After going to my dads last night to get some tools, my fiance and I decided to stop in here. We are not from north KC but since my dad now lives there we are in the neighborhood at least once a week and finally caught the place when it wasnt so busy. Anyhow, we hadnt ate all day, and realized they were open 24 hours. We love going to diners and little family owned/run businesses. This however, was a HUGE disappointment. We walked in and sat at the counter, literally right in front of where the door opens, the two older guys at the end of the bar kept looking at us like we didnt belong. The maybe middle school age girls with their parents kept giggling and carrying on. What really got me is my fiance said "excuse me sir" very politely, and he walked right by us. Then the other guy behind the register didnt even look up or acknowledge us. We didnt even try to order. I was very disappointed by their customer service. We were excited to try them, now will never go back. We will be sticking to Wolfees!

I am a big fan of giving little shacks a shot and I have never given any place a bad review but this was the worst hamburger place I have ever been to.1st of all we waited over 20 minutes for the food which I normally dont mind if its worth it. They got the order wrong. I ordered a double and got a single, the meat was burnt to the point it was crispy and black all around and considering they smash them so much that they are completely flat and the size was maybe twice the size of a dollar coin i was basically eating brunt crust. However the bacon was completely pink almost under cooked (one good thing is they give you a lot of bacon). And not to even mention the horrible service they had and all this more expensive than any small shack I have ever been to plus NO REFILLS AND CASH ONLY. I think Ill stick to LCs hamburgers and Town Topic. Never going to this place again.

1st time eating there took it to go and my boyfriend got speg & chili he didnt eat none of it said it tasted like hash. I got steak and 3 over easy eggs my eggs had no juice in them my toast was soggy and the steak had no taste was so ever. Then we order curl fries for my son and they tasted old they were not even hot when we got home and only live but 10mins away. Also got a side of cheese for the fries well my boyfriend asked for cheese sauce they dont have cheese sauce they charged us 2.25 for 3 half slices of cheese. $30 down the drain and was still hungry horrible food

Will not go back. Very small burgers that are not worth their price. The chili is the worst chili ever. It did not taste anything like chili, it was half grease. I dont mind grease and small quantity, but this was ridiculous. The service was a zero. The waitress acted like it was a bother that anyone came in. The place itself was kinda neat to see, being so old. But its dirty in there. I will keep going to culvers and five guys. If I could rate a zero I would. Oh, and the buns was literally soaked in grease too. Horrible experience.

Your Burgers were burnt, the onion rings were burnt, my egg sandwich wasnt cooked how I asked for it. Friends up here in the Northland boast about how incredible your food is, they must be drunk. I ordered take-out and it was horrible. You better believe Town Topic on Broadway wouldnt send me home with this poor excuse for a burger. Happy Mothers Day to me... thought I would see what the hype was about. Just so everyone knows this wasnt even during their peak hours.

Let me be clear - the hamburgers are pretty good. If you want a great artery clogging burger with some even greater fries, this is the place to come. However, every time that I have been (6 or 7 times) the service has been awful. Not as in slow, as in rude! It seems as if they are almost upset that you are eating there! Best just to grab the burgers, and get out of there. Better yet, go to Town Topic. SOOOO much better.

Ive called the health department on these people. There were bugs in my soda!! Some of the staff needs to seriously retire because they dont have a shred of customer service in their bones. Both the server and the cook stunk of cigarettes and alcohol. The cook knew what he was doing behind the grill but my mother got a burrito and it just was wrong. The chili on it was cold and greasy. Not going back.

How could I not write a review about this place? Ive been going to Hayes for as long as I can remember. Always a treat and I love taking new people. I now have my kids hooked and my grandson too. I hope this place is around forever. I cant imagine my great grandchildren not having a Hayes to take their grandchildren to. YUM! Ill take 2 cheeseburgers, fried cauliflower and a root beer please.

Heard that the food was good, but i watched the waitress skip over my boyfriend, the only black customer in the restaurant and take another order. My first real experience with racism. And when i politely addressed the waitress about the incident, she very nastily denied what i had just witnessed, not even an apology. Will not be returning here, nor will a handful of our friends

Its a very neat, old time diner atmosphere. But the burgers were nothing to write home about - I expected more. And given the size of the burgers, it seemed pricey. In my opinion, there are many better burger joints in KC - Flea Market, ChefBurger, Johnny Rays in Lees Summit are better, and there are others too. Worth a try, but not worth a return visit in my opinion.

A true gem from another time. The burgers here are amazing..smashed thin and cooked on a flat top with shredded onions..truely mouth-watering !! But get a double or a triple because theyre smashed very thin.. dont forget the cheese. You need to try the chili and decide yourself.. personally I like it "on" something but not by itself. The best part..open 24 hours !!

I went in to order food today & had my 1st racial experience, I was the only black person in the restaurant at the time I was waiting in line to order food they acted like I was never there looked at me & didnt say anything, didnt ask me what I wanted jus let me stand there & took the other peoples order who came in behind me who were both white

Extremely expensive burger joint, food was OK, two small burgers, one triple, chile fries regular fries and two drinks $19...... AND NO REFILLS ON POP to boot! I mean come on you pay exorbitant prices for food and then have to pay for refills on pop? We left feeling like wed been had. Will not be going back, ever.....

I and my girlfriend tried this place for the first time. Its a 1950-ish diner type place that had charm,.........BUT- the hamburgers were absolutely hideous. They made a hamburger at McDonalds seem like eating a gourmet meal. Dont bother going there unless you just simply dont care what you put into your mouth.
