Food: 4 and 1/2 star. Authentic, tasty Korean food. Clean with nice atmosphere. I am however giving this place 3 stars because of my overall experiences during the past 3 visits or so here. Every time, it looked like they had only one server covering every table and the service was just very, very slow. Especially during the last visit, it took us forever just to get our credit cards back and even that was after we repeatedly tried to get the waitresss attention while she was walking around nearby. Like I said already, this wasnt a one-time experience. I realize that 3-star is harsh as it really is a nice restaurant with good food, but I do hope that a feedback like this will eventually get to the owner and he will improve this. Their service actually used to be very good in the past, but it has become frustrating. If youre going here for dinner, then I would recommend that you give yourself plenty of time that evening because you may be there for longer than you expected.

Went there yesterday with my husband. We went to two other Korean places and this place is the best ! Who doesnt like free refills on their side dishes?! The side dishes are really good ! The food was bomb. You couldnt ask for more ! They bring out the food fresh and I just love biting into it knowing its gonna be hot and ready for me. The server was really great even though she was the only one so the service is a little slow but that shouldnt affect anything. You must try this place. We will be coming back with my baby in a month or two. P.s. the portions are really good! Kimbap roll for 7.99 we were expecting only 7 pieces wrong ! We got probably 3 rolls for 7.99 thats really cheap. But I aint complaining .

Food: I ordered the marinated pork and loved my meal. It was just the right level of spicy when served with white rice. My husband tried the octopus, which had the exact same flavors, but just didnt work quite as well. Wouldnt do that again. The atmosphere was a little dreadful. I felt like I was in a daycare that got converted to a restaurant by night. I wanted to give the service somewhere between a happy and sad face. It wasnt bad, but it certainly wasnt impressive. We would have run out of water if they didnt bring it in large bottles. On the whole, Id go back, but I dont have total confidence in everything on their menu yet.

Was excited to try out a new Korean restaurant, but when my fiancé and I arrived at a restaurant, no one (hostess nor the waitresses) greeted us the whole time. (15 minutes or so) There were few empty tables, so it wasnt packed or anything. Finally someone saw us and said they were about to seat us. We waited another 5 minutes, but she never came back so we just left. Didnt expect much for the service if we stayed there anyways. Maybe well go back there when its "less" busy.

I ate an appetizer with my daughters and was awaiting my check to be picked up. The waitress was talking to an older guy for a while so I stood up to let her know I was ready...after having waited for an unnecessary amount of time. I did not leave a tip when I paid. I selected on the key pad "no tip". She ran after me and said "you didnt leave me a tip!". I know I didnt. I couldnt believe it! Who does this....? I will select another korean restaurant next time.

I visited here three times here. The first two visits about two years ago were horrible because my fiancee and I ordered two dishes and waited like more than 1.5 hours to get my food on my table. I visited here last week since one of my friends wanted to eat some Korean foods. This time I was pretty satisfied. I ordered seafood soft tofu soup, which was great. Side dishes were pretty authentic. On top of that, they served the foods very quickly!!

The hot water in the bathroom will burn you, the sink was clogged, and they have napkins for paper towels--which obviously disintegrate when wet. When you sit down you have no option but attractive but hard, uncomfortable wooden chairs. The rest of the environment is attractive, however. They do have a good vegetarian selection and very well priced lunch specials 11-3 M-F. The food is delicious and worth the visit.

I spent 12 month station in Korea 2004-2005. Bibim Bop has always been my favorite dish that is just too hard to find here in the USA. This place is flat out AMAZING!!! It is well worth the extra $1 to have the dish prepared in the cast iron skillet ! The only bummer for me is that I didnt find this place sooner AND there isnt a place to take a nap after stuffing myself

Hands down, the absolute best Korean food in Kansas City. Im pretty particular about my Korean food, as is my family. I can say that without a doubt, Sobahns dishes are always excellent as is their service. Members of my family frequent Sobahn several times a month, always a good experience. I usually get the Kim-chi Jigae, Dukbokki or Bi Bim Bap (In the hot bowl).

My daughter and I come here alot and normally its great, a little slow. But great servers. This time my daughter tried something new and the squid was to hard to chew, so we asked if we could pay for chicken in the same dish. But was told there was nothing that could be done. Made me feel as if they thought we were trying to get over, that hurts. Last visit.....

An excellent dining experience. Went with the wife for dinner here on a Friday night. We had the kamja tung, which is my standard for grading Korean restaurants. The food was really good, but they subdued the spices, probably for local tastes. The decor set a perfect atmosphere for relaxing dining. The service was friendly and courteous. Highly recommend.

The food was excellent. So was the presentation. The atmosphere was nice. The music was a little odd. The service was very friendly and apologetic for the wait time on the food. Some may have docked a star for the slow serve time but I wasnt in a hurry and the waitresses came to my table many times to ensure I was ok.

One of my favorite Korean Restaurants in the area. They keep their menu up to date with the best & most popular Korean dishes. The only thing that bothers me is that they do run out of some of the popular dishes quite a bit (like dumplings & kimbap), so if you dont get there early you may not get any.

Delicious Korean dishes! Bipimbap and Bulgogi are fantastic. I recently traveled to Seoul and was looking for authentic dishes in KC and I found it. The lunch specials are slightly smaller portions (and cheaper) with 2 sides while dinner portions are bigger and have 5 sides.

The food and the service is SUPERB!!!! I really enjoy the taste of Korea...having spend 8 years in Seoul I missed the aroma and flavors that you can only experience in South Korea until I found this restaurant! Now I can enjoy my favorites right here in my own backyard.

A group of 5 of us had a delightful dinner. They were packed on Wednesday night. 3 of us had steaks and 2 seafood. Steaks were great quality and cooked to perfection. Craft Beer and wine selection was very good. Desserts were great. Definitely recommend.
