I found the Chesterfield Inn looking for a restaurant to host the Repast luncheon for my late mother. I had family flying in and wanted a place that was warm & welcoming, and the fact it was built in 1710 was a plus being my mother loved all things colonial. I had a very nice lunch and asked to speak with the owner. Antoinette came to my table and after I told her what I was looking for she assured me in her no-nonsense way that my family will have a great lunch with generous portions served family style. Most importantly she assured me we can take our time that afternoon and the dishes will be served in an appropriate timely fashion. Well, she did not disappoint. The food was fabulous. Everything Antoinette said would happen did happen and perfectly. We had two cheery and attentive servers whos efficiency in serving 30 people was textbook for restaurant professionals. I was surprised when she told me there were leftovers to take home. As there was enough to feed 6 more people, with seconds. Honestly I could not tell you what was more important, the food or the service as both get 5 stars from me. Every single person at my luncheon praised The Chesterfield Inn for a wonderful meal and for the relaxing, uninterrupted quality time we spent with family we had not seen in a long time. One for the memory books. Thank you so much Antoinette for being the restaurant professional you are. We could not have been happier!

I was at the Chesterfield Inn on Friday September 5th for my mother-in-laws birthday. There were four of us dinner. Service was horrendous. My mother-in-laws dinner(prime rib) was so fatty it could not be eaten. (90% was still on the plate)The wait for the food took forever. Complained to the owner, and she could have cared less! . About the service and the wait , she told us that the waitress was not in the kitcken cooking the meal.(like I did not know that) After we complained and she just walked away, you could hear her talking about us to the chef. I will never go back nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Ordered take out tonight. Was told 40 minutess. Ok its a Friday night so seems normal. We had to ask twice for our order and was told it was not done.We live close by and the food was ice cold. Was craving a burger and both it and fries were cold. Bun was hard on both burgers. The soup barely filled the pint container and tasted like a bag of flour. Its usually really good. I think just an off night as the same dish was usually very good when dining in.

After hearing what a great place this was I decided to take my wife here. I got the special which was scallops with rigatoni and the first bite into my scallops was very gritty and then I almost broke my tooth on part of the shell that wasnt removed. Everything else in the dish was drowned in oil and didnt have very much flavor at all, wasnt impressed.

Great portions , fast and courteous service, and tasty food. We sat in the bar area. Atmosphere is cozy and rustic. Didnt see any booth seating but chairs werent uncomfortable. I would certainly eat here again. Got so much fours that my in laws got a full medal too.

If you are going for food head for the dining room. If you want to hang with the locals the bar is your place. Two very different crowds but if you know what you want (good food or to hang and drink) it is a good place to visit.
