After complaining sadly that the local Taco Bell was the best Mexican food in Grand Forks, North Dakota, a friend recommended we try something different: cross the river into East Grand Forks! They told us about Casa Mexico, and off we went. Is it as good as youll find in a Los Angeles barrio hole-in-the-wall? Well, no, but thats an amazingly high bar to set for Mexican food anyway. Its an easy 3.5 stars to 4 stars compared nationwide for Mexican, and easily 5-star for this region of the country. Most importantly, it is closer to authentic than any other place save perhaps somewhere in Fargo/Moorhead that we dont know about. Our family LOVES good, authentic Mexican food, and this is as close as were going to get for - possibly - hundreds of miles. So, yeah, this is now our go-to place for Mexican in the "Greater Grand Forks" area.

Lackluster food and service. Plates came out ice cold and food lukewarm. Everything cost money, and most meals dont come with rice or beans. You get one basket of chips before you have to pay for them. I never was given a refill and my glass sat empty for the entirety of the meal. Had to send my food back because it was served a way that I did not expect. I got my check before I got my food. In fact I never got my food. The person I was eating with ate theirs and my never came back. We left before it ever came out. I will not come back and I will tell others to avoid it, because it was just that poor of an experience. It was by far the worst experience Ive ever had at any restaurant.

Food is fantastic! Service, is terrible though. Our waitress was very nice, but got three of our six orders incorrect and was very confused as to how they were incorrect. Then, it took us over 15 minutes to try to pay because they could not figure out how to work the computer and what everyone had, even as we were telling them what everyone had. Very frustrating as one person in our party had to be back to work for a meeting. I may go back for the food since it was delicious, but I will go when I have plenty of time to wait for corrected orders and paying.

Food is really, really, yummy! Best Mexican Ive been to so far in this area. The salsa they serve with the nice warm chips, is amazing! I could eat that salsa by the spoonful! LOL... Only complaint is Id like to see more plates available with more combinations. Plates with three or five different things. 1 taco, 1 burrito, 1 tostada, 1 chimichanga, etc. Great place, good service though!

Great authentic Mexican food! Service is poor. Sometimes it takes a bit to be noticed by the server upon entering so you can be seated. Have gone there numerous times and the food is always great, but you never can be certain on the quality of service. Some days the service is ok, other times is really bad, its never been great. Only giving 3 stars because the food is so good!

Our server was great. He did not hover but very aware of our needs. Despite others posts, the chips are free. My family visited on mothers day so they gave my wife a pretty daisy. The atmosphere was nice as well. The food was really good, average prices. The food order was fast. Definitely a lot better than the other Mexican food restaurants in the area.

We stopped in on a sunday evening around 7 the place was packed. Wait staff looked pretty stressed with people coming in and out. We got seated it took a while to get drinks. We ordered and after about 20 minutes we got our food. Food was amazing worth the money. 3 meals and a kids meal bill was about 50. Very good will be stopping back soon.

Horrible food plus we had to pay the tip they wanted "gratuity" the service was horrible Sergio are waiter was nice but the cost and food was horrible never again will I come back... Bill 166.35 Gratuity 24.94 Tax 11.07 For a grand total of 203.01 like really hat we ate a whole cow plus all the shrimp in the sea.

It has ups and downs. Chips were good, salsa was mealy. Entree was the best chile verde Ive ever had, but i ordered enchilada verde. The sangria was an interesting blend, but too sweet. The fried ice cream was bad. Corn flake batter that was soggy and cold before it hit the table. Not bad for the area.

Service was fast, and servers were polite and checked in when they needed to. The food though...I literally had to stop myself and breath because the chimichangas were so good. Only complaint would be the music and cheap fiesta decorations everywhere. FREE chips and salsa were good too.

As far as Authentic Mexican food goes this is as good as it gets out here. I had shrimp fajitas, and was really pleased with them. The atmosphere and décor are on point as well. My only complaint is that some of their produce is really low quality, particularly the vegetables.

We came in, were seated quickly, and within 10 minutes had our food. The servers were all business. Its a Mexican restaurant. Thats all. No bullsh-it "trying to be trendy". You get what you come looking for if what you want is good, fast Mexican food.

As far as Mexican cuisine goes up in North Dakota, this is by far pretty authentic and good Mexican food. Comes at a decent price but contains good portions as well as good taste. Ambient and mood is very vibrant and joyous. Good food. No complaints.

My family and I went for the first time on a Thursday afternoon and it was great. Service and flavor ! My wife knows authentic Mexican food and this place is the closest you will find around here, we will be back for fajitas again!

Went there for the 1st time last night. I had the chicken chimichunga and only ate 1/2of one. Last night I was up all nite long with diarrhea and vomiting, very sick. Missed a day of work due to food poisoning.

I love this place. If you havent tried it and you enjoy authentic, or somewhat closer, Mexican food, then you have to! Lots of options for people who dont like it. Their margs are good too!
