My husband and I came here for dinner last night - this used to be one of our favorite places to get a "great hamburger". We both were so disappointed...the service was lousey, the hamburger was cold (and the meat itself had a funny taste) the buns were cold and dry, the fries were just on the border of being burnt. It took 25 minutes to get our food. I cant believe how much this restaurant has gone downhill!!! If you want to use the excuse that it must have been a busy time - it wasnt! There were several open tables. When we left to pay our bill at the cash register, one of the cooks asked the girls at the register for a rag and she tossed it to him over our heads! Real class!!! Also, you might want to tell the girls at the register to wear shirts that DONT show their cleavage - pretty tacky for a family restaurant. I think you need to do some "special training" with your employees. If you think you can just get by with your previous reputation that was built - sorry, there are too many great restaurants that care about their customers.

What a fun place to dine! We stopped on for a quick burger and loved the classic ambiance and "old school" service. Our server was super nice and we enjoyed interacting with all staff members. The food was decent, not my favorite by any means but its a good choice and great value when in the neighborhood. Was hoping their famous chicken noodle soup was better than it actually was, and the half order of fries will easily feed 2-3 people. Though its not on the top of our list, we enjoyed the overall experience and will return.

The food is better than average considering its just diner food--greasy, salty and so delicious. It is fairly pricey but its also Linden Hills, so its no more so than anywhere else. The customer service is better than most places in the neighborhood, which is part of the reason I eat here more than I probably should. Happy they now serve a smaller side of fries so that my stomach hates me a little less when I eat all of them. Also: malts.

I have been going here with my family for years and have always enjoyed our visit. Today was a shocker when our server turned out to be awful. My son was celebrating his birthday and ahe ignored him. Never brought us a box to take our leftovers home in. She had to be ask to give us some water. My 11 year old even noticed that she was reating our table differently than another table she was witing on. I am disappointed in our service.

Classic burger joint. Burgers, fries, malts, like back in the 50s. All waitstaff wears white uniforms/skirts. Only place I know where you can get a egg or meatloaf sandwich. Good crowd. Little on the expensive side, but who cares. 50s nostalgic I guess is what your paying for, but its worth it. Get a burger and a malt, and step out of reality for a bit. I love this place, but you will too.

An Authentic blast from the past. The Convention is virtually unchanged since its inception. Come hungry and expect a short wait during peak dining times. Everything rocks at the Convention Grill. The waitresses even feel like they are form the 50s. Anyone that gives less than 5 Stars has a bad attitude. 5 Stars all day!!.

I havent been here for 30 years! The french fries were as perfect as I remember them. The burger and malts are delicious but i never forgot those fries. Fresh cut. Fried. There are crispy but soft insided ones and super crunchy crispy ones. Something for everyone. Do yourself and family a favor and indulge!

amazed to see revews about poor service - my experience was the complete opposite. Hadnt ben there in years, was a bit worried it may have slipped, but got a great waitress and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Be sure to order 1/2 basket of fries - plenty to share. Coffee/chocolate shake was great.

Could be the best milkshake Ive ever had (and Ive had my share). Burger was fine, a bit overcooked for my taste (the menu said all burgers are cooked medium well, mine was well done, brown and dry throughout). Regardless, would definitely come back again, mainly to try more of their shakes.

I dont understand the positive reviews of this place! Everyone in my group agreed that the food was low quality. The atmosphere felt very awkward and there was an all encompassing grease stench. The waiter forgot my onions and the kitchen forgot the cheese on my burger. Never going back.

The food here is superb! Best place for burgers, fries and an old-fashioned malt. I love the diner style, super cute! Great location. Friendly staff. The only thing I would change is the server uniforms - the white has got to go, it feels very institutional.

Very good food. Nostalgic type of place. It is an old school ice cream style family owned parlor. Think Happy Days. Pricing is commensurate with the area. Wait staff wearing nice outfits. First class diner. Burger, fries, and pop. Runs $16 as a reference.

My husband has been going there since he was a little kid, we LOVE It, but it is a little pricey. You only need a 1/2 order of the fries to feed a whole table! Burgers and malts are great. :) The waitresses are always SO nice and love the old school feel.

Been going here and Annies Parlour in Dinkytown for 25+ years. Its good to see that some things never change. Burgers are always wonderful. Fries are always fresh and hot. And the malts are fantastic! Spectacular burger joint.

Great old fashion burger and malt shop. Love the fries and the grilled cheese along with a malt. Reasonably priced, great tasting food. Waitresses are a kick in their old fashion uniforms, and are real sweethearts.

The Chili was awesome as well as, the French fries. My dad and I had a great lunch. My dad shared with me that my grandparents used to eat here in the 1940/50s. Too cool! Its still here after all these years.

The food is classic and delicious. I am a huge fan of inexpensive, genuine diner food and convention grill does it well. If youre in the mood for a burger, fries, and a malt, this is a great place to go.

Woow is all I can say this place has the best burgers to juicy lucy burgers the meat is so soft. Yumm and the shakes are to die for great service. Good parking. This diserves a 5 Star check it out :)

Extremely expensive. Average burgers. Good homemade shakes and malts. Good fries. Service was a little slow. Waitress was nice. But 60 bucks for 4 burgers and malts is far too expensive.
