit down and order breakfast. After placing my order someone came in with a take out order which must have been more important than mine. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for my meal and finally decided to leave any just pay for my coffee. Which was slightly larger than a shot glass. I was charged for a full breakfast because I had ordered it yet still had yet to eat. Oh well, live and learn. Its quaint 50s style is not worth the poor service and small portions.

Besides coffee, eggs, bacon and plenty of meatloaf, WHAT does the old, trusty diner offer? Nostalgia! Tradition! A pleasant return to the way things USED to be!! In THAT respect, The Forked River Diner didnt disappoint! I sat at the counter of the Forked River diner, this morning, and thoroughly enjoyed my blueberry pancakes, fried eggs and bottomless cup of black coffee. Why a "bottomless cup?" Because there was a pleasant waitress coming by, every few minutes, to freshen it! The wait staff, this morning, was young, friendly, courteous, professional and VERY EFFICIENT! What did the previous reviewer say about this place, its "mediocre?" I dont agree. To me, it was WONDERFUL!

This place has great food an the people that work there are really nice people. It doesnt look that great from the outside of the place because it has an old look to it. But you wont be disappointed in there food thats for sure. Its cash only but they do have an ATM. If your looking for a place thats down to earth an has good food this is for u. There prices are reasonable, cheeper then other places an a good portion of food. Its not a real busy place an its perfect for the whole family. If u havent tried this dinner then u need to u will be glad u did. Enjoy everyone!!

WORST! The worst experience of my life! NEVER AGAIN! Ive heard that it was bad, but I had no idea how bad it truly could be. I was like, "How bad could it be?" HORRIBLE! The food was disgusting! The coffee was terrible! The service! Horrendous! No smile, no greeting, just attitude and abrupt! And last, they dont accept CREDIT CARDS! How can any business not accept credit cards? Are you kidding me??? They should put that sign on the damn front door, not by the register where no one can see it! I will NEVER go there again! IHOP IS THE PLACE TO GO! Im so livid!

Love this place...everyone is friendly and good food too! Me and my family just had breakfast there for Mothers day. It was crowded as was every other restaurant but they still got us seated and our food came out quickly. No wait.
