Every single time we have gone was amazing... except for the last time. We have spent HUNDREDS of dollars here, hundreds, we tip $100 at a time, and for my sons birth we thought we were going to be about 5 minutes late for our reservation so we called to advise them. They said "no problem". We got there not only on time but 5 minutes EARLY... and they had already seated everyone at our table and told us we had to wait ..... even though we still made it EARLY!!!! We waited another 20 minutes to be seated. My husband ordered saki and they NEVER asked if he wanted another ad didnt refill our drinks. We talked to the owner at the end of the meal and she was not compassionate at all. We have been repeat customers for years and she didnt care at all. She shrugged us off like we were beneath her even though we paid over 200.00 for our crappy dinner that night and we have probable spent thousands of dollars there over the year. I will NEVER EVER return with my family. NEVER. They lost great paying very frequent customers for life.

If you have a group, and need multiple table, and give them advanced notice 4 weeks, and even if you tell the owner that you are willing to pay for an extra chef to insure you all can eat at the same time they lie. 34 people 3 tables 2 of our tables were done before the other even started. The management was rude and not helpful. One note the wait staff was pleasant and the cooks where great. Management was so rude that in the end when I was trying to add an additional tip for the staff on top of their mandatory 15% the manager thought we were arguing the bill with staff, and confronted us in a most rude fashion. I must say I did not respond in a civil matter. The next day I reach out to the owner who said that the fact the table service was not timed correctly was not their fault Wow then he called me a drunk. Thats customer service for you. My advice... do not patronize this establishment.

I decided to take my family to Ichiban for my wifes birthday dinner. We took advantage of the early bird special at 5:30 PM and were pleasantly surprised at the yummy food and great deal. The meal started off with a hot washcloth to clean your hands, miso soup, a larger than expected cucumber salad and an appetizer of either shrimp or calamari grilled in front of you on the big grill. Next, came a choice of fried rice ($3.75 extra) or white rice, and grilled vegetables. The show continued with your chosen main course expertly grilled before your eyes and ended with your choice of ice cream. If you ordered teriyaki chicken, the cost was $14.95; filet minion was $19.95! We will be back! Make sure get reservations. The spots fill fast! Expect to pay at least 50% more during regular dinner hours. Keep smiling.

Ive lived in Reno for over 10 years now and didnt visit here until my 9th year...Im so upset that I was missing out all those other years. The food is delicious, you get to watch these amazing chefs cook it right in front of you. However, its hard to just call it cooking because what they do is so much more...its an art form. I feel the price that you pay is really quite cheap considering everything you get. You choose your meat, it comes with a cucumber and crab salad to start and soup. You also get your choice of white or fried rice (I recommend the fried) and then the meat comes with a bunch of veggies as well. You also get ice cream at the end. Its truly a multi course meal. Youll want to check their website for hours because they dont open until 5pm weekdays and I know theyre closed some days as well.

I am so pleased to write a review for Ayla and Wayne! Ichiban was always my go to spot for sushi because of one sushi chef who used to work here. I stopped going when she left, but I decided to come back to introduce a friend from out of town to the all-you-can-eat experience. I am so glad I chose to go back to Ichiban! Wayne is now my favorite sushi chef in Reno. He is very attentive and speedy, even making custom orders for us (which is great for us with allergies to gluten and shellfish). My friend and I were very impressed. Ayla was a fantastic waitress, she really rounded out our whole experience and made us feel at home. By the end of the meal we were all laughing and taking pictures together. Im so so so glad to have given my friend such a healthy dose of Reno hospitality at Ichiban.

Reservation Hostess was rude in the way she suggested I hurry and not hold them up due to the fact that my mother would be arriving in a wheel chair. I felt that if it was not my mothers first time at ichiban I would have cancelled the reservation. While we were sitting waiting for the hand towels the hostess dropped the entire tray of towels and bowls and shortly after getting the soup she dropped more bowls and breaking them next to me. Drinks had very little ice, and to top it off the green tea ice cream was returned because it had something like red pepper flake in it. So sorry to say I deeply regret paying $200.00 for three people to have had a terrible experience.. I doubt we will be back. Signed disappointed Reno local

Just want to let Reno know that the free birthday dinner that Harrahs Ichiban commercials claim in the TV ads is FALSE advertising. Be prepared to shell out the full dinner price if you go for a birthday dinner and dont bring at least 3 more people. My birthday was my first Ichiban experience (which I WAS super excited about) and all I received was a huge disappointment. Telling me after I inquire why my dinner was on the bill at the end of my meal, that I "should have called for the details" is rude, disrespectful and very poor customer service. I do not recommend Ichiban--enjoy your birthday meal or any other meal at a restaurant that doesnt have to cheat, lie and make false advertising claims to get you in the door.

This was the worst dining experience I have had. We were RUSHED AND RUSHED AND RUSHED through our meal. We didnt even have a chance to have a drink before the meal. We ordered drinks and meal all at the same time! The waitress rushed us through each phase of the meal and at one point said, `Ill be back in 5 or 6 minutes to get you dessert! We had just been served our meal!!!! Then they rushed us to pay and get out. One hour for six people WITH children! We complained to the management just to be told that maybe the girl was a little aggressive with her timing but that they are on a schedule! Well, they have been written off my schedule, thats for sure!

Sushi was good, but service was absolutely horrible. The sushi chef tried to charge me for someone elses order when we hadnt even been given drinks yet (that took about 20 minutes, after waiting 45 minutes for a seat). I ended up ordering things off the menu that I knew would take less time to cook, and not what I actually wanted, just so I could get something to eat. The teppanyaki section wait staff seemed very attentive though, might try that instead next time. The staff seemed nice, and the sushi chef apologized, but they seemed overbooked. Was disappointing for something Ive been looking forward to for a long time.
