I am Cambodian but born and raised in Saint Paul. Ive been hitting up Cheng Heng since they opened up and we are regulars. The owner/Wife answers the phone with Jill, my Wife, because we are on their caller ID. Im not tight with the owners and give them props for always being friendly, respectful, courteous and fast to us. My Wife likes to chit chat but Im the kind of guy that wants awesome food for a great value and am there to eat and run. The food here is authentic, delicious and is a great value. We usually get egg rolls and chicken wings, perfect for the kids and crunchy and juicy and pho noodle soup, curry chicken with rice or noodle, eggplant curry with chicken, the fried fish, papaya salad, luc lac a beef stir fry and cha kroeng, stir fry...these are usually what we order and our cant miss meals that will be a flavor explosion from the norm. Prices are great and affordable. Parking can be tough if you go during the lunch rush or on a holiday because they are open on most holidays. I can count on one hand where service was not great but the servers are always responsive if you let them know what you need and not enough to give them a bad score, aint no place perfect. If you want a great meal and are on a budget or if you want to have some amazing tasty food that is authentic Khmer food at a local Mom and Pop shop than this is the place for you and yours.

Small comfy home-feel Asian restaurant serving genuinely excellent Cambodian style cuisine with good service at very reasonable prices. About a dozen years ago I really enjoyed coming here for their lemon-grass chicken and curry fish head soup. Then I went away to live and work in Asia so you might say became a more educated and discriminating diner. The current management have expanded, doubled the number of tables, kept the Buddhist Cambodian deco and done a lot of work on their menu, cleaning up, simplifying and modernizing it but best of all, worked a remarkable improvement upon the food they serve. Their lemon-grass chicken for example now goes under a slightly different name and is available with beef, pork or seafood with improved presentation. Their lemon-grass sauce is perhaps the best Ive ever tasted, the flavour is rich and deeply infused, addition of crushed peanuts gives it a nutty character and bit of a crunch. Am returning soon to explore the menu more. Highly recommend!

Cambodian food... what can I say. Could be the best of Asian cuisines all rolled into one place. Cheng Heng has a pretty big menu, with lots of soups, apps, entrees, salads... Everything we ordered was fantastic. Its a pretty casual spot, as you might expect at first sight. Service was good, and the food was truly unique. Lot parking is available, which helps in this area. My only complaint, is that their full menu isnt available online. Their real menu is huge compared to whatever is posted online. So do yourself a favor, and just pop on in and try it out!

All other cambodian restaurants pail in comparison to the platonic ideal of what cheng heng achieves on a daily basis. Ive been to cambodia . Ive literally been to a restaurant named " Luc Lac " . Cheng hengs luc lac is the one true luc lac. The luc lac produced in this diamond in the rough of frog town is the luc lac upon which all other luc lacs are based. If you live in the metro and you like amazing , personal and affordable food enough to venture into the wilds of frog town then the big CH awaits. Try the eggrolls with the #16.

I love the eggplant curry soup (#49) and the kreoung (#17) and #51. Have never been disappointed when dining in. My only criticism is that, of the many times weve gotten takeout from Cheng Heng, twice the kreoung has been far blander than normal. Never seems to happen when we dine in. Oh, and itd be nice if they had a take out menu. You have to order from memory if youre calling for take out. But theyre fast and friendly! Lastly, theyve got lots of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. Wonderful!

I thought that the cambodian cuisine was wonderful. A wide variety of soups and stir fry are sure to please your needs. The owners seem very friendly and I hope to become a regular. The service was fast. I thought the Chha kaim som was just impeccable. I also really liked the sticky rice dounuts, they are one of a kind and Cheng Heng is the only restaurant that offers them. Their value is very good and you should come dine here if you are going out. You will not be disappointed!

I use to love cheng hang, Ill always suggest it the first place to eat when i come to mn. But lately they havent been keeping up and been lazy. Their spring rolls, they changed it with smaller noodles and their kapoon noodles was overly cooked i couldnt barely pick up the noodles with my chopped sticks. I was embarrassed from praising them in front of my friends and letting them witness my bowl of kapoon. I dont even know what to say.

Ive been here only twice, so far, anyway, but everything Ive had is delicious and well prepared. For entrees, the luc lac and fried squid and peppers are delicious, both are well seasoned but not overpowering (each in their own sauce, though.) The atmosphere is understated which puts the focus on the food, where it should be. Also, as luck would have it, the light rail just opened right next door. I will be eating here a lot more.

Love this place. The parking isnt too bad either on the street or the lot. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. I would recommend the 38 with wide noodles, their dishes tend to be much less spicy and are less savory than Thai dishes, which can be a nice change as Thai can be overwhelming after a while. They have been around a long time, and they have really kept a great business for many years!

Cambodian food is kind of like Indian, kind of like Vietnamese, yet also has a style all its own. I love #19, the chicken curry soup at Cheng Heng. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, good service, friendly staff, good prices and an interesting painting of Angkor Wat on the wall. Theres a free parking lot about 1/2 block to the west, or you can park in front of the restaurant on the street. Highly recommended.

Food wasnt bad, however we found hair in the pho (two bowls) and in the tricolor during the July 4th weekend. The manager said maybe it was because they left the back door open, for all the ladies in the back are wearing hair nets. We were so disgusted that we left the restaurant and went to Bangkok Deli which is down the block and were much more satisfied with no hair in our food there.

As I was paying for my food, I saw an old lady sitting in the kitchen with a bunch of green veggies piled on the floor... she was picking them up and trimming them before putting it in a large bowl. I am no longer a customer nor will recommend them. They shouldve gone straight to the garbage immediately, I hope they didnt end up on someones plate.
