Who ever said it was the best catifish you ever had, you poor, poor person. Please come over to my house and I will fry you some catfish that will blow your mind if this was the best you ever had. The restaurant itself wasnt bad, its kinda small but updated. The service wasnt too bad actually. But the food. Nah. It leaves more to be desired. The catfish seriously tastes like some that I picked up at walmart one time out of the frozen food aisle. Disgusting. It was rubbery, not flakey as it should be. It was slimy and you could tell it had been frozen a LONG time. The fries were frozen crinkle cut fries!!! Seriously? At a fish house? An over priced one at that. By the way the menu has increased from what it says online. The cole slaw had to have came out of a bucket already made from a grocery store. The hush puppies, I dont know what that was - but it wasnt a hush puppie. nothing about this food made me want to eat there again. Ive had better catfish at a fast food restaurant. Dont waste your time. I wish I could reccomend a better place, but I stayed in Vicksburg 3 days and followed reviews from online - none of the panned out even fairly decently. Im not that picky either.

They made a big deal about their homemade croutons, which were overly seasoned and cold. Then when the food finally arrived along with the check. The waitress was never to be seen again. All the sides were cold. My husband had the famous catfish which was only edible, the fries were too cold to eat. The famous mini pan of cornbread which is a great idea, was also completely cold, not even lukewarm. I ordered The Plantation, chicken fried steak. It looked like they bought it straight off the Ben E. Keith truck. Two perfectly shaped disks of steak?. The mashed potatoes were cold and their gravy on top looked like a cap of ice cream. The homemade mac & cheese was in a perfect ice cream scoop shape and the cheese was setting up it was so cold. We never saw our waitress again until we paid our bill, she was sitting at a booth playing on the computer. I hope she was part of the family at Rowdys and perhaps she is reading some of the reviews of her place. It was such a disappointment. I really wish we had gone to McDs instead.

We were traveling on our vacation and read online about This restaurant. We were especially tempted by their claim that catfish was their specialty. We were greeted pleasantly and our orders were taken. We were served our beverages and even some delicious cornbread. Then things went downhill. We waited an excessive amount of time for our food-lOng enough that we had to have refills on our drinks. When she returned with our food, the catfish was prepared differently than ordered, the sides were not correct and our daughters meal (mac and cheese) was still not served. The server offered her some mashed potatoes while she waited. We continued to eat and even finished our entire meal, no mac n cheese. We finally asked for our check. We were not charged for the missing food, but we had to drive to Wendys to get our daughter something to eat. Very poor service.

I took my kids to Rowdys last night for supper. This was a first time for my kids & its been about 15 years since Id been. Im happy to see that the food was as great as I remembered & the staff was just as friendly too. I ordered the 1/4 lb. fried catfish, mashed potatoes & blackeyed peas. The catfish was excellent & I was full off of the 1/4 lb plate. My daughter got the Rowdy & my son ordered the kids meal corndog & fried okra. My daughter said her burger was the best & liked that it wasnt greasy. My son wasnt a fan of the corndog but loved the okra. I highly recommend this place. Kid friendly. The prices are reasonable, atmosphere is friendly & casual & the food is wonderful!

We were traveling through Vicksburg and read about Rowdys, so decided we should do local. So disappointed! A lot of yelling from kitchen, side was wrong, but corrected, but all sides came out cold. Catfish slightly undercooked. Waitress took forever to bring water- restaurant not busy. Wadded up place mat lying on floor in central aisle on way to our table- several employess saw it, but walked past it, ignoring it, actually kicking it down a couple of tables at one point. Waitress went to get our ticket, took forever, came out of kitchen finally without it - we eventually went up to front. Employee rolling up silverware was on cell phone between rolls. We will not be back.

The advertisement said "If you havent eaten at Rowdys, then you havent visited Vicksburg." I dont know about that. Our server took our drink order and asked if we were ready to order. We asked for another few minutes and she disappeared. We waited quite a bit and finally had to signal someone to come take the order. The food was OK, but it didnt just blow me away. The prices were about normal and the portions were adequate, but not large. The menu listed "French fries" and "battered fries". I ordered one and got the other. I just ate them instead of sending my plate back and waiting longer to eat. Annoying, but not the end of the world.

I rarely ever rate a restaurant but I had such slow terrible service, I had to. They were very busy due to many utility workers there which I understand, however, we were totally neglected and ignored. We didnt get waited on for 15 minutes. The server was didnt know we were "her" table after we asked for someone. She was irritated that she had to work so hard, food was only OK, one couple next to us got up and left because the service was so poor, we didnt get our bread and had to chase down our server half the time. Overall, I"d rate it in the bottom 20% of dining experiences I have had, I"d never eat there again.

The food wasnt the worst Ive ever had but the service was the worst Ive had in a long time! Youd be hard pressed to find a waitress who could care less than Renee. We had to ask other wait staff for almost everything. She was unfriendly and inattentive. Its really a shame too seeing as this was our last meal in Vicksburg. :( If you want my advice Id go hungry til supper and go directly across the street to The Beechwood! The owner himself went table to table there and the food was unbelievable and staff wonderful! Or go into town n eat at 10 South or Walnut Hills! They are pricier but with ever penny.

My family and I have eaten at Rowdys many times over the years when passing through Vicksburg. Dining at Rowdys has always been a pleasant experience. They have the best catfish I have ever eaten. The Nosser dressing is a secret family recipe and it makes the food taste extra good!! You can put it on the fish, batter fries, fried pickles, hamburgers...it adds a zing to anything. Everyone is so friendly. If you are passing through Vicksburg, do yourself a favor and give Rowdys a visit!!
