We bought a groupon worth $40 for dinner for 2 or more. We went on a Sunday night at 7, and it was totally dead. The owners were having a birthday party and their kids were running and screaming in circles around the restaurant (since there were only 2-4 other tables, I guess this is fine. And it probably doesnt happen every night, right?). We moved to the bar for a little more privacy. We were surprised looking at the menu because it says all over the signs that it is "fine" Asian food, however on the menu it was all standard Chinese food. Our waiter seemed like he didnt know what was in any of the dishes. We asked about 3 different things (they werent described on the menu as to what was in it) and he was like uhhh.... and basically guessed what was in it. When our food came out, it was all pretty greasy. I know that type of food usually is, but it was insanely greasy, like they forgot to let it drain out at all. We ordered two apps (scallion pancakes and the small platter (chicken wings/fingers and rangoons), and general gaos and I ordered lo mein. The portions were huge, almost in an unappetizing way, and were basically what you would expect from a chinese food place on your street you get take out from. The worst part was at the end after ordering two apps and two entrees (with a side of rice!) we were $3 short of hitting $40 for the groupon price. There was NO dessert, NO tea or coffee (at an Asian restaurant, no tea??!!!), and he wouldnt let us split a beer towards the $3 and said we could order more food (puke) or a soda (we dont drink soda). So we took the $3 loss (that also couldnt be applied towards the tip) and needless to say, we will not be back.

Disclosure: I do not know anyone who owns or works at Shangri La and I was not paid or compensated for this review. The fact that this restaurant has anything less than 5 stars blows my mind. I order from them weekly if not biweekly and they always deliver fresh, hot, and flavorful food. I get their general gaos chicken (aka general tsaos chicken) and their hot and sour soup. If they sold their soup in gallon form Id honestly buy it. Its hands down the best hot and sour Ive ever had. Its consistently great and not fake/goopy like at other places. Their general gaos chicken is incredible, super fresh, not goopy, and YOU CAN PICK YOUR SPICE LEVEL. MIND BLOWN! I always want mine super spicy but my boyfriend would rather have his as mild so its PERFECT for us to be able to order the same thing but pick our level of spice. Also, their crab Rangoon is super fresh and smooth and tasty. Everyone that has tried their food that weve had over has enjoyed it. We typically order from them through Foodler and they deliver at an average or faster than average pace. Its a bit more expensive that way, but its so good its worth it. I could eat it every day. 10/10 would recommend and will continue to eat from there for the foreseeable future barring any change in quality.

Ive been here several times now - the food is pretty good. The staff might vary, however. On more than one occasion, Ive gone to check out and the middle-aged gentleman behind the counter has been less than friendly. Unfortunately, on my most recent visit, he was not only unfriendly, but accusatory. I paid online - I have done this before without incident (with a different, female cashier). This time, the man asked me for my card, and when I informed him that I had paid online, he grew irritable and repeatedly told me I still needed to swipe my card. I hadnt even brought my wallet with me, as the entire premise for paying online was to avoid carrying my wallet. I politely mentioned this, and added that seeing as I had already paid, my card should not need to be swiped as that would lead to me being charged twice. Apparently frustrated, he turned to his computer and miraculously pulled up a receipt for me to sign. Maybe he was having a bad day, but the very aggravated, put-out attitude I received over what seemed to be some kind of miscommunication on behalf of the restaurant made me question whether or not I will be a returning customer.

We were in town for a homeschooling conference when I suggested to go out for chinese food. We looked through Google and found Shangri-La. I looked at their menu and was curious. From the outside, the place did not look to be too desirable being in a run down looking part of the neighborhood. But from inside, WOW! what a site to behold! The server was great and answered our questions very well. We ordered General Tsos chicken, Beef & Broccoli, and a side of Shrimp Fried Rice. We started with some amazing Wanton Soup and some Crab Rangoon. Everything was perfectly cooked and 1000 times better than any Chinese Buffet quality or corner store take-out place you could EVER go to. The portions were HUGE and the quality was also top notch. I will never go back to take-out or buffets again! When we come back next year for the homeschooling conference, we will return!

Food is very hit or miss, waitstaff is rude and inattentive. Once went for lunch, took almost an hour just to bring our drinks (which were only fountain sodas and ot anything complicated)to the table in spite of my boyfriend and i being one of only 3 occupied tables in the entire place. Another time we ordered online because they offer this service, went to pick up our food and found out they never check it, had to wait a very long time for our food to actually be ready with no apologies. Only go because it is close to work and great wall has currently been shut down. Have basically stopped going since the last incident.

Would not reccomend this place. Bought a Groupon for this restaurant and thought itd be nice to try something new... what a mistake! First, I ordered a water and upon taking the first sip, I noticed something long and plastic in my mouth, which was disgusting and ruined my appetite. Also, it is way over priced. I ordered a special sushi roll which was $14 and it only came with six pieces.. a rip off. Save yourself the money and go to Kyoto, or Sake Bomb where you actually get decent food.

The food is excellent but the service is worse than anywhere else in worcester. I asked for an extra sauce, totally willing to pay for it, and the hostess said ok. She went and got the manager who told me I was all set. He told me i was all set three times and that he put enough in the bag. I just wanted to buy an extra sauce.. To repeat the food is VERY good but do not dine in. Service is awful, staff is unprofessional and rude. Its amazing they even have customers.
