Amazing service, atmosphere and food!!! The wonderful service started when we walked in the door. We were greeted warmly and told to pick anywhere we wanted to sit. C.J. immediately came and took our drink order with a smile and continually came to our table throughout the meal to refill our drinks and take any plates we were done with. Our waitress, Ally, not only had all of our courses out to us at the perfect time, never overlapping and never late, she was genuinely friendly and showed a pride in her job that is rarely seen anymore. The food was so delicious and the service was so awesome that we couldnt talk about anything else throughout the meal and even a few hours after we left. We started with the eggplant fries which were so delectable with its ranch sauce with a little kick to it. Then we had a salad and I ventured to try their honey poppy seed dressing.... SOOOOO good!!! For our entree, I had the Chicken Chasseur with smashed potatoes and my husband had the ribeye with a baked potato. Everything was cooked to perfection. And last we topped it off by sharing one of their homemade desserts, key lime pie. All I can say is PERFECT!!! We enjoyed ourselves so much that we wanted to leave a good comment card but they didnt have any. So instead we wrote our appreciation on the back of a blank order form. Most only comment when there is bad service or bad food but its just as important to show your appreciation for the good especially when this kind of dining experience is not the norm. This restaurant is OUTSTANDING all across the board. You will NOT be disappointed should you choose to visit this venue. No, you MUST!!! WE will definitely be coming back again and again.

My fiancé and I are new to the area and have been meaning to visit this place for a while. We just got there for lunch today and were surprised with delicious, fresh food that belies the typical Southern tradition of fried food drenched in fattening spreads and sauces. Wed kinda been expecting more of the same, but Harbor View Café proved us wrong! First, they have a full page of delicious-sounding salads, which is way better than the two or three salad options most restaurants around here have. Theyre menu is pretty extensive with lots of good options. My fiancé had the Harbor View Cheese Steak (pepperoni, sautéed onions, banana peppers) and the sweet potato fries and loved them. I had the Grand Chicken Caesar and couldnt believe how good the salad looked and tasted. The chicken breast appeared to be from an actual roast chicken, the croutons were really homemade, and the creamy Caesar dressing (which they gladly put on the side) was delicious. After that salad, I plan to try every salad Harbor View Café has. How nice to be able to eat healthy while still enjoying what youre eating! Harbor View also has vegetarian options, like the Veggie Medley sandwich ("Zucchini, yellow squash, & sliced apples served grilled"), Pasta Medley ("Tender pasta spirals tossed with an array of fresh veggies in our Italian dressing"), and Pasta Primavera ("Fresh zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms & tomatoes sautéed in a butter-garlic sauce and served over Angel Hair pasta"), so I finally have a place to take my vegetarian friends when they visit! Long story short, we are going back to Harbor View Café ASAP!

The restaurant is very pretty, with a view of the water and EXCELLENT service/servers. Its very open, so a little noisy if there are a lot of people. Also has only ONE womens bathroom stall for what is a large restaurant...we finally had to give up on using the facilities. We ordered the Harbor Fries and a Cuban sandwich. The fries were described as having cheese, bacon, and a side of sour cream. When we got them, they were so coated in seasoning salt that there was, literally, a layer of salt in the bottom of the dish. Dont get me wrong...I LOVE salt...love it...but these were so salty they were inedible. The small amount of cheese was not melted. The bacon was burned black. It was served with ranch dressing, not sour cream. Ive worked in a restaurant kitchen as the cook...this plate should never have left the kitchen looking the way it did. However, our server was amazing. We pointed out the problems, and we did NOT ask for a refund...just suggested that she may want to say something to the kitchen, and she immediately agreed AND had it removed from our tab. Again, we did not ask her to do that. I never, ever ask for a comp. Our Cuban sandwich was a good sandwich...but not even remotely like a Cuban. It looked and tasted like a pulled pork BBQ sandwich. Good, very tender, but not as described on the menu. All in all, I appreciate the location and serving staff, but cant recommend the food.

I was on my way to a steakhouse, and saw a sign at this cafe about a Prime Rib special. I stopped in and staff was courteous. I ordered the PR special Medium rare. The prime rib came out and it was like rubber, with no sear on the outside. It was medium on the outside and rare inside. The knife they supplied wasnt able to cut it. My server was nice, but took ten minutes to come back by my table. She offered to take it back and did. It came out again and was a new piece cooked the same way. The third try they put the same piece back on the grill, and when it came out now it was still just a darker grey color outside but still no sear. It looked as if it was cooked in the oven. The server really wanted me to be happy, but my stomach was already upset from trying the multiple failures. While waiting on my check, there was a guy with a mustache that kept glaring at me from behind the counter; I wish he would have just come over and said something because it was making me uncomfortable. Server graciously took 10% off my meal for how bad it was. She received a decent tip, but all in all it was a waste of money.

I Called in and ordered a cheeseburger, a shrimp platter with hushpuppies instead of the French bread, catfish platter with coleslaw, fries, and hushpuppies, and a bay St. Louis cheese steak Poboy. Picked up my food and went home and the cheeseburger had chips instead of fries, the shrimp platter had hushpuppies and French bread (which I specifically said no French bread) and none of the other sides that the menu says come with the meal, did not come with it, the catfish platter had chips, coleslaw, frenchbread, and hushpuppies (ordered fries, got chips), and the poboy had hair in it when my sister bit into it. Called the restaurant to talk to the manager and he said to call back in a few minutes because the manager was too busy to talk. We called back and he (Les) still would not let me talk to the manager and tried telling me that I specifically requested chips instead of fries, when I never even mentioned chips! Will not go here again.

i googled this place to see what kind of food they had. it advertises southern food. I was thinking chicken fried steak, biscuits and sausage gravy, and things of that nature. you know, southern food. nope. they do have fried green tomatoes, but thats the extent of their southern food. they have wraps, sea food, burgers, and sandwiches which are all reasonably priced. i ate a California wrap which was pretty delicious. you get 1 side of fried kettle cooked chips with your wrap. we tried to substitute the chips for fries. you cant do that. you have to buy a side of fries for 2.99, mind you a side of fries is about 15-20 french fries at harbor view. the fries tasted like fish from the oil that they had been cooked in. the wait staff and hostess were both really nice. all in all, good service, good wraps, gross fries, deceiving online description.
