After surgery my kids thought we should meet for a Saturday brunch and they all love Coopers, so we met there. I was there once for the mothers day buffet and it was fine. This occasion turned out different. Eleven of us sat in the inclosed room behind the bar at 11:00 on a Saturday. The bar tender was excellent in explaining that they are very busy and that our service will be slow. He work our room and the bar, but he did a great job. The kitchen of coarse blew it. I thought the menu was very limited. I was told once that great chefs believe you eat it their way or you dont, I guess thats how it is at Coopers. Unless I ordered a normal eggs w/meat I did not have too much choice. I finally decide on an omelet. Two choices: a veggie or baked Ham, thats it? I picked the veggie and a side of sausage. The sauce was greasy or lardy tasting. The omelet was not an American omelet we normally would receive but a Denver Omelet. The taste between these two options are completely different, and I had no choice and was not aware of the Denver Omelet heading my way. My children were not completely satisfied with their breakfast either. The only happy camper was my son-in-law, he had a chicken sandwich. I love to try different things on a menu, but I like to know what Im ordering, plus it must be good. I did not eat my Denver and forced done one sausage. I also received the creamy has browns but thought I was getting regular hash browns? If Id go back, I dont know what I would order because the menu does not tel you what youll actually receive. Keith

This place is a paragon of customer service! Now, granted, I went there by myself and a party of one was probably easier to seat than others. However, at all times I had the staff working to make sure the me -the single guy sitting alone at a small table- was treated fantastically. All around me, I saw the larger tables also treated very well. Best waiters, best waitresses, best greeters/hosts/hostesses in any restaurant Ive been to in a long, long time! If the Food and Ambiance were as good as the fantastic service, this would be the best, around. The problems: 1. The noise level. This is way too high; I will probably not return if I have more than myself. 2. Televisions. These gaudy, HD, wide-screen monstrosities have crept into every restaurant, now. I honestly dont need to see late-season political advertising during my meal: and during October 2010, that kept happening. Since I cant hear the TVs, theres also no reason to have them showing sports, comedies, or anything else. Theyre a distraction. 3. Light-level. After daylight hours, each table is lit with a candle or two. I had brought a book with me on the off-chance I would have to wait a bit. I couldnt even read the menu without lifting up the candle and holding it up to it. Positives: 1. The decor is great except, in the after-day hours, the place is so dimly lit, you cant really make out much of it. 2. The food is very original and worth it.

I wanted soup. He wanted salad. It was 12 oclock and we couldnt think of anything else so we walked to Coopers. Sadly, we got neither of those because the happy hour menu is limited and has nothing soupy or green. The place is what it always has been; an American imagination of what a dark Irish bar should be. Its nice, full of dark wood and quiet music, but not quite cozy enough or warm enough. It should feel close and warm. We sat down, ordered iced tea and an assortment of appetizers: stuffed mushrooms, chicken wontons, and a place of humus with pita chips, veggies, and sweet potato crisps. The mushrooms are good; rich, toasty, with a pleasant contrast between a crisp topping and a gooey inside. Chicken wontons: a wonton skin wrapped around what seemed to be the same chicken that Cooper uses in its Chicken Poppers. Humus: the humus was fine, the veggies were veggies, the pita "crisps" are apparently old pita that Cooper dried out some. Needless to say, not so good. Three stars because its average. Its a decent pub. Its just kinda what it is.

Terrible service. We arrived and the place was nearly empty, we sat at a high table where a group of friends were already seated. Then went to the bar to get a drink, the bartender refused to serve us, because we were at a table. We went back to wait for a waitress, it took 20 minutes for one to show up. We ordered drinks, it took another 20 minutes for the drinks to show up. The waitress never brought us menus, even though we wanted to eat. Eventually she came back, and we asked for menus and another drink, which took another 20 minutes. Finally we ordered food, and it took an hour for the food to arrive. The food tasted fine, no complaints there, but it sure took long enough to get it. After this we left an appropriately small tip, and the waitress confronted us, with an attitude about the lack of a good tip. We told her our complaints about the service. She proceded to add mandatory gratuity on everyone elses tabs, even though we werent seated together, and didnt order together. I will never go back again.

Food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded expectation. I stopped in while on business trip and against my better judgement tried the steak (generally Irish pubs dont offer anything more than a hangar, flank, or skirt steak). However, the tenderloin (probably 2 thick x 3 wide in size) they served was of the same quality I get at respected steakhouses in my hometown of Washington, DC, which was also served with a delicious mushroom gravy on the side, and the Brussels sprouts I had substituted as a side were a solid addition. Draft beer selection was strong (I went with New Castle) and what you expect from an Irish pub. Live music was great and ambiance was more on the side of upscale Irish pub and restaurant. Strongly recommend. P.S. Props to the chef for cooking the steak to perfection. No need to order under temp for fear of it being overcooked.

First of all, if you have a iPhone forget about looking at their menu online. Cooper, please get with the times and get your web developer to get your menu mobile ready. The hostess was great. Decor is really cool. Makes you feel like you are in an old downtown hotel. Apps came out fast but we waited nearly 30 mins for entrees. My chicken sandwich was so over cooked it was like jerky. My mothers salmon was apparently excellent. Prices were reasonable for the selection. Waitress must have not been in serving long; did not refill drinks or offer more cocktails to my parents. My parents said they would go back (they are from out of town) but I probably will not. Worth checking out, but do not be surprised if you are disappointed.

On a slow summer Sunday evening, I enjoyed a quiet dinner at what I imagine is a lively pub at other times. Parmesan Crusted Walleye was on the specials menu and being in from out of state, I took this as an opportunity to enjoy a Minnesota favorite. This turned out to be a very good idea. It was excellent, both in flavor and presentation. Honestly, I wasnt expecting something presented so artfully. The indoor space is spacious with what I would describe as an opulent 1920s theme. There are also outdoor tables. I recommend the food. Added note - Weve been back a few more times and food is consistently delicious. Their Fish and Chips is one of our favorites. Its made with a large portion of fresh fish.
