Im reviewing my one and forever only experience at this restaurant. Our party of four arrived at Rib Shack around 6:45 on a Thursday night. The place was completely empty, and no other customers arrived or carried out while we ate. This should have been our first sign of trouble. We walked up to the counter and stared at the overhead menu for a few minutes (you order up front, and fetch your own beverages). Three of us had never eaten there, and one had. The girl working the front register stood there silent the entire time in an odd passive-aggressive stance. Wasnt friendly, didnt ask if we had questions, didnt offer any friendly advice, and wasnt at all interested in serving us. Yet again, another signal that we ignored. Finally, we ordered. Two of us had the beef brisket plate with 2 sides for $9.99. One had the brisket sandwich and 1 side for $6ish. And another chose the rib tip plate with 1 side for $8.99. Add a drink or two and it was nearly $45 with tax. Terrible value. Well start with the good. The rib plate was the most food, and was pretty good. Its fair market value is probably closer to $6.99. And, the BBQ sauce was flavorful. The brisket was terrible all around. Mine wasnt even hot when served. It wasnt tender and the fat was chewy. To add insult to injury, the sandwich included the exact same portion of brisket as the "platter" at $4 cheaper (no brisket portions were generous at roughly 4oz of meat). All in all, dont visit this place. Poor service, high prices, medium sized portions, and terrible brisket that wasnt fit for eating.

Also at 2925 W Republic Rd suite 100. Jennie and Arthur have the best and tastiest BBQ in town. I enjoy talking to Jennie as she has a wonderful personality and a love for food and people. The meat in any form is almost completely fatless, the hot links have wonderful spiciness, anything you order is made by hand and has that hole in the wall restaurant touch. Local appeal and great food make this a destination once a week. AND yes you do have to get your own drink! Oh no, I have to use my own body to get off my chair and get my own drink!! Im offended!! LMAO. Please look for the Rib Shack on Republic Road, its excellent too!

My family and I stopped in Springfield for the day on our way to Branson from Southeast Kansas. We were trying different places to eat and stopped in here for supper. The service couldnt have been better. Very friendly people working there, superb! The food was very good. I got the sampler platter with beans and coleslaw, my wife got the catfish with beans and fried okra. The ribs, brisket, catfish, coleslaw and okra was particularly good and the rest of the food was almost as good. The building is just a little slot in the middle of an old strip mall but I really liked this place. Prices were good too. Try it out.

If you love of mouth-watering, true-blue BBQ, this is THE place for you! They have Beef brisket that is to die for! Their Catfish is tossed with spices and corn meal to give it a juicy texture and amazing flavor that will keep you coming back for more! This place is so good, you cannot afford to pass it up. Most meals are under 8 dollars with sides and a drink. I am in there at least once a week! Give it a try, you will NOT be sorry!

OMG!!! The best BBQ in town...You get more then enough and $$$ are reasonable better then Rib Crib or the other one on Glenstone and soooo mych better then Crossroads...Jennie you are a HOOT and your hubby Art is a VERY SWEET man...Thxs ...Well try the PEACH COBBLE next time....

Price considered the best BBQ in Springfield. Reminds me of some of the hole-in-the-wall joints in South Alabama from when I was a kid there. The Big Shack sandwich -pork with a hot link- is awesome! Its a joint. But its a good joint. Nice folks to talk to as well.

Best BBQ in town. Ive tried them all. Part of this is the smaller business atmosphere. The owners and family are super friendly and enjoy what they do. Hot link sandwich is my go to. BBQ sauce is really delicious and its served warmed up.

BBQ is a very subjective flavor, as everyone has their favorite, but you owe it to yourself to try this place! The best in southwest Missouri in my opinion, just wish id have found it sooner!
