HORRIBLE! My boyfriend and I went to San Remo to celebrate our anniversary together. Our reservation was for 8:30pm, and we got there 10 minutes early. It was very busy and it took us 20 minutes for the hostess to even talk to us! She explained to us that it was very busy so we would have to wait since there were people waiting before us, which is fine and understandable. Within 20 minutes all of the people who were waiting before us were sat down and we were next. She told us that 3 tables had paid already and they were just waiting for them to leave. We waited an additional 20 minutes after that point when a party of 8 came in. One of the waiters spoke with them as soon as they walked through the door, and they informed him that they had a reservation. Two minutes later the hostess came out and said, "Are you guys my party of 8? Come on in!" And she sat them down. My boyfriend and I were FURIOUS considering we too had a reservation and we were waiting 45 minutes PAST our reservation and they sat down before us! We just got up and left because I did not want to cause a scene, which would have happened. We ended up driving 30 minutes back home and had our dinner at 10pm at iHop. I called the restaurant the next day and spoke with the manager, she said the reason why that happened was because they were understaffed. NEVER in my life have I heard that a party of 8 sits down BEFORE a party of 2 that was waiting there for 45 minutes before the party of 8 even walking in through the door. I will NEVER go to San Remo ever again, I have already warned all of my family and friends to never go there. They are literally the worst restaurant I have ever been to and they have no problem disrespecting their customers. That was the first and last time I will ever go to San Remo.

Summary- Horrible Service, they hold no respect for a reservation Had a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night for a family members birthday. Arrived about 5 minuted early, and they said that our tables occupants were finishing up with the check. Over the course of the next 30 minutes, the hostess would pop back in to the waiting area and say, "theyre wrapping up, theyre wrapping up, give us two minutes." After over a half an hour past our reservation, we expressed our frustration and were met with not apologies, only, "theres nothing more we can do- people are lingering." We did not want to waste any more time or give them our patronage, so we called Buona Sera, were told we could be accommodated quickly, left and had an amazing meal down the street. Cant comment on the food, never made it until the dining area even with our reservation.

Chef is back and making FRESH PASTA! Consistently delicious, we enjoy the way Giovanni prepares seafood dishes. The appetizer for two is outrageously good, and every special we have had is worthy of its name, even though the regular menu is also spectacular. Courteous and helpful, the servers attend to your needs while not making you feel rushed. This restaurant is cozy and romantic, and not as crowded as the Newman Springs Road location. A big bonus is that being near the Red Bank railroad station, parking is readily available on the street or in the lot. Perfect for pre-theatre at Two River Theater or Count Basie. The other thing we love is that it is BYOB; why pay twice as much for your favorite wine at a restaurant that has a liquor license? Make sure to make a reservation, though!!!

Have eaten at San Remo for over 20 years, but last night will be the last time. Had a 6:30 PM reservation, were seated about 6:50 PM. Appetizers came out in a reasonable time, but the main dishes did not start to come out until 8:25 PM, which was totally unacceptable. When we asked to speak with a manager, they sent over a waiter from another area of the restaurant to speak with us.....what a joke !! Our waiter, Anthony was great and kept us informed of the progress from the kitchen. There were 7 of us, and 2 of the main dishes were not correct. The food was okay but not up to what we have had in the past. People at the table next to us, who were seated at the same time we were, left at 8:30 PM because they did even receive their appetizers. San Remo has gone Down Hill.

My family & I have been coming to San Remo for 15+ years. During this time, weve never had a bad meal, never been mistreated by the staff, & none of us has even gotten sick. Have we waited for a table with a reservation? Yes, on a holiday, or at 7:30pm on a busy Saturday night. A few weeks ago, we witnessed a gentleman verbally abuse the hostess, because his table wasnt ready when he thought it should have been. She kept her cool, & did her best to accommodate him. On the flip side, weve met a lot of really nice people here. The environment lends itself to being very social. The food is consistently excellent, & the staff has always gone out of their way to ensure that we have a positive dining experience.

The experience I had last night was a 2 star. The reason it gets a 3 is because the 2 other times i have eaten here the food was great. I am not sure what happened since my last visit but I was terribly disappointed in the food. The FRIED burrata came out ice cold in the center, the chicken for my chicken parm was hard, overcooked and veiny, the cheesecake and tiramasu tasted like freezer burn and were disgusting. I am a waitress so I know better than to return my food; however, we did complain to the server and he didnt do anything to compensate our terrible dinner.

Went on christmas even with my family..service was terrible..Bruno Mars blasting on radio, no Christmas music. Entrees were served before appetizers came out. Waiter was never available and rarely checked on us. He was oblivious to the fact we hadnt received apps and even when apps came out, it was all wrong. The most amazing part was the fact we were only one of three tables in there so it wasnt crowded. Couldnt locate a manager to complain to. Place is run terrible. To make matters worse, my daughter had food poisoning the next day. I will never go back.

This was quite possibility one of the worst dining experiences ever in the history of dining out!!!! The service was awful, we had 8 oclock dinner reservations and did not get seated till almost 9pm. Our server got both of our meals wrong, the bread was not fresh and tasted like cardboard! ! The food was terrible it was a total nightmare! Totally mismanaged and the chef is awful!!!I could give it zero stars I would!!!! Stay away!!!

The food here is pretty good. There is usually a wait, but definitely worth it. I used to eat at the old location in Shrewsbury when I was younger, it was my grandmothers favorite restaurant in the area. Now with the new location in Red Bank, I made a visit with my fiancé. The atmosphere has still maintained its elegancy. BYOB keeps the price down. We met Chef Giovanni, such a great and funny personality. Cant wait to come back!
