My husband and I received gift certificates for this restaurant & stopped in for an early valentines day lunch yesterday. There were two wait people there that we saw working in our area.. Ours was extremely slow & none responsive ( comatose) the other ran around shaking the floors as she did and acting like the place was on fire ( not very relaxing for us) We ordered a few different appetizers.. the escargot was average the crab cakes were bland and the onion soup was good.. although in a rather small portion($4.99). Our actual lunches took over 20 minutes to arrive ( extremely long for a lunch dish ) My husband ordered a nightmare sandwich and it was indeed just as it was advertised. A nightmare.. again extremely small portion served in a small bowl but bowl rested on a large plate trying to give the meager meal a larger appearance ( it failed miserably) I ordered the salmon.. which was grilled, and although very good in a tiny tiny portion. It also came with a side of lumpy ( skin included) mashed potatoes. When asked how our meal was I commented on the potatoes to which our sluggish waiter made no real acknowledgement of understanding what it was I was trying to convey ( he was indeed oblivious) I had not even lifted the fork from my mouth with the last bit of salmon when he lunged at me wanting to take my plate. He brought us our check .. and then wandered the room several times.. eventually stopping in the kitchen area to have a laugh with his coworkers. Unaware of course that we sat there for over 7 minutes .. waiting patiently and watching him as he *worked* Having had enough I got up, handing him the check & payment & asked if perhaps he could see fit to taking care of his customers ( what a schmuck !) I contacted management and they are JUST AS RUDE and IGNORANT as their employees. retort by CEO after I insisted I would not go back to the Concord restaurant but I would be willing to try a different one Thank you for your response and counter offer for consideration; however, my offer stands as I stated previously. Upon receiving this email and comparing it with your last I really dont feel that you are being very sincere in your discussion with us which is unfortunate. While we may mistakes from time to time as we are only human; we do try to atone for our errors. The Concord Common Man has been voted Best Restaurant in the Merrimack Valley for four years running by the readers of three different state wide and local publications; we didnt get this honor by continuously making the mistakes that you seemed to have encountered. With that said my offer stands for you to rejoin us in Concord for complimentary appetizers, dinners and dessert for two if you should ever have a change of heart. Sincerely, Jay Jason M. Lyon C.E.O. My wife and I went to the Windham location Thursday October 30 th. We were regulars, dining there at least 3 times a month for the past 5 years. We have also introduced our friends and business associates to the restaurant too. So when we were treated unprofessionally I was very surprised and disappointed. I ordered a pizza and a Martini and my wife ordered a veggie burger and a glass of wine, after about 20 minutes my pizza turned into a sub and my wifes veggie burger became a black bean burger, apparently the restaurant changes up their menu which is good but the wait staff should bring that to the attention of the client dont you think? After declining to wait another 20 minutes for what I ordered in the first place a pizza I picked on my wifes French fries. The manager then came over and offered to Comp. the sub that I didnt order, how can you comp something the client didnt order, dont you just remove it from the bill? However he did offer to comp my drink and I thought that was professional and accepted. Now feeling uncomfortable with the attention we were getting from other patrons my wife didnt complain about the burger ate a couple bites and we picked on the fries which tasted good especially knowing that was we were going to eat that evening. When the bill came there was no comping of any drink or drinks as promised by the manager. We were all done, we didnt want any more attention so we paid the full bill and also left a $20 tip not wanting to punish the hard working waitress, even though it was her miss order that began the problem. As we were leaving the restaurant I told my wife do you realize that we just spent $58.00 for an order of French Fries. Its really too bad we have enjoyed The Common Man, Windham as our default place to dine and now it will be a very long time if ever before we go there again. Its been over a week since our poor experience but felt it necessary to bring this to the attention of upper management in hopes this doesnt happen to other diners. I have been in the service industry for 28 years and I know how difficult it is to be 100%. So if you go there be sure to speak up if there is a problems and do not do what we did and leave angry. I am no longer referring or taking my many high end clients in the area to The Common Man Windham and its really too bad for all concerned.

Last nights visit was, overall, disappointing, which is difficult to say because there wasnt anything actually WRONG, just not up to expectations (based on prior visits). I CAN highly recommend the Apple Cider Sangria. There are some very interesting menu selections, such as "almost escargot" made from button mushroom tops and bacon "infused" brussel sprouts (infused isnt the correct term) and the steaks were at correct temperature as ordered. And thats the reason for the four stars. The baked potato was dry and crumbly, the filet mignon - although perfectly cooked - as dry and grainy and had an unpleasant aged taste, the meatloaf had the blended seasoning taste and texture of 3 day old leftovers when I make meatloaf at home, and the salmon was seriously over cooked. Nothing was bad enough to warrant being sent back - it was all fine, but it was JUST fine and not exceptional in the least. And exceptional is what wed come to expect from this restaurant. Service was good but a bit on the slow side, but again not frustratingly slow. Overall just a ho-hum experience with bonus points for creativity in the selections.

We absolutely LOVE "The Common Man" in Concord, and therefore were thrilled to find one in Windham. However, tonight was our second visit to the Windham restaurant and probably our last. It was by far the slowest restaurant service we have ever received. I cant really fault the waitress as she was hustling, but we were there for over 2 hours. The portions were small, food was dry and just warm, not hot. We waited literally 30 minutes just to receive our dessert after it was ordered and she said it would be 5 minutes (we asked as we had small children with us and had already waited so long for our meal). Everything took forever from the drinks, bread to the meals. We went out to eat for a relaxing experience and were so happy to finally get out of there. Very disappointing. I have never purposely sought out a venue to write a negative review, but since their disorganization and poor service took up half our evening, I wanted to make it a point to volunteer some of my time to comment.
