Ive been eating at this place for over 20 years. This day I decided to take my family instead of ordering take-out which I always do. Parking was great as the lot was empty. The restaurant was not full at all and our food was excellent and came out quick. The reason for the 3 stars is for the service. Our 1st waiter had a serious attitude problem . I watched him rolling his eyes several times while each person gave him their order. I was confused. We all knew what we wanted and had very few questions about side orders and extras. After getting our food we never had any staff return to our table to check on us or our drinks. I had to call the hostess over to ask where was our waiter 4 times. She didnt know but someone from the bar came and THEY still didnt ask us anything. This guy actually behaved as if we were unnecessarily calling for help. He ALSO had a bad attitude. We asked for water in fear of having to wait long for refills of our sodas. Upon finishing our meal we still had no one come and check on us. I had to call the hostess again and I begged her "Madame can you find a waiter for us? " I wanted the check because I was so done with the attitudes and being ignored. Another guy came from the bar as I watch the hostess interrupt him cheering some game on TV, and I asked him about a waiter . He apologizes and States the waiter is on a lunch break. You mean to tell me that you dont have coverage for tables for staff breaks? Its 230pm why is he even on a break? Where is the replacement for him? 3 of your are watching TV now!! The restaurant is 30% full!!! You cant just drop customers because you have a break. What kind of business is this? I literally paid the bill and told him to keep the $2 in change . I will N E V E R take my family here again. In one day our 20 year relationship is over. I dont know if it was a race issue, a business issue or ignorance but I didnt appreciate being abandon as a paying customer.

Food is good but customer service is terrible. The girl that answers the phone is rude. I dealt with them 2 times. One time I ordered my food for pickup and when a coworker went to go get it they gave him the wrong food. I called and instead of apologizing she said to come back and get my food but I would have to pay for the second meal. The second time I dealt with them my Fiancé went in to order food and he ordered me a side of vegetables - he didnt have any cash on him to pay (the minimum to use the card is $10) so he was going to run out grab the cash from me and run back, so in the meantime he cancelled the order. Since the place was busy from the lunch rush he told me to call my order in and hell run back and get it with the cash when he it was done. When I called in the order the girl on the phone told me I could not order vegetables with my order, however when my Fiancé was there 10 minutes prior they let him order the side of vegetables. So I asked her if I was there in person I could order vegetables and now I cant for a take out. She got an attitude with me and said she didnt know what I was talking about and her superiors told her she cant give me vegetables - wtf kind of business is this??? Stay away

So we go in and the waiter goes about his business setting tables obviously ignoring us. Keep in mind there were only two customers at the time as we got in rifht before noon. He was so difficult to understand and not because of the language barrier because were bilingual but because he was just not putting any effort into communication. Took forever to get our drinks which were sodas only. So yeah all the food was mice and hot but tasted like nothing, nothing at all. I ordered paella and what i got was boiled rice. The chefs put no effort whatsoever to create a delicious dish. Same goes for my wives dish and my kids. Never came to ask us how we were doing? Walked passed us at a certain point while our cups were empty and didnt ask us if we needed more. Complete disappointment. Wont be eating there for years to come. Valenca is right down the block. 1

I had the most amazing experience on Saturday night. The food was excellent & the service was great. I dont live in NJ, but I travel from Pa to visit family frequently & will make it a pointe to eat here when Im in the area. Our waiter Hector was the best waiter I have ever had at any restaurant, not only was he attentive, but he has the best personality & his humor left me with stomach pains from laughter. If youre looking for a great experience I recommend you eat here. We stayed for 4 hours talking and laughing and enjoying the atmosphere. I would give 10 stars, but 5 is the limit. Thank you again Hector I will see you on my next trip.

Hate to judge a place on poor service but I waited over an hour from the time I ordered my food. When I went up after waiting for awhile they said "oh well if youre waiting that long you should say something." No apology for their error. I then waited another 15 minutes to get my food after that. I thought, at least this place is supposed to be good. And then I was underwhelmed with bland food. Good pricing for the amount of food but be prepared to add lots of spices yourself. Better off making the same dish at home.

I go there for take out. Its a local favorite. Fresh food reasonably priced. The ladies behind the counter are always pleasant even though they are tremendously busy all the time. The cooks do a fantastic job keeping up with the demand. I dont think the wait time is unreasonable. I would give this place five stars if it werent for the parking situation. It is almost impossible to find a legal parking spot and during peak it is difficult to find an illegal parking spot. Still it is worth the trouble.

Food is great!! Affordable (for lunch that is). A lot of food is served. The flan and rice pudding are delicious!!!! One lady from the take out side is very nice and friendly but the restaurant section is not like her, unfortunately. They are not rude just disconnected. Regardless, I still recommend people to go to Algarve. When you hold an event at Algarve, the staff that handle that, are AMAZING!!!!! They are friendly, very nice and they make sure that you have everything!!!

I was visiting from Chicago and ended up at this establishment. The menu at first glance seems a bit overpriced but once those portions come out, wow. We ordered 4 entrees for 4 people but shouldve done 2 plates for 4 people. The food was great and portions will leave you saying wow. Part of the place is for takeout and the other is for dine-in. It was a little tricky getting into the parking lot if your not from the area but other than that great place.
