Always been a Meijer person. Worked a store before, during, and after a grand opening and the first of a more than a couple stores into this county. Never had any real complaints about the chain, until now. That complaint being the removing of all the unlimited self-checkouts. At first I thought it was only one of three locations I frequent but Ive since learned it is all Meijers removing them. I cant say I am surprised, Ive been behind people in line who were going far too slow to not be doing something crooked. Also, its real simply done - they just switch UPC codes and a bag of cherries suddenly costs what a bag of grapes does. If its solely because of theft, I understand and I guess you cant really fault them despite everyone else feeling like something is being taken away because of nothing they did but if its something more sinister(which is always possible) then thats what people like me are on look out for. Its also telling that Meijer is not the only chain yanking those unlimited self check-out. Home delivery can take a flying friggin leap though, twice if thats why grocers are removing the self checkouts. No. I changed my mind. Its not understandable... you all(grocers and customers alike) really have pissed me off with this stupid over analyzed, quantified b.s. entrapment attempt on everyone. Is that enough for saying why I really think it is being done? Or is it just to divide peoples minds?? Well, this mind is not going to be divided by it and I do not blindly get taken in by entrapment attempts. And I am going to tell everyone right here how to handle it so their mind doesnt get divided or how to not get entrapped, that is unless they deserve to be caught. This is it... someone has drawn a battle line... the grocers have made a move that will divide the mind of everyone who must now choose - unlimited items through the cashier or 12 items at the self checkout. Everyones mind will be divided, the country will divided and weaker... all by simply removing unlimited self-checkouts. No joke, thats what it is going to cause in every single person who used those and thats what its going to do to the entire country. And this is no longer relegated to just Meijer, but all grocers and all to whom it applies... I know Im right, do you? Shoot the farmers if this doesnt please them, and burn the damn farms... and yes, I am white and blonde haired and blue eyed and a former serviceman. So, you can shove any doubts about who it really is up your arrogant a--. YOU are the one who can burn, and Ill light the torch. I made it clear earlier that I understand the reasons for such a move if solely to guard against theft and for loss control, and everything said after that can be disregarded if so. However, I have also made it clear on my reasons if it was not done solely to guard against theft and if there has been collusion by grocers on a national level as part of some self-serving, ignorant joke and/or agenda. As little as I care about some of the potential targets for such an act, if done as a colluded form of such... well, it effects me in a bad way and attacking food lines means war. I am done adding to this here and going to add it to my public blog. Not because I car and think myself an intelligent voice... because IF IT DOES MEAN WAR, I need to be sure people hear it elsewhere as well. Lastly, I need to be clear that I know some twit is screaming to some law enforcement official and calling this a terrorist threat. I HAVE NO ILL INTENTIONS OR MALICIOUS ACTS PLANNED. Its not my style to plan criminal acts, but this is going to strike a real bad nerve in me for a very long time and when nerves are struck things happen. But... if so much money was lost to theft, whered the money for the remodeling come from???

This Meijer had a really nice layout before they decided to rip everything up and start fresh. I suspect that the only reason why they rushed a redesign of this store is due to the fact that a larger and improved Kroger will soon be moving in across the street where an old Super Kmart used to be located. In any case, the new redesign of this store is less impressive so far. Although the Deli and Bakery areas look really nice, the grocery aisles now overlap into a heavy foot traffic area of the store (parallel to the main entrance) requiring you to actually go around them. Moreover, the new aisle signs are WAY too small as well. Lastly, it appears that Im not the only one disappointed with this redesign (or at least the minor inconvenience with the construction) as I have noticed a tremendous decrease in customers here ever since they started working on the construction. Perhaps business will pick up after theyre finished. Nevertheless, I have been coming to this Meijer for quite some time now and the prices are generally pretty reasonable. I just hope that theyll see some of these reviews and change some things back to how they were originally, (especially with the abysmal new layout of the aisles) although something tells me that they probably wont.

Change is not necessarily a good thing. I have shopped this store since it opened and this last visit has finally helped me decide to shop elsewhere. Unacceptable is the 17 minutes it took to get through the deli with two packages of lunch meat when there were four employees behind the counter working (only one employee waited on the customers). The other employees didnt care about the aggravated customers. Regina D., while eyeing the waiting customers, continued to slice cheese and without hesitation shoved a piece of that cheese in her mouth !!! All self scan check outs were closed and will remain so due "to theft". So...trying to make a purchase continues to be difficult because now you will wait in one of the hard to find open lanes which actually mans a cashier. The 1 hr 20 minutes to finally get out of the store shouldnt have taken more than 45 minutes at the most . !! I know Im not the only one looking forward to KROGERS OPENING ACROSS THE STREET IN THE FALL !!
