I came here last week with my girlfriend cause Ive yet to find a good Korean spot in the Twin Cities..This place is no different than any of the other places Ive tried. The food was meh and menu was way overpriced..I wanted to try their galbi or bulgogi..but it was WAY too expensive after looking at how little they give you. It was like $20+ for galbi and bulgogi for a small sizzling platter... Now onto the review.. My girlfriend wanted Sundubu (soft tofu soup)..but after all the experiences of sundubu in Minnesota.. I was terrified. Lets just say this place didnt change my view of it. We ordered the mushroom sundubu and it was quite disappointing. The tofu was all grounded up so its hard to even tell its tofu. There was barely any soup..as you can tell from my pictures. I found it interesting they also add jalapenos in their tofu soup....thats a first.. It did not match with the soup at all. Overall, I wouldnt recommend the tofu soup, especially if youve had good tofu soup in California or New York. It was definitely the worst tofu soup Ive had in my life. I ordered the Jjamppong, which is a Korean seafood noodle soup dish. This was disappointing as well. The soup was very bland and lacking flavor.. The ingredients they used were cheap as well. They put in a lot of shrimp, but it was the tiny cheap and frozen type.. The mussels, squid and octopus were okay though. One good thing is they give plenty of noodles, so youll get full for sure. It may not be good..but youll get full. Lastly, we shared the japchae noodles. This was probably the only decent thing we ordered. It was strong tasting and had lots of good meats and vegetables. The noodles were good as well. Banchan (Side dishes) - It was decent.. came with the usual: Fish cake, potatoes, broccoli, kimchi, and some other stuff. You also get free refills on them. Ill give other Korean spots in the Twin Cities chances, but the options are dwindling!

I lived in Korea for 6 years and this was the first Korean restaurant I went to. I was largely disappointed. The selection is pretty tame. I had to tell my family this is pretty weak Korean food and I hated doing that. Wheres the 해장국? 감자탕? 닭갈비? Overall I felt the selection was pretty weak. If these things cant be made because of legal and economic realities then it should be forgiven, but damnit youre cheating your customers by only offering the "bacon and eggs" or just plain "hamburger" of Korean food" The Galbi was good, the pork was good, the doenjangguk was ok, but none of these were great or matched what I consistently got in Korea. The doenjangguk had way too much veggies and tofu and not enough soup broth. I was kind of shocked that the chef was korean and made korean food that strayed so far from actual korean food. Now, if this food was adapted to fit the market through trial and error then this can be forgiven. Afterall, you stupid americans dont know what good korean food is, and if this is the owners menu through trial and error to make a profit then who am I to say how it should be run? Ive been there twice because it was the closest korean restaurant. I encourage you to go at least once because the prices are "aight" and you wont break the bank. You will get some decent food, but probably not good enough to make it the first thing in your mind.

OVER-RATED, OVER-PRICED, and TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! AVOID THE KOREAN BBQ and ROAST!! BEEF BULGOGI tasted liked FROZEN processed beef fried with onions and sadly NO special korean sauce. The GALBI beef ribs was pan fried, dry, and NO bbq sauce. The seafood was on the spicy side and not very tasty. However, the few noodle dishes they do offer turn out to be decent, but over-priced for what you get and all you get is NOODLES. Went there with a group of 14 people on 2/11/12 for dinner. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to get our order in and we had to wait even longer for the food to arrive. We were seated near a room filled with a bunch of men and the whole time all we could hear were a bunch of LOUD OBNOXIOUS KOREAN men shouting at each other. If we wanted to talk, we had to yell; however, it turned to a shouting match because the folks in the room were trying to talk over us the whole time. Overall, the SERVICE and FOOD were a big DISAPPOINTMENT! The food may come in a big fat bowls and plates; however, the portion and taste does not justify the cost. If you want good KOREAN FOOD GO TO MIRROR OF KOREA, or HOBAN!

Fantastic and authentic Korean food, including delicacies not available anywhere else in town (for the extremist try "blood sausage with offal"). Looking through the all these whining 1 and 2 star reviews it seems the main complaints are poor service, expense, and spicyness. As for expense, I have no rebuttal, but you get what you pay for. Spicyness... well, it is a Korean restaurant, and if you cant stand the heat... The service may not be great, though Ive never had an issue with it. Anyway, isnt that one of the two laws of great Asian food: 1. Dingier establishments have stood the test of time and usually have better food than cleaner looking places 2. When busy, quality of service is inversely proportionate to quality of food. Bad service = good food. If you cant handle that then "no soup for you!" That said, Ive only had good experiences with Kings plus they make good kimchi. I havent tried the sushi. Also, Sole Cafe on Snelling has great food but a smaller menu.

Im not one for buffets but the buffet at Kings was wonderful! Lots to choose from and since Im not in to vanilla buffets with all the same things Kings was a treat. Friendly employees with smiles on their faces to welcome you and the food was great! Staff was friendly and quick to serve. If you like a little spice and something out of the ordinary youve got to try Kings. I didnt get to try all the dishes the first time so Ill be going back to try the other dishes on the buffet. If the buffet was this good I have to think that dinner has to be even better! Also, Ive been told by the rest of the family that I need to take them there the next time I go. :) If you like authentic Korean flavor you have to go to Kings! Love it!!! Oh - and the kimchee is better than youll get at any Asian store!

A review of Kings should really be two part. The first part is how it compares to other Metro area Korean restaurants. To this end, Kings is one of the top 2 (the other being a hidden hole-in-the-wall spot). Their panchan is the freshest out of all the Korean places around, and the entrees have a lot of flavor. The service is good if youre somewhat of a regular, but theyre a bit slow. The second part is how it compares to non-Metro Korean restaurants that Ive been to. It isnt the best, and it doesnt offer some kinds of meals like table-side barbecue. The ingredients are quite as fresh either. That being said Ive also had much worse Korean food so Kings is still in my top 4.
