The Belford Bistro has just opened on Main Street, and what a welcome addition to the neighborhood. We have been there for brunch and dinner, and were very pleased both times. Our first visit was for dinner. We both enjoyed our starters - the Market Salad and a fabulous Scallop dish. It was apparent immediately that the food was extremely fresh and expertly prepared. For dinner, I ordered the Rack of Lamb, and was not disappointed. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his New York Strip. The only flaw was that we did not save room for dessert, as their offerings looked fantastic. We recently returned for brunch, and had an equally positive experience. I ordered the Apple Strudel French Toast and was pleasantly surprised. The French Toast itself was perfectly cooked, and complimented nicely by the fresh, warm apples and maple sauce. My husband also chose wisely - the Crab Benedict. A superior crab cake (and that is a term I do not use loosely), served on an English muffin, topped by a perfectly poached egg, and finished with an outstanding hollandaise sauce. Most of all, a fantastic brunch that is also affordable - our bill was less than $30, and this was by far the best meal we have enjoyed in a long time. The atmosphere is also a treat - an elegant room with wonderful jazz in the background. The service was professional, efficient, and friendly, but not overbearing. We were able to relax and enjoy our meal. The Belford Bistro is a BYOB establishment.

This was one of my favorite restaurants in the area. It was cozy with a Paris bistro feel. Noise level was moderate on weekends. It had a parking lot in front of the restaurant. Our favorite appetizer was Scallops with Pork belly. Scallops were well cooked, but Pork belly was the star. It was crispy and yet melt in your mouth. The crab cake appetizer was also good, but portion was a problem. They only gave you one tiny one. For pasta, you could order half portion if you did not want to eat too much. We liked Pappardelle Bolognese. Most entrees were good and you got two big crab cakes this time. But the larger crab cakes were not as good as the appetizer in terms of texture. The Black Bass Special I had last night was perfectly cooked and delicious (albeit expensive at $37). We had been here many times and service was only average. But our server Britney was terrific for our most recent visit. She was warm, attentive, and always had a big smile on her face.

There is no lower rating than 1 star. Frankly I didnt even eat there. My GF and I walked in at 7p on a Friday night to a nearly empty (no exaggeration) room and we were turned away because we had no reservations. If the chef/owner has culinary skills they missed out on front house management classes because this should not happen. Go to Red Bank, Atlantic Highlands, even Keyport and find any other place because in a strip mall in Belford sandwiched between 2 other restaurants you should not ever turn guests away. What an f***ing joke!

I drive 50 miles to get here. I have dined here at least 15 times. I have never had a dish that was less than excellent. Service personnel are pleasant and efficient. I would highly recommend.
