Today I went to eat lunch at the Rice Shop on Paterson Ave in East Rutherford. I ordered a bowl of won-ton soup, a shrimp noodle, and a main course of shrimp in oyster sauce. The food tasted fine and while I was leaving I was at the register and I could see behind the cashier through the opened curtain and into the small kitchen.What I saw repulsed me, a young man who was trying to remove a cardboard box from the frozen chicken that was inside the box, put it on the floor, chicken side on the floor. And with his dirty black stained sneaker trying to squeeze it between the chicken and cardboard and the floor. As the chicken pieces on the floor were sliding back and forth over the floor I YELLED at him to stop that and the cashier now forgot any English she new and made like it wasnt happening as she tried to pull the curtain back over the doorway.These are filthy people and your food is being treated poorly at best. I will never eat here again and I would advise you not to eat here also. You cannot imagine what they do when no one sees. i reported them to the E.Rutherford health Dept. And the woman there said she would look into it. Who knows, the only way to close such slime holes is to refuse to eat there. Hope this helps in your decision!

The Worst. About 5-6 people from our department ordered General Tso chicken and other chicken dishes for lunch including myself. As soon as I ate, I felt dehydrated and had a terribly upset stomach. I didnt mention it to anyone thinking it was only me, but people started complaining and asking if anyone felt the same. Everyone who ate the food eventually were sent home from work because they felt very sick. Its either the chicken was not fresh or now Im even wondering if it was even chicken to begin with. Never ordering food from here again. Please order with caution and only if your stomach is made of steel.

The food here is much better quality than most take out places. Small dining area, but very good for take out. Their hot and sour soup is very good, it is hard to find a place that makes it right, but Rice Shop does it quite well. They also have unique dishes like chicken and basil. Extensive health food menu with great sauces. Everything I get here continues to be excellent.

Our first item on the order was not delivered and when we called them to let them know they argued that we never told them about the item and wouldnt deliver it. They were abrasive on the phone and are not worth dealing with.

quality of food not what it used to be. orders get messed up a lot. delivery forgets important items, for example, the sweet and sour sauce for sweet and sour chicken.
