I heard about Smashburger on the radio the other day, so decided to find the nearest location to where I live and found that there was one in Apple Valley, so today my wife and I decided to stop in to give it a try. When we arrived around 2 p.m. there were only about 6 other people in the restaurant, which I thought was a little odd for somewhere that just opened and on a busy intersection. I ordered the classic big smash burger with smash fries and my wife ordered the spinach, cucumber, and goat cheese chicken sandwich (which was supposed to be a special). The African American woman who took our orders was very friendly and courteous, then she told us to have a seat and our food would be right out. So, we had a seat and about 5-10 minutes later our food came out. Once the food arrived we began eating, we started by trying the smash fries, "cooked with oil, rosemary, and garlic." To be fair, it is a nice concept and I havent had fries like it anywhere in a fast food establishment, but after about 10 fries, I really got sick of the taste and just quit eating them, my wife agreed also that the flavor was good, but gets old very fast. Next, the famous classic smashburger. After reading some good reviews about it, I was expecting it to be better than Culvers, Wendys, etc. Especially when the cheeseburger alone is 6$ plus tax, not even including fries or a drink! But to be honest, I was a little disappointed because Culvers butterburger beats the "you know what" out of their famous "smashburger." The closest thing I can compare it to is a fusion of a McDonalds quarter pounder, mixed with a Wendys burger, and that is exactly how it would taste. Overall, I would rate the burger 5/10. My wifes chicken sandwich was good she said, but nothing special either, she said she also would prefer Culvers to smashburger. I did not try her sandwich so I am just going on what she had to say about it. On a side note, as I stated above there were hardly any customers in there when we arrived, but while we were eating, we overheard an elderly woman complain that her order was wrong, so a woman (Im assuming it was a manager) came over and apologized, and about 5-10 minutes later brought the woman her correct order plus gave her something for free. ( I couldnt see what it was, just that the woman said, "here is something for free for your next visit, I apologize again for making the order wrong.") I thought that was very nice, and a great gesture to show that the employees care. Another note I would like to make, it I thought it was a bit odd while we were eating that about 8 of the 11 people working there all of a sudden ran out of the restaurant with whom I assume to be the owner? Overall, the employees are nice, courteous, and the restaurant is clean. However, in my honest opinion you certainly dont get the quality for the price they charge there, two sandwiches, and a fries were nearly 20$!!!!!! I would understand if the burgers and fries were amazing, but they were just average, nothing to write home about. I could go to the 5-8 club or Matts or the Nook for 5-10$ more and have an exceptional cheeseburger. It is a place that I would try for something a little bit different, but not somewhere I could, or would eat on weekly basis because the quality and overall taste of the food are just average. I hope you all enjoyed my review, and have a great day everyone! :)

From the beginning, I was disappointed with this location. I am a prior Smashburger customer but new to this location. Once I walked inside the restaurant, the smell of body odor coming from the staff was horrible. I then tried to order. I had been the second in line with no one else in line. The employee stopped me so he could finish a personal phone call on the store phone. He was speaking about his "high five" to the person on the other end. I almost walked out due to the smell and having to wait several minutes for him to finish his conversation. Finally I ordered. He was polite. I then went to fill my beverage. There was FRUIT FLIES all over the lemons and pop machine. It obviously had not been cleaned for a long time as the syrup was all stuck all over the levers and FRUIT FLIES were coming from the spouts. The burger and fries was as I expected but I will never return for the above reasons. I filled out the online survey but what good is a code to use when you are not going to return.

Ive been to this location once before and it was pleasant enough. Food was good. But just today I asked a couple coworkers to pick up a milkshake for me. When they came back I took a sip and it was just liquid. I said I didnt want to pay $4 for chocolate milk, so I drove back to ask for a new one. When confronted, the worker was really snippy and asked if it mightve melted during the car ride. I said no, because the drive was less than 5 minutes. She said, " well I remember making it and I made it like a shake, but Ill make it again." And once she finished she said, "take the other one or throw it away I dont care." She was incredibly rude when I tried to be respectful. Hopefully the owner sees this so he can track her down. Her hair was blond and mostly shaved, with a portion the was as long as pixie cut bangs and a terrible attitude. Shouldnt be too hard to find.

Almost turned around to go back for more when we left. Our first experience with Smashburger, anywhere and boy, it sure did NOT disappoint. EXCELLENT customer service (Michelle). Friendly, helpful staff aim to please. Now, about the burgers. Honestly, I have never had such a delectably tasty, juicy, perfectly seasoned, fresh, homemade tasting burger in my life and Ive had many. I had the spicy cowboy burger. Thick bacon, onion straws, melty cheese, and FRESH grilled jalapeños... YUM.. not those nasty pickled ones like some restaurants serve. Lots of delicious choices for sides like the sweet potato fries I had, and fancy shakes. We cant wait to go back. There NO longer is any competition for great burgers in Apple Valley. Smashburger has literally SMASHED their competition.

I really like the burgers here, the "Twin Cities" and the Classic Smash are my favorites. Ive never really had bad service, but I usually dont come in during "busy" hours. The "Smash Fries" are genuinely different from other places - herbs and (I think) a mild olive oil. I do wish they would do a better job of cleaning the store. Id like to see tables wiped down better/more frequently and the soda fountain area should be kept cleaner and better organized. Prices are also a bit high for what you get, but not way out of line. Still, a pretty good place for a burger. 4 stars from me.

It was the worst burger I have ever eaten me and my family order smash burger I order the all American smash it was really and cold and tasted really bad and then I tried the fries and they were ice cold and were hard and tasted like cardboard and then we got a chicken sandwich and the chicken was cold it was bad and then we got 2 more of the all American smash burger and they were cold and bad to so dont eat at this location dont waste your money but I went on a busy time so maybe they were in a hurry and made it bad it might not be like that again!
