Weve been desperately trying to find a great Korean restaurant, my boyfriend and I, both from Colorado where there are amazing Korean restaurants. Since he is Korean, he is super picky. We read some good reviews about Mirror of Korea, so we risked bringing some family members hoping to share our Korean food passion with some first timers. Our overall assessment of the food here: decent. Dishes and review: bulgogi-poor(!), kimchijigae-good, kimchi fried rice-very good, dol sot bibimbap-good, galbi tang-good. The most noteworthy food experience was the bulgogi. Ive never had such bland bulgogi before!! On top of that, it tasted/looked like it had been steamed then dried. The absolute worst bulgogi dish weve ever had. It was very disappointing. On the positive, my boyfriend always gets kimchijigae whenever its on the menu, and he said it was pretty good. That means better than most. Side dishes were also pretty good. We liked the eggs, kimchi, and pancakes best. Service was on the poor side. The server forgot one of our orders, but when we asked about it, she replied, "Do you still want it?" She was pretty absent during our meal-never came back to refill our drinks once or even ask if we needed anything (just once is all we need). Decor-what decor? I guess weve just been spoiled in Colorado because well never go back to this place. Tip: weve really enjoyed the food at Korea House and Dong Yang Oriental Foods (the delicious food and more affordable prices make up for no decor and no service).

The parking can be a hassle, theres not a lot of parking due to small parking lots. For drinks you get no refill, it comes in a can and you can open it and fill up your own cup that they put on the side with ice inside the cup. The first time I took my brother and my cousin from France for their first time with Korean food, my brother ordered gingsang tea, and wanted refill and the dude told us, theyll have to charge extra, and no refill. Ill come again, but I do admit the price its kinda overwhelming. For four simple dishes fried rice, regular bibimbap, fried fish, naymyung that comes with four slices if small pork meet that has mostly bones total of $15.00 that I couldve made myself at home for ten times cheaper and taste better lol.. and two pop and a gingsang tea I ended up paying $67.00 eluding tips. The second time was great, one lady who was about my mothers age in her 50s, 60s was very welcoming, taught me Korean. Helped my friend pick a good dish, spicy tofu.

I lived in Korea for 6 years so I believe i know what good korean food tastes like. This was the first Korean place I went to and I was the beginning of my disappointment. The place smelled weird-- which ironically all restaurants in korea with good food do. The service was good and quick. The food wasnt quite right. My moms Squid-fried-rice 오징어볶음 or 오징어덥밥 had good color and consistency but was very watered down with spice (maybe its YOU and your damn midwestern taste buds). It has a lot of qualities but was missing flavor. My Soondooboo, was way off. WAAAAY too much tofu. I felt like thats all there was. I tried to eat it all but ultimately too much tofu, not enough broth or grease, and I like me some grease. The color of the broth was really on the creamy side. Go here ONCE to try it. GO her TWICE for the service and to be sure.

A very informal place, with spectacular food. We have never had a bad meal here, and we probably go there half dozen or more times a year. We live on the west side of Minneapolis, and have no other reason to go to St Paul other than Mirror of Korea. I first went here with a group from work in the mid nineties. Korean food might be an acquired taste for some. I personally love it. Kimchee stew would be a safe start. Each entree comes with small bowls of side dishes that they will refill throughout your meal. Only two reservations, the menu is fairly incomprensible but the wait staff is more than accomodating. I have had friends describe what they are looking for, and the servers will find the items for them. The other reservation is the accoustics. If crowded, its kind of hard to hear. Recommend highly.

My family and I moved here a year and half ago from Texas, where we always had great Korean food. After trying a few different Korean restaraunts in the area we decided to drive to Mirror of Korea which is at least a 30 min drive for us. We have been going back every since. We have never had a bad experience here and have always enjoyed the dishes. Me living in Korea for a little while, I know their manners and the food, it makes me feel like Im back in Korea and they remember their customers. If you understand the culture than you will feel right at home here. Great place! Great food! My family and I will continue eating here while we live in Mn.

These guys have been here almost forever it seems and the deco is never updated but the food has not lost its magical touch youre sure to enjoy the selective menu. One unique feature to this restaurant are the generous little sides or horsdeurves of up to six dishes per person, alongside entrees. What makes it really extra special is these are all handmade genuine Korean treats that you cannot beat in a supermarket. PS you can buy small amounts separately Staff are friendly, swift and precise with heavy accents but perfectly understandable and they do enjoy a little chit chat... Maybe not weekends though cuz they get real busy!

i wish i can do half star coz they foods are half food and half some leafs lol in an order .... they charge double of the money on foods than other korean places whose foods taste way better and more in plates... the service was awful, we reserved for 10 people ( friend`s birthady dinner ), when we got there, they have table set for 8 people together and said 2 can sit on the other side in their kind a like booths, what the hell !!!!! ok so when we asked for more of the kimchis to the waitress, she never came back till at the end to drop the bill and asked us if everything is okay? bad place to be...

The food here is ok. However, the customer service is terrible. They are extremely rude and do not value repeat customers. They charge you the same amount for a meal regardless of whether you dine-in or take-out; however, they only give you 2 or 3 side dishes for take out, and the portions are smaller. When I asked them about it, they stated, "If you dont like it, dont get food here." I dont think Ive ever heard that at a restaurant, especially one that Ive been to probably 30 times. Hoban is the place to go, even though their food is not quite as good.

Ive only been here once, and my experience with Korean food in general is pretty limited, but it took all my willpower not to eat directly off the plate with my entire face after the first couple bites of our appetizers. The various kimchee veggies were amazingly good, and everything was fresh and incredibly hot (temperature-wise, although there was also a good - but not excessive - amount of spice). I imagine that this little place reminds a lot of folks of warm memories of their grandmothers cooking.
