This year, my family had Christmas Eve dinner here with a reservation at 6:30. We had Miguel as our waiter. We ordered within ten minutes. It took twenty minutes for me to receive water - which was the only drink that I had ordered. We had problems with him all evening not bringing drinks or refills when asked. Our appetizers took almost 20 minutes to arrive. At this point, it is already after 7 p.m. Eight people ordered salads and two ordered soup. The salads came at approximately 7:30. This is an hour after our reservation. The people with soup were instructed that you had run out of soup and were warming up some more. This statement alone brings question as to the quality of the bisque that these two would end up receiving since it was “being warmed up” instead of being served fresh. At 8:00, Miguel brought salads to the two people who ordered the Lobster Bisque stating that it was taking longer than expected to warm up the new soup. They received their soup close to 8:30. Not only is this horrible wait service thus far, but it is horrible on the establishment’s end as there is not a reason to run out of food when reservations have been made for that night, thus you know how many people are coming, and you have a set menu. At 8:45, we finally received our entrees. Not only is this a ridiculous amount of time that had elapsed between each course, but none of the entrees were good. I had a filet. This is supposed to be the best cut of meat available. I ordered it medium-rare. It was medium to well-done. I did not ask for a new steak because I did not have two more hours in which to wait. In addition to the meat being cooked wrong, it was tough and chewy. A filet is supposed to melt in the mouth. In addition, my son and husband ordered ribeye. A ribeye should be marbleized and juicy. They couldn’t eat it as it was so tough and dry. My husband travels all over the world for his job and stated that it is the worst piece of meat he has ever had – and this includes countries that are not known for serving beef yet he has eaten it there, such as Costa Rica and the West Indies. My nephew ordered teriyaki chicken with rice pilaf. This dish is usually served with cut up chicken in the rice all smothered with the teriyaki seasoning. It was not. He received two pieces of chicken – bone-in – and rice on the side. If you are going to waiver from a traditional serving of a food item, it should state such on the menu. It appeared to us that you ran out of teriyaki chicken just as you had run out of the soup and tried to whip something up to serve to him. This was my sister’s first time at your establishment, and she was appalled to have to feed that to her son. All in all, we were completely disappointed in our service and food for that night. When there is a set menu, which my husband and I have encountered at numerous places around the world that we have traveled, the food should be of the best quality and of sufficient amounts to feed those in attendance. Wait staff should be trained to stop by each table they are stationed at on a frequent basis to find out what they can do while the patrons are waiting for their food. Even if no one wants anything, staying and “socializing” with the patrons in a positive manner shows that they care about the patrons. For the amount of money that we spent at your establishment that evening, we should have received top-quality meals and service. This recent experience has caused us to decide to find a new restaurant in which to begin our holidays.

I just had my fathers 70th birthday there and the banquet room was beautiful very open and well lit. The audio visual facilities was fantastic so we could play a slideshow for everyone to see. But lets talk about the food and service. It was top notch! I have been to a lot of very nice restaurants locally and abroad this place has always been very consistent on how amazing the tastes are. The service was phenomenal, well orchestrated and presented. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Looking for upscale dining with a relaxed atmosphere then Sunset 44 Bistro is the place to go. weve been dining there for 20 years and the place is ever evolving. The menu has its favorites but also new fresh ideas always showing up. The food and service is always great. Prices are very reasonable for such a nice place.

This is our favorite restaurant to go to celebrate special occasions or for a nice date night. They have delicious food and the atmosphere is great. We have never had a problem parking or gotten a ticket. Although parking can be tricky in downtown Kirkwood, it is no reason to give this great restaurant one star.

Dinner last night with our son. Good food. Good service. Pleasant atmosphere. Good place for an upscale sit down meal with family/friends. Bar looked busy but we were seated away and heard no noise from the folks there.
