We were shown to our table to only recieve one menu between four people, and it was only the drinks. After we were given the menues and ordered our food bread rolls were placed on the table but there was no silverware. When we asked about getting silverware our server gave us a very blank stare and a smirk. When the food finally arrived and was placed at the table the server proceeded to ask us how everything was only to recieve a similar blank stare from us. However upon partaking it was actually quite good. We asked for our checks which felt like a long time for us to get, so i decided to look around for a clock. There was none to be found to my disdain. Five televisions, but no clock. Upon paying the bill and preparing to leave I turned to the waitress to say "take it easy" and she became very insulted. The entire experience was not terrible but with a staff of people who wont listen to you and get slighted at common niceties i would suggest to find another restaurant or bar to enjoy. There were no clocks to tell the time, and our interactions with the people who were there left much to be desired.

Ill say this the service which everyone seems to have an issue with isnt that bad. That being said its not that great all the time, weekdays i enjoy a good dinner at Oak City because its easy to carry on a conversation and the service is very awesome. However, on the weekend, the service leaves a ton to be desired. This was during the summer, we had a group of 10 that showed up around 6:30 it wasnt crazy busy yet but busy ill give you. We cant get you a table for 3 hours...really guys? 3 hours? when i asked well theres several tables over there, the response i received was a party booked those tables in an hour so they are not open. Now ive never work at anywhere that even remotely does anything with seating or food but that made no sense to me. The saving grace of that night was the bar tender, who was very awesome and made sure he was extremely attentive to are group to the point where we stopped caring; 2 hours later we did get seated but it was a hassle when it didnt need to be. AGAIN NORMALLY the whole staff really awesome great Guys & Gals but might need some training when its busy.

Recently went here to celebrate a birthday. Oak City Grill has fallen off a cliff in terms of service and professionalism. In all of my years of dining out and travel, I have never once asked to talk to a manager at any restaurant (regardless of caliber) and have my request completely ignored. Their manager literally refused to talk to me when I wanted to complain about the crappy service and attitude of wait staff. Prior to sitting down, I had a tab open at the bar. When I went to close it, I asked the female bartender (she had blond hair) to close my tab. She literally responded, "I cant hear you" and walked away. Well, make an effort to hear me then. Extremely rude. However, it did make adding her tip of $0 really easy to calculate. The reality is, when you are dining out, you are paying for service. If you arent getting the service, go elsewhere. There is no need to go to Oak City Grill anymore. It seems to be a top down problem when it comes to attitude and service. Walk a few feet in any other direction, and go some place where they want your business.

Oak city continues to be a disappointment in their staffing. Last night topped the charts. After leaving the bar, my husband and I went back as I forgot my coat for the long ride home on our bike. The staff was no help and actually "hid" it when I came back 5 min later. They were having an after hours party with the staff and friends at 2;20am....after WE found my coat, and mentioned that it was pretty rude, the whole staff ganged up on my husband, threatening to call the police(!). The staff really needs to be revamped here. Everyone is rude. This isnt the first time weve been unhappy with staff. Great food, but for now on, I will not be giving my money to such a poorly staffed restaurant. I will tell my friends and family and anyone else who will listen about our experience as well. Their are many other restaurants and bars with a great staff in royal oak to choose from.

Usually a decent restaurant.......food, atmosphere. Unfortunately we had the bartender waiting on us today. She was more interested in her soda and the fact that her phone got wet than taking care of our table. It was to the point we called her out on it (2 other tables arriving after us were served prior to our receiving appetizer or bread and we never were revisited for refill of our diet soda). After finally receiving the appetizer, we told them that we were frustrated with the wait and would like to cancel the order. The bartender was coming out with the food (go figure) and tried to start a verbal sparring match about her attentiveness. Honestly, given the glares wed received, we were apprehensive about eating anything shed been around. Hope this issue is resolved for what is typically a solid restaurant.

we recently had a large wedding shower at oak city grille on a sunday afternoon. they closed the entire place for us, gave us a menu of five choices including lobster ravioli w/shrimp and sirloin, and even offering choices for the kids menus. they started with wonderful caesar salads, on time, and were bringing out the dinners soon after the salads were finished. we were treated like royalty, excellent and plentiful staff, Christian was in charge and was wonderful, having everything under control, and the guests raved about the food, atmosphere and staff. you will not be disappointed here...

Just had a memorial service at the restaurant yesterday. Great service and good food were what our guests received from the restaurants caring staff. They plated my homemade desserts, arranged our picture display and treated our guests to wonderful service. While planning our event, the manager and owner recommended some menu items. They printed up a menu with the selections for all guests. I would highly recommend them. One more thing, during happy hour they have a few menu items that are very reasonably priced if you are an early diner.

We took a chance despite these ratings and had a good time. Food was good, nothing out of this world. It was a warm day, but they had all the doors at the front of the restaurant open to the street which was nice despite a few nats. Toward 9 they had a live singer in there that was good. Service to us was good, only had to flag him down once. The menu is a little short I discovered, basically it consists of salad, steak, chicken, and a few saltwater seafood choices.

I asked the waiter what he would recommend out of 3 items on the menu. He told me what he thought of the 3 items I chose and then told me get the Lemon Chicken, which was not one of my three original choices. I now ask the waiter/waitress their recommendation at every restaurant I try. That Lemon Chicken ranks in the top 5 best meals my taste buds have ever indulged in. Addicted to that dish. The live music is also really fun and creates a fun atmosphere.
