We celebrated the fiftieth birthday of my friend Kris last night at the River Inn. When I called to make reservations, the person who answered was very polite and explained that they do not take reservations, but she would take my name, number in the party and time and she would try to get us in close to that time. Even though it was a Monday night, the place was hopping, but we were seated right when we arrived. I had mentioned the birthday celebration and we were pleasantly greeted by at least three staff who wished Kris a happy birthday. Off to a great start. It only got better. Our waiter Adam was by far the best server any of us had ever experienced, and we go out a lot! He was attentive, kind, polite and genuinely was interested in making our dinner a wonderful expereince. I observed Adam with the same attention and care with all of his customers. Whatever you are paying him, he deserves more! He made our night fantastic! The food was good as well, came quickly, perfectly to order and was warm. Kris was offered either a free drink or dessert for her birthday and she opted for the cheescake. It was excellent! I plan on recommending the River Inn to all my friends, even though it is clear to me you already have a good reputation and are not lacking for customers. Thank you for a very special dinner and celebration.

We decided to eat out for fathers day this year. We had to wait awhile for a table, but walked to the historic bridge and enjoyed watching the river. They had a little bucket with scratch offs, golf balls, fishing tackle, snickers bars...all for all the fathers to pick out a little something. Our food was amazing and the service was even better! We were able to eat outside on the little patio and had such an enjoyable time. Ive been here numerous times and have never had a bad meal! We will continue to come back for the great people, food and atmosphere!

River Inn quickly became our favorite restaurant when we moved to the area almost 20 years ago. Nothing has changed -- the food is still fabulous and the service outstanding. Jody would make an excellent air-traffic controller for how efficiently and pleasantly she works with customers and staff on busy nights. And on those nights, if you want to avoid the wait and the crowds, do what we do: Call in a takeout pizza order (a large Jackies Best IS the best, IMO) and watch everyone drool as you zip in and zip out with your meal.

I have had the opportunity to use Hanover River Inn both personally and professionally. Personally I love the down home feel you get when you walk in the door. It is one of those places where people remember your name and are glad to see you when you return. Their food and service are excellent. As for using the Hanover River Inn for catering for our business I have never been disappointed. The food is always ready on time, it is hot and always finger licking good. Jodi and her staff are an A+ in my book!

Excellent food but so jammed with people. We came at 4:30 Friday evening. Got seated at a table kind of in the entryway next to the line of people waiting and packed in so tight with other corner tabke. People leaned on the back of chair constantly and bumped all the time. Excellent service but was very uncomfortable seating. Wouldnt go back on a Friday night again. But do love the food and service. The 3 star rating is because of the poor seating.

Awesome community oriented establishment. I am the Principal of Salem Lutheran School just outside of Hanover and have called them many times to support initiatives that we are promoting at school. They are always excited to help. From Reading Challenges to Washington DC field trips, they are happy to assist in whatever way possible. Im so thankful for the people at the River Inn. Oh, and the food is top-notch as well.

I loved the atmosphere and everything else about this place. My one complaint is about the quality of the chicken breast on the salad. It was very artificial tasting and rubbery. I think this was a pressed meat product- but even fast food salads do not use this low a quality chicken on their main dish salads. Just wanted to give you my opinion on this for us salad ordering patrons!

We love this place! Ok so the ribs are fall off the bone delicious, but the staff are above and beyond. They could serve me dog food and I would be happy. They are so accommodating and friendly and make you feel so welcome. Their bartending skills are above average and our server was one of the best I have had. A tip of 35% didnt seem adequate. This place is awesome!

Jody, Rick and staff have customer service down to a T! We love that they know pretty much everyone by name or at least remember your face! This has been our favorite place to eat since we moved from the city 9 years ago. The building has changed some but not the atmosphere! Tammy and Jon, you guys are the best servers EVER! Thank you for remaining true to yourselves.

It was our first time dining here. We loved it and will return again--even though its nearly 45 minutes from our home. If you are anywhere near this area of the Twin Cities, we recommend you stop. The service was warm & welcoming. The food was great. We suggest you sit in the porch by the gas fireplace! Hats off to Zoe--one of the best servers weve ever had!

The River Inn is a sweet gem. Small, great food, easy prices and killer service. Its only downfall is its size ... so you better show up early or be fine with standing around sipping on a drink or playing pull tabs while you wait. I have yet to find something on the menu that doesnt crush and if you get a burger, wrap or sandwich ... get the tots.

My last visit to the River Inn was after golf league with a few others this week. Those that hadnt been there before couldnt believe how good the pizza was and how fast it came. My wife and two teenage sons also love to go. Usually a bit of a wait, but Jodi is so attentive and keeps you posted on how much longer to expect. Great food; great service!

This is easily one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities area. The food is always excellent, Jodi, the owner, is ALWAYS there and she always stops by our table with a special greeting. Our teenagers love it too. Now that the smoking ban is statewide, I really cant imagine a better place to go. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

This is my favorite place to go!!! Its cozy and friendly and the food is fantastic! Staff is so friendly. You may have to wait (which I dont mind doing) but it is worth it. The salads are huge so expect that. The burgers are delish! The ribs sell out quickly so dont be upset if you get there late.
