Love the coffee and the pastries, but what sets the Hag apart is the staff. I came in the other night for smoky mozz pasta salad (so delicious!) and some decaf coffee (the Hag is basically the only coffee shop in town open past 8 pm, thus the decaf.) The barista apologized that he was out of decaf at the moment, but he offered to brew a fresh batch, and bring it to me when it was ready if I didnt mind waiting. This was *awesome* and I really appreciated it. The Hag also has tables that you can actually do work or play board games on, comfy couches, wonderful food, and delicious beverages. Its everything a coffee shop should be, and its definitely Mankatos finest. Try the Monster Cookies!!!

My wife, daughter and I have spent some time in Mankato and feel lucky to have found the Hag. We were in town in the coldest weekend in January for Reiki attunement at Sun Moon Yoga Studio. My daughter (2.5 yrs old) had fallen asleep and the big leather couch doubled as her bed for an hour or so whilst I surfed the net, drank goood warm coffee and had the best oatmeal/chocolate bar Ive ever had. MmMmM! When she woke from her nap, we went to collect my wife at the yoga studio and returned... the owner gave my daughter a gazing ball that she sells there. Cool people here...we are back in town and will be returning for a bar. :)

This is hands down the best place to feel welcome, enjoy homemade food (some of the product is made from local food sources and a local flour mill provides them flour ), get free trade organic coffee and teas, and enjoy Old Town Mankato. Walk down the street to get ice cream at Mom and Pops, fix your bike at Nicollet Bike Shop, and grab an alcoholic beverage at the Wine Cafe. Really a gem place in a fantastic location.

Fantastic coffee, beautiful atmosphere and treats to delight people with every palate. The fudgy oat bars are a sinful treat worth sharing with a friend or guarding jealously for yourself. Open mic nights, live music, and artwork from local artists on display are common. The Hag has ingrained itself as an institution in the heart of the community, and I wishvit many more years of success and community engagement!

Coffee is great no doubt. However, what makes the Hag the best coffee shop in town is they built a community around their business. They built the kind of atmosphere that is rare to come by in the Midwest. I go because of the crowd it attracts and the wonderful employees they have. Even if all they sold was decaf Dollar General coffee I would still pick the Hag over any of Mankatos other shoppes. Thumbs ups

This review will simply state the excellent things that others have said about this shop. They are a very forward-thinking and interesting coffee shop with great selection of beverage options. They even have local artist come and play. They position themselves not only as a business but as a culture builder for our town. This is exactly what this city needs, and we need more of this!

The coffee is excellent, roasted well but not burned. Delicious food, great tea selection, friendly staff, mellow music selections, solid wifi, and all-around good atmosphere all make it a great place to meet friends or just chill for a while. The Hag also regularly hosts local artists and musicians. Would give this place 6 stars if I could.

While you might think the excellent service and ambiance is responsible for the 5 stars (and it could be on its own), but the real hero here is the coffee. The foam on my 16 oz. Craft Latte couldnt be creamier, and the beans offer a crisp and robust flavor. Beautiful decor. Beautiful coffee. 5 stars.

Love this quiet little coffee shop in the downtown area! Coffee and food are amazing and the staff is great too. Great place to come chill with your caffeinated drink. Whether youre here to study or grab a quick drink on your way, youre missing out if you dont stop at Coffee Hag!

Loved this little coffee house! Excellent coffee and tastefully respectful decor. They even had gluten free cookies, and a stage, though no one happened to be performing at the time. Still, if I lived in this town, I could feel myself spending hours in this place every weekend.

The local choice for coffee and pastries in Old Town Mankato. (Heck, ALL of Mankato.) If you want to get away from typical, corporate coffee, check out the Hag. Eclectic atmosphere and great coffee products. Robust WiFi and great music on the weekends.

The Coffee Hag is not just the best coffee in Mankato, it is a community of acceptance and unconditional friendship. Jen has created a customer and employee centric business model that should be emulated by any hopeful entrepreneur. Five Stars Plus!

The Coffee Hag is Mankatos crowning gem of an independent coffeeshop, where the coffees good and strong, the foods delicious, the people genuine but friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming to all.

The coffee is fantastic! I love their Mayan Sun blend, very unique, just the right amount of kick and delicious! Seating can be limited, similar to most independent coffee shops, but it has a very cozy atmosphere.

Avoid the chain coffee places while youre in Mankato, and visit this gem of a coffee shop. You wont be disappointed. In addition to a variety of coffees, you can buy bulk beans and they have a vegetarian menu.

Very nice friendly staff. I have no idea about coffee houses and what to order, or what anything is, and they helped me get the best cup of coffee I have had in a long time. Way better than not terrible coffee.

Three coffees always up, a regular, a flavored, and a decaf. Flavored choices are interesting. $3.53 for a large to go, but its not gas station coffee. Nice and clean, good decor.

This is the spot if youre looking to try something other than the homogeneous flavors of franchise coffee shops. Coffee options are unique and savory. I recommend the Mayan Sun.

This is my to-go place on weekends. They usually have some live music. Nice people and the owner is fun too. A little bit chili inside, so having a layer is advised.

Good coffee and other caffeinated beverages. The Lattes tend to lean towards the bitter side, not sweet. The Hummus wraps are a nice treat for lunch.

Always love going there, might I suggest less wooden chairs, and more cushion chairs/couches like you had before? I would stay there twice as long.
