We were very disappointed with everything that we encountered. The service was very slow, no connection and poor. The bread was like hard hockey pucks and the corn bread was cold.. I ordered jumbo shrimp for my appetizer and while the shrimp themselves were excellent it was only after I finished cleaning them myself in my water glass that I could enjoy them. Our server walked past our table over 5 times she never once inquired as to what I was doing or if there was a problem with the shrimp.. I had to asked her for another glass of water and explained to her why I needed it. She did not appear surprised to hear I had to do that and just brought me another glass of water. I ordered a broiled Haddock w breadcrumbs and it was so oily/greasy that the breadcrumbs formed a mushy thick coating and was really disgusting. I scraped most off and still was unable to finish my food. The waitress never inquired as to why I scraped all the breadcrumbs off she cleared my plate and my husbands w a fair amount of food left on them did not ask if we wanted to take it home or anything but did wonder at why we did not want to stay for dessert or coffee?? Was very unhappy and will not return.. You would think being a seafood restaurant right at the beach they would have had fresh food and more then what they had available. Again a very disappointing experience and we will not return and I will make sure to share to others to not waste their time or money.

The first thing that you notice when you walk in is the setting. Very homey, comfortable and welcoming. The wait was only 10 minutes and our waitress was very nice! Bummer part, service was slow. We had 10-15 minute intervals between each action. (drinks, 15 minutes, order food, 15 minutes for appetizer, another 20 minutes for dinner, etc) However, the food was amazing! The Yarmouth sandwich was great and the herbed chicken was great! Fairly priced and great food, this makes for a great family oriented restaurant. My favorite part though, there is a bakery in there and though I didnt eat anything from the bakery itself, (full from dinner) the cupcakes looked SO good.

As a local, we love coming to this restaurant frequently. We typically sit in the bar area, which can be slammed or lightly populated depending on the time of day. They serve their full menu or their tapas here. The drinks are awesome, in the winter try the Hot Buttered Rum to warm yourself up. Good quality food at a good price. Their desserts are to die for, make sure you let your server know at the beginning of the meal of what you want as things go fast from the dessert case!

Had the most amazing shrimp carbonate this week. Truly great dish...crunchy vegetables, just enough sauce and shrimp cooked perfectly. Weve always counted on galley hatch to serve good food: the shrimp carbonate was really GREAT food. Hope it becomes part of the regular menu - Ill be eating there more often if it does!!! And I live in portsmouth surrounded by great restaurants!

Great customer service! Harry and Chrissy lead the best and friendliest servers. Plus the food is always good. I love the Greek salad because it has the best feta Ive ever tasted, which is also why the feta dip is the best appetizer you can get there! Jessicas chicken Romano and the herbal chicken are a couple of my other favorites. I could keep going on and on...but I wont.

I havent been to the Galley Hatch in about 20 years but recently returned with my boyfriend. He ordered the seafood newburg and I had the fried oysters. The food was incredible and our server was superb. We are actually going to be going back with another couple this coming weekend!

Great place. Delicious selection. Had to resist real hard on buying a whole cake.... came in for a quick breakfast, loved everything, saw many people buying cakes, so I wanted to get one too. I didnt and now I regret it. Ill definitely come back if Im in the area!

Been here many times, food is fair, sometimes good, but tonight it was just bad. The baked potato wasnt even cooked. The desserts are ALWAYS fabulous. Our wait person Darlene was the only saving grace, great service and personable!

We walked out on Easter Sunday because they were totally disorganized, unprofessional and lacking in customer service skills. If your looking for good service, you find better at a poorly run McDonalds Restaraunt

I have been eating at the Galley Hatch for decades. The great thing I can say is the food is always consistent quality - very good. The prices are reasonable and the onion soup is superb.

Teriyaki chicken with bacon sandwich and EXTRA jalapeno tarter used to be the BEST. Not on the menu anymore unfortunately. The jalapeno tarter sauce should be bottled for sale.
