I live in Cincinnati, OH, but whenever I visit family in Michigan I make sure to take a trip to El Patron. I enjoy it so much that my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary during the week, but we were going to Michigan on the weekend, so we decided to wait to have our anniversary dinner there. It is some of the best Mexican food that I have ever had and I crave it when Im at home because its hard to come by where I live. My favorites are the "gorditas de chicharrón" and the "carne asada gorditas". I also get their nachos every single time I go. They are oozing with nacho cheese and drizzled with sour cream and a sprinkling of parm, then topped with "carne asada". My husband is a creature of habit and always has the super burrito, I cant finish a super burrito, but I have had a regular burrito and I know why my husband loves it so much. Ive also had their "fajitas" which were amazing and there was enough for me to share with my husband with leftovers to take home. The tamales are also very good. The last time I was there my sister-in-law ordered the "tostadas de ceviche" and she gave me a bite and they were delish. The employees there are super friendly and the place is always very clean, even the bathrooms are kept really clean. So if you are ever in the Metro Detroit area, I know Pontiac is a bit of a drive from Detroit, you have to visit El Patron, trust me it will be worth the drive.

Went here for the first time today. My initial impression was that it must be a good restaurant because the parking lot was full. Granted, the parking lot isnt very big so I had to park on the street. It was also 12:30 which is a little late for me to be out for lunch. The restaurant isnt very fancy as you can see feom the mm picture others have put up. I dont know if the restaurant doesnt have air conditioning or if it was qas broken but it was very hot inside. I was glad I was getting carryout. There was a bit od a wait to order and to pick up my food but it was busy. While I waited I helped myself to the salsa bar that has a good variety of different sauces and heat. I got the shredded chicken chimichanga which was quite good. The sauces were not as hot as I expected but the food was quite good. The only drawback to this place I can see now is that it would be a little uncomfortable with the heat to stay there and have your meal. I saw many patrons wiping their brows as they sat and ate. All in all though I have to say the meal was quite good and a nice alternative to going to a chain restaurant. I llan to head there again and bring my co-workers with me next time.

This place is awesome, 10 times better than Carnival Market but I think that people have not found this out yet. This location seems to be fairly new, the restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. Their menu is very traditional, the food is always made fresh to order so expect to wait some time after ordering. It is packed during the week days at noon so maybe visiting for dinner is better. The Super quesadilla is the best, tons of cheese and your choise of meat. The patron fries are really good as well for something not so traditional but they are delicious. They have a salsa bar that has all sorts of awesome sauces and pickled onions and carrots. This is worth venturing into.

I absolutely love this place :) I always get the taco salad no tomato and today I went in and got behind a huge rush that consisted of a bunch of GM employees and the owner looked up saw me and smiled, I honestly didnt think he recognized me then he yells order for Kayla and I pass about 8 people in line to pick my order up!!! The owner took time to call my name instead of.let.me stand in line any longer and again (like every time) he was friendly and smiled and made me feel very welcome as a customer :) I recommended anyone eat there :) variety of food and clean place and ALWAYS FRIENDLY STAFF (PLUS THE OWNER IS SO HANDSOME)

I am a frequent customer. I have been to countless Mexican restuarants and this restuarant is one of the best. The place is clean, there is a good variety of dishes and meat. There is a neat salsa bar with mild and hot salsas. There is a good selection of beverages, the Jarritos are the best. The prices are pretty reasonable. The staff is pretty friendly. I highly recommend trying this place out if you have not already.

Amazing authentic Mexican food, the menu covers different dishes identifying different regions of Mexico. My family is very exigent and authenticity is a big factor when choosing a restaurant. El Patrons staff is very friendly, polite and bilingual. The facility is very clean, parking is easy and the ordering system is very convenience; Order, sit down, they bring your food to the table and enjoy a great meal.

Remains my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Its really hard not to get a torta with Patron fries and a horchata every time I walk through the door. Their salsas are very good. Service is always great and employees are always friendly. Having tried half the menu at least, I cannot say I have been disappointed even the slightest by any meal or meat. Their prices are great, too!

My wife and I moved here from Southern California a few years ago and havent been able to find a Mexican restaurant with truly authentic food...until today. The food was excellent, the prices are reasonable and the staff/owner is friendly and very helpful. If I could give the restaurant more than 5 stars I would. We will be back many times in the future!

Do you like authentic Mexican food? This is the closest thing in the area! Cant go wrong with Tacos... lengua, cabeza, carnitas, chicharrón are the best in my opinion. Jamaica or Horchata water completes your meal. Dont expect the traditional restaurant attention, the concept is close to fast food, which makes service super agile for lunch time.
