This was the worst Japanese food I have had in a long time. The yakisoba tasted more like some kind of peppered pasta. I could actually smell the bleach left on the miso soup bowl from being washed. I thought I was drinking swimming pool water. I lived in Japan for three years and I know Japanese food. I actually went to Akira with my Japanese friend, visiting here from Osaka. He and I were both shocked by the overpriced, tasteless food. His sukiyaki was unrecognizable, all he could bear to eat was the white rice. The service was just as bad as the food. The waitress was terribly rude and short with us. We couldnt find her after she served our food and had to ask the hostess for our check! I never make complaints like this online but this restaurant was so awful I knew I had to pass the word on. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.

New joint that I recently brought my girlfriend to because she loves Japanese food and we heard great things about this place. I think the service was great, our server was nice, spontaneous, and fun. The food was pretty good for the most part. We ordered the Omakase which was only $65 per person for 7 courses + Hokkaido uni quail egg with scallop and hamachi carpaccio with truffle oil, fruit sake, and plum wine. The appetizers on the 7 course menu i couldve done without, they werent great but doesnt add anything to the dish. I also didnt like the red miso soup that much. Apart from those 2, I liked everything else I had. The only gripe I have with this place is the 2 pieces of bones found in my girlfriends salmon nigiri. Not very pleasant. Other than that, this place is great, id come back!

We are very upset and unhappy with the supersalty and overpriced food we had last night 2/27/14. Our party of 20 were celebrating our daughters birthday. Everyone at our table could not eat the food. There was nothing FINE about this restaurant.I mentioned the problem to the owner who cared more about collecting the $520 check! unbelievable. I noticed the exhaust hoods was dusty and greasy looked as though it hadnt been cleaned in months. The owner did not make us feel welcome.(nobody smiled except for the cooks!) The word fine next to restaurant is supposed to mean the highest quality(from the food to service). Akiras is not a fine restaurant. the awards on the wall mean nothing. A resolvement is in order from the management in which we merit a credit.

My experience was bad enough that I had to write a review. First of all the service was sub par (not too friendly). I ordered vegetable tempura and received shrimp with vegetables. I had to wait a while for the waiter to return and when he did, he asked me to leave the shrimp to the side and just eat the vegetables. First of all, I believe to be allergic to shrimp. Second, the vegetable tempura comes with a lot more variety of vegetables. Third, I wanted what I had ordered in the first place! After hesitation, the waiter took my order back without apologizing. Even if we had not spent a considerable amount of money there, this is kind of service is shameful. We will not be going back.

Fried rice is the best covered in extra ginger sauce Ill give them that , but if you want to eat at the teppan grill and its just you and a friend be ready to wait, I know they like to have bigger parties to cook for but on more than one occassion we have been waiting for about 45 min after being served soup and salad you can tell that they are stalling then some stragglers come walking in and they seat them with us....so now we wait for another 30-45 min while they look over the menu and have to be served there soup and salad as well...the food is decent but when it comes to waiting they sure do a good job....

The building looks a bit old and outdated, barely noticeable from the outside but theres a reason they were voted best Japanese food in the area for so many years running. I have been here multiple times and yes some chefs/servers are much more desirable than others and sometimes you get seated by an undesirable crowd but every time the food is absolutely perfect and the experience is enjoyable. Personally I have always had outstanding service and very sociable chefs.

Nice vibe in small, homey location complicated by a tiny parking lot and situated near the terminus of a perpetually busy cross-town freeway. The food was remarkable. The daily specials offer the adventurous a respite from your standard AM fare. Recommend the fried green tomatoes, any of the specialty pancakes and the sautéed portablella mushrooms in a killer sauce served...

My favorite of my top 5 local restraunts For the price, its worth every penny. Quality food, great service, very very friendly chefs and amusing cooking techniques I always get the steak and shrimp the salads are great, but I liveee for their soup. for you and a date, expect around $30-50 (depending on drinks and meat selection) VERY worth it.

My friends and I came here a while ago; when we left we abhorred Japanese food for a good two months. The food was clearly, not very fresh. We got some sweet shrimp and it was much too...fishy, and left a nasty taste in your mouth; same with the scallops. Our main dishes werent so bad, but not great tasting considering the price we paid.

This was a great night. Probably too much wine but what a list. I even found a great Bordeaux on their list as well. Service was top notch and food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and it was easy to get back to my hotel "The Padre" which is across the street. Highly recommended for the wine enthusiast.

Food was okay, but Ive had better. You pay 20$ for a plate and they give you rice to get full fast. They have charges on the weirdest things. If you share a plate, they have to charge you 7.00. Not to mention they charge you without any consent their top which is 8.p0

I come into the restaurant after a long drive. I walk in a 6 oclock in the evening and the hottest says I cant sit and have dinner. She just literally sat 5 people in front of me and told me that the restaurant is closed.

Wow. This was bad. The Sushi roll tasted like it had come out of a microwave. No flavor at all. Soggy. It wasnt edible and I was starving when I went in there. This was their second chance for me. I wont be back.

I think Akiras has the best Teppanyaki Food in town. You might be able to find a newer, modern restaurant, but I think the food is the reason they have stood the test of time. I also love the Vegas Sushi Rolls.

Great experience! Awesome food and very entertaining. Go as a group of up to 8. If you have never had a "cook in front of you" meal....try this one. The bonus is the green tea ice cream at the end.

Theres a story behind In n Out burger! I like their mentality! They have fresh products and good service. I usually dont like fastfood restaurants but this one can really be appreciated.
