I was very disappointed with the entite experience. As I called to order delivery the women on the opposite end was very rude and very unprofessional; not someone who sounded like they cared. I was told they dont have grilled vegetables, when clearly they do. The women had hung up on me before I could get my estimated delivery time, so I called back to ask and when she answered again, she said "Yes" as if she was expecting me. Again, very unprofessional. When the delivery person came to me residence he called to ask if I was home before knocking on my door. When I got my delivery, my shrimp was cold, my soup was mush, my won-tons were cold, and I didnt get any cookies (which is basically the best part). I later called to express my dissapointment and was hung up on. Overall, I wish I could give less than one star.

The first time I went to China Garden they were in a crappy little building in East Grand Forks. I was 14 years old and obviously didnt know anything about good Chinese food, but I thought it was delicious and I had my Mom take me there everytime I got a chance. 30 years later I have lived all over the country and I have eaten the best and worst authentic chinese food in Minneapolis, Chicago, San Diego, and even Singapore a couple times. In comparison China Garden is about as good as you can expect in this little corner of the world. They make their own egg rolls (unless you get the little ones with the lunch special, they are mass produced), and they are delicious. The ingredients are sometimes not the best quality, but they have to compromise a bit to keep the prices low.

This is my go-to Chinese place in Grand Forks. The food is quite good, and consistent. When I order Chinese food, Id say this is exactly what I expect. The Generals chicken is as good as Ive had it most other places. Their Hot and Sour soup is really quite tasty. If I have any negative comments about China Garden, they would involve a long delivery wait time (45-60min) and it wouldnt hurt to be a bit more friendly over the phone. I assume harsh reviews for this place are based on those individuals feeling like they didnt have their ass kissed enough, and they assumed this was some type of Michelin star restaurant that would only cost them a twenty spot.

After experiencing horrible food from the Phoenix Wok/Grill, my expectations werent very high for a second attempt at finding decent Chinese food in Grand Forks. I dont remember the name of the dish I ordered from The China Garden (it was similar to Kung Pao chicken elsewhere, with veggies and peanuts in a spicy sauce), but it was outstanding. The quality of the meat was excellent, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, the dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Portion size was very generous - leftovers made a second meal. Staff was friendly and efficient, the restaurant was clean, bright and welcoming. Takeout was even fast. Highly recommended!

Really rude people.Poor service and horrible food. The food was delivered almost one and half hour late. When I contacted them, they said that they are busy so cant do anything about it. When I opened the boxes, the vegetable chowmein had no noodle in it, it was just a box of stir-fried veggies in sauce. When I called them again, they said that they are closing so cant deliver anything now. Didnt offer me another box of chowmein instead just offered a box of plain noodles that I could have some other day. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Regular trips have resulted in a great fondness for this restaurant. The food is always good and portions are a good value. Atmosphere is also nice with vaulted ceilings and fans to keep the delicious aromas emanating from the kitchen circulating. Service can be inconsistent based on individual servers and tables are sometimes left bussed but unwashed during busy periods. Overall a good dining experience most of the time. Take out service and quality unparalleled in Grand Forks for Chinese cuisine. Highly recommended!

So I did wish that they had included a fork in my bag, but the fact that Im still giving them a 5 should tell you that this place is amazing! First, they gave me a complimentary soup! It tasted excellent. Second, it felt like stealing because their prices are so cheap! $9 for beef lo mein? Thats crazy! Third, the beef lo mein tasted excellent. It was full of flavor and included great veggies that were enjoyable and not overcooked. Thank you for the great experience

If I could give it less stars, I would. Our waitress was rude, slow, and on her phone instead of, you know, doing her job. The food resembled inedible mush. There was no authenticity to this Chinese restaurant, whatsoever. From the soup to the entree, it was a combination of bland flavors and disappointment. Id recommend any store in the food court over this one. This is the WORST Chinese restaurant I have ever been to.

As far as Chinese food in Grand Forks goes, this is the best you can get. There are a handful of good dishes, but if youre used to a greater variety, actual honest-to-goodness spicy-hot options (as opposed to the blandness referred to "spicy" by the wusses who live here) and more traditional fares (both American-Chinese and true Chinese food), youll be disappointed. The chow funs pretty damn tasty, though.

Best Chinese in town. There are a few people on here complaining about the "Chow Mein". These people dont realize that the Chow Mein they are looking for is actually called Lo Mein. Chow Mein is a crunchy noodle and Lo Mein is the soft noodle. I really enjoy the Egg Foo Young, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Egg Rolls, Fried Rice, General Tsaos chicken. I actually havent found anything that I didnt like.

No complaints about the food at all. DONT order delivery though. Either theyll put you on hold (and keep putting you on hold) or itll take over an hour for your food to get to you. When you complain about the wait, theyll blame the driver instead of the incompetent front-end management. Moral of the story? Order takeout or eat there. Dont waste your time with delivery.

Horrible customer service!!! My boyfriend got food poisoning from their food and they refused to give us our money back unless we had a doctors note. He has been sick all night and all morning and he only had their food and its just ridiculous that they wont give us our money back. Dont eat here unless you want to be sick all night! Never going back

I donthe usually write reviews but this time I have to. I just called and placed a delivery order. Never in all my life do I remember ever speaking to a more rude woman. She acted as though having to take my order was just the worst part of her day. I sure do hope the food is much netter then her very bad attitude! !!!
