The food was very bland no flavor at all, the glasses were murky. I ordered a Filet Minon Steak which was not properly cut or trimmed of fat. And the cooks in the back couldnt get the temp right, I asked 4 times for my steak to be cooked a little longer before it was a perfect medium...so i forgave them for this simple mistake...then i decided to use the restroom which was hard to find i ended up in the kitchen and it was filthy the cooks did not even have gloves hairnets or proper chef attair which leads me to believe that their staff has no training nor direction and the cooks actions proved this thoery...i asked one cook who surprisingly told me his name was Abdulla and i ask if the cooks wore gloves or even clean the work area and the cook pulled out a cigerette and smoked it in the kitchen then pulled me to the side and told me everything is expired and i should never eat there. There also was food everywhere on the floors, cutting boards, dirty towls everywhere. I have never seen a kitchen so disgusting..and to make my experience even worst was on my exit from the dirt mound of a kitchen i seen the servers and bussers re-using the bread from other tables. They didnt discard the bread from the other tables they put it right back with the fresh bread. I will never eat in the Parthenon again. Its a great place to eat if you dont like food or you just dont like to eat...i will never walk into this place again 1 out of 5 stars

This is the worst restaurant I have been too in years, from the food, the service, the price for what you get. 4 of us went their for new years eve 2015, and we ordered the lamb chops, prime rib and salads. The salad was drowning in dressing, so the lettuce was soggy, very sloppy presentation. The prime rib didnt have a lick of seasoning on it , and tasted like you were just eating meat. I wouldnt even serve that at my own house, it was that bad. The lamb chops were all cooked one way according to the waiter, which was medium, so right there i knew the food was going to be crap. Lamb chops need to be medium rare, the ones they had were more like med well, dry and no flavor. I asked for some more cooked my way, and they were actually decent. The waiter tried to tell me I didnt need a knife to cut the meat, and at the end he tried to buy the table shots for their horrible experience. We said we wanted grey goose, and they said ok, the crap they brought out was house vodka, and was terrible. Close this pile of crap down.

Ill never forget the first time I set foot in this place. A group of us had just left another restaurant near Eastern Market without dining, because the service had been absolutely terrible. We pop into New Parthenon hungry, irritated and exhausted. Our waiter, Sonny, quickly appeared with a bright smile on his face ready and thrilled to take our orders. He cheered everyone up almost immediately. This guy is awesome, full of energy, and after having him just twice as our waiter, he started remembering everyones name in our party. I see and hear a lot of comparisons between New Parthenon and Pegasus food, as if Pegasus is a considerable step-up. I dont share that sentiment, and find most of my preferred dishes here to be just as good. I love avgolemono soup and prefer New Parthenons to its neighbor across the street. Some of the my favorite entrees that I recommend: Chicken Lemonato (be aware, the chicken style is a bit dry), Octopus in Wine Sauce, and Lamb with Rice Pilaf

Dont go, waste your time or $. Not the best greek food or service. Beautiful wall murals, but in a filthy restaurant. When server finally came to our table after we were done eating, we asked for our bill asap, my salad I never got, and a box for our food. She brought the bill 10 min later, charged me for the salad & still didnt bring it or the box. I asked her to bring a manager, discount our bill, & remove the salad as we had a Tigers game to catch at this point. 15 minutes later we got our bill with a $3.75 beer removed, manager met us on our way out & offered for us to take our 2 small children on his sweaty bus shuttle to the game. Really? When we expressed how unhappy our experience was, he assured us next time it would be better. Thanks for the free beer, that really calmed the waters- there wont be a next time, EVER!! By the way, the people mover is way more fun for kids than a bus with drunk people on it & it has air too!

I decided to take my mom to New Parthenon for Mothers Day. I usually go to Pegasus Restaurant in Greektown but we didnt want to wait for a table. Wow I was embarrassed that I took her there even before we sat down. The chairs were so dirty with a layer of greasy grime on the seat and a thick layer of crumbs and food in the on the back and edges. I had to use my napkin to wipe it off and they all were like that, not just mine. The table after just being wiped down still had a slimy sticky layer from which our table never even dried through out our meal! Sitting at a table like that was so unappetizing. The ceiling had visible dirt/dust/mold. The food is just ok and the service is not very good. But I couldnt get over how dirty it was. If that is the dining room which you see, imagine the kitchen! Id wait any time for a table at Pegasus next time for delicious food, good service and clean dining room.

The sign and presentation of the wait staff at the New Parthenon are deceptive upon walking into the restaurant. You glance at the menu in the window and expect a good time with great food. Both times Ive been to this place I was highly dissatisfied with the quality and presentation of the food and the prices expected for their poor performance. The waiter took forever to ask how we were doing. The hummous was terrible and they had the nerve to serve a burnt spinach pie....on a plate that was priced @ $12.50. If I wouldnt have said anything, Im sure they would have expected me to eat it. I always like to give people a chance, especially because I know everyone has their bad days, however, the second time around is leaving no room for a third charmer. Fact of the matter is, there isnt any. Charm that is. Hope this helps. Especially thinking I wouldve had a better meal at Plakas.

I went to this restaurant, and was looking for a restaurant had vegetarian options. They do have vegetarian options, however the food is horrible. First, one of the people in my group was served cold lamb. The kitchen did correct the problem however the lamb came back covered in a horrible tomato sauce. Most of the food was covered in this sweet, gross tomato sauce. I had the vegetarian plate. If I wrote "nothing to write home about", that would be nice. The "fresh, steamed" veggies were canned vegetables. The spinach pie was under seasoned. My husbands spinach pie was soggy and over seasoned. After the bad food, we had trouble getting the bill split. Had the waiter taken some time and not rushed through the order - he would have heard that we wanted the bill split.
