I usually never write a review but I believe I need to for this restaurant and help warn other customers. And unfortunately, its a very negative one but this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Forest Lake! Its very poorly managed, has terrible customer service, has misleading menu options. Last night, I took my two little girls there after a Mulan play thinking we would be there for about an hour or so. I never take my girls out this late as its way past their bedtime but I wanted to do something special for them after the play. So we arrived to Perkins at around 9:30pm. There was no one to greet us or seat us. Finally, after waiting for several minutes, I saw a lady getting desserts (who I found out later was one of the managers) which are showcased in the front and asked her if we could get seated at a booth. So we got seated and the waitress got us drinks (never once smiled). She came back and asked for our order but we hadnt decided at that time yet. After we decided, it took probably over 20 minutes to get our order taken!!!20 minutes!! This was actually after I asked the same manager lady (that I first saw in the front) if she could go get our waitress because our order wasnt taken yet! During this whole time, my girls are asking me when theyre going to get their food. So I had to explain to them many times over that our order hasnt been taken yet so they can be patient and wait a while for their food. Anyways, our order was finally taken. No apologies. No explanations from the waitress! I was polite and told her I was not happy that it took about half an hour to take our order even though I knew it was busy on a Friday night. She never apologized but did ask if the kids wanted a muffin. I said No thanks because I didnt want to spoil their appetite. So anyways, about another 30 minutes past. Its now probably past10:30pm and we still havent received our food (besides the bland tasting salad for my meal)! Never once did the waitress come and check on us or even look at our direction! When I saw her, I had to ask her to check on the food! Again, no apologies or anything! I understand that its a busy friday night and that theres a huge party of kids in the room adjacent to us but no apologies, explanations, or anything!!! We FINALLY get our food: a hamburger for me, 2 kids meals with pancakes and fruit for the girls! Nothing complicated or exquisite ordered! Which is why I went there in the first place! We finally left around 11PM after eating our food. I called right after I left and talked to another older manager lady whom answered. I politely explained to her my disappointments about the long wait and the terrible customer service. She actually apologized and seemed sympathetic which I really appreciated but it didnt change my experience there whatsoever! I explained to her the best thing that she could do was make sure that she and all of the other managers and employees communicate better with their customers (on wait time, on apologizing, having a positive attitude, etc.). Please dont ever go there!! We should not support a restaurant that is so poorly managed and treats you poorly!

When I first moved to Forest Lake with my family we came here for breakfast like we used to do when we lived in Blaine. This is off topic but the Blaine location is pretty good. My first trip to Forest Lake Perkins last year was terrible. It took us an hour just to get our food and the manager gave us 10% off our meal which was a joke. The waitress was terrible as well. I saved more on the tip that I did not give. I swore I would never go back there again but I made the mistake of "giving them another chance". I took my family there on the 4th of July this year and we got seated immediately. The table they sat us at, however, had not been completely bused yet. The person who sat us there just mentioned that it was half done, finished in front of us leaving a nice wet table for us to sit at with no silverware. To top it off there was food crumbs all over the seats. Tried to mention it and was ignored completely. This was strike one. We order our drinks and the waitress comes back with my coffee and she sets the cup and the thermos on the table directly in front of me and walks away. Didnt bother to even pour my first drink. Strike two. Takes us 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered. I got the southern chicken and biscuits with gravy and the biscuits were rock hard. Strike three. I swear on everything holy that I will never step foot in this place ever again and I will never recommend it to anyone. This place is terrible.

Service is mediocre. Food is pretty tasty. The most prominent aspect of this restaurant though is two windows. Two of the windows in this restaurant vibrate. Perhaps it is more of a slight wobble. Initially when one observes the slightly wobbled oscillatory motions of the two window panes, you might be rather unsettled. After further observation it is a rather intriguing feature that sets this fine eating establishment apart from the plethora of identical eateries sharing the rather venerable title of Perkins. Through experimentation it has been reasoned that the cause of the vibrating windows was likely due to the placement of ventilators directly above the windows, causing the vibrations with the oscillations of a motor. The remaining windows throughout the eatery were found to remain still, and they had no ventilators placed directly above them. Although these findings have yet to be subjected to peer review, the evidence is sufficient enough to be accepted as a very likely theory and allow a handful of well fed customers to leave satisfied in their scientific contributions to this eating establishment. In conclusion, I urge you to stop at this Perkins, for the vibrating windows are truly a sight to see, even though the service and food quality are nothing to behold.

If zero stars were an option it would be more fitting. Our server was Leanne and was the ruedess and slowest waitress I have ever had. Breakfast should be the fastest meal to go out for right? Well not with Leanne tending to you. After being seated in a mostly empty restaurant we waited 25 minutes to have her acknowledge that were even there. We quickly ordered because we had plenty of time to look over the menu and make our decisions. It took 15 minutes for her to bring out a cup of coffee and two waters. After we we hydrated we waited another 20 to eat, the food was okay just like anyother Perkins. We devoured our food quickly. Then we sat with empy plates and cups in front of us for another 15 minutes before we could flag Leanne down to give us our bill. Over all terrible experience witch is unfortunate because I have never had an experience quite like this at a Perkins, or anyother restaurant, before.

SPOILER ALERT: They forgot our water, food, had slow service, no set waiter, and we dropped our pie. However the entertainment was great! Why? Ill tell you why. There were vibrating windows! As my colleagues and I were eating our mediocre food, we saw quite a sight. The windows that were completely inside the restaurant began to vibrate in the light. This was thought to be crazy, but after a while a few other people noticed this amazing phenomena. The cause is yet unknown: poltergiests, vents, psychadelic mushrooms, caswell, barometric temperature, repressed anger towards my parents or the grace of the flying spaghetti monster. No matter the cause everyone agreed that that was the best part of their day, week and life, truely an amazing sight. ONCE IN A LIFETIME! 8th wonder of the world in my taste. I do hope you all can have the privilege of visiting this sacred sight.
