So, I got a prix fixe and so did the person sitting with me. Pretty straightforward. They served us the wrong plate each and every time and stood there watching us swap plates and then gave us the wrong wines and watched us swap those too. Said nothing and did nothing to help. This happened with the appetizer, entree and dessert, each had its own wine pairing and we got the wrong plates, swapped them in front of the staffs noses, and then got the wrong paired wines from the same people who had not moved from watching us. Considering they still do white wine with fish and red with meat - quite passe by now - and one of use had red meat the other fish, you would think that after watching us swap our plates they could get the wine right. Anyway, the food was OK but I have had better for a lot less. There was nothing French about it. The prix fixe choices were meat loaf (yes, meat loaf) with mashed potatoes and carrots even, and salt cod cakes. French??? There were hardly any veggies at all - my cod came with about one sliced stalk of asparagus and maybe half a mushroom. The waitress raved about this chocolate thing for dessert for $4 more than the prix fixe and it was not that great and certainly was not French! The place is very bright inside and the tables are ugly. I like seeing my food and it is presented nicely but a candle would be nice too.

Quite honestly, this could be the best French restaurant we have been to in the Boston area. The soups are transcending...everything is expertly prepared and presented. The scallop dishes are always amazing with such beautifully balanced flavor. Chef Michael Leviton prepares every dish imaginatively and flawlessly with perfect seasoning throughout. Although there are usually three to six choices on the menu for each course one might think that not to be enough. My problem is there are too many choices as each offering is one I want to have. The service is superb without being in your face. Every staff member is extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Wine list is has something for everyone. The dining room is very pleasant, understated and you can hear the person you are dining with. Basically, its pretty close to perfect

This place came highly recommended and we decided to give it a try. We got there rather early at around 5:30 pm and we had the whole place to ourselves. The decor is breathtaking. Minimalistic but yet very elegant. The wait staff is incredibly attentive and always eager to help and make suggestions. The food however, is a different story. And given the good things I have heard about this place, I am willing to place the blame on my palette. That being said the food wasnt anyway close to what we expected it to be. Salad wasnt flavourful. We tried chicken and beef and both of the dishes werent exactly bursting with flavour. Chicken was downright bland and beef was cooked with a rather overpowering sauce. We were really looking forward to this place but we probably wont go back there.

I love this restaurant!! My wife and I can not rave enough about everything and everyone weve encountered here. We came back for an anniversary dinner and mentioned it to the hostess who greeted us. She smiled and perked upwhich got my wife Super giddy. She and my wife chatted fort a little bit and after seating us and getting our water and bread we were treated to some champagne from the chef. The starters, meal and desserts for the night were phenomenal. Every part of the night was superb. I made the reservations but the people and the food at Lumiere made the night for my wife and I. Will be coming back every year for sure.

Probably the best rating I can give for a restaurant week experience. I came here for restaurant week and it was great. They were so accommodating to my vegetarian dining companion, the service was spot on. It was surprising to find such a elegant dining experience in this space. The whole staff is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, superb customer service. The food was well made and I loved my chocolate dessert. It is pretty pricey so not sure I will be back quickly but I would definitely do restaurant week or their weeknight prefixe again.

Perfect in so many ways. From amazing corn soup to rainbow trout to chocolate torte, Jordan Bailey has taken control of this great restaurant and continued its promise of great food. Its not farm to fork, thats saying its trendy and aligned, Lumieres best quality is its editing of itself. Fewer elements, all perfectly prepared to enhance one another make a balanced and delicious plate. Thats significantly harder to do than the overwrought foams and emulsions Boston chefs are putting on plates. Go, see for yourself.

Some of the best food my wife and I have ever tasted, anywhere. And we eat out a lot. Chef Michael Leviton is a genious at layering flavors, so you taste rich flavors of meat, vegetables, infused oils, herbs and spices, in a flavor symphony so harmonious its incredibly delicious. On Sunday-Thursday the Prix Fixe menu provides a more affordable way to taste these amazing flavors. You can pay a lot more at fancy downtown restaurants, but you wont get better food!

Everything was perfect until there were 2 tables left. It was an elegant, quite atmosphere. The food was delicious and our waitress was extremely polite and helpful. I would have stayed and enjoy one more glass of wine if the rest of the waitresses did not turn the place into a playground. They were loud and careless about their surroundings. The place was quieter when there were 10 tables with customers.

Five stars across the board! The ambiance is lovely and quiet. The drinks are generous, the staff is very professional, knowledgable and attentive, and the food is amazing! The large portioned beef tartar was so tasty, the lobster special, haddock and pork chop entrees all incredibly delicious and the pear crisp dessert a perfect ending. We look forward to returning.

Lumiere is simply fantastic. From the food, to the service, to the atmosphere. It absolutely cannot be beat in the metro Boston area, and Id even venture to say its in the top 5 restaurants in and around Boston. Treat yourself to Lumiere, you wont be disappointed!

Spectacular dining experience. We did the prix fixe offering, paired with wine, and were blown away. Course after course of thoughtfully prepared cuisine. The staff knows the wine as well as the food and were professional throughout.

One of the best French restaurants around, I love each of my visits here - rare though they are as this place is fairly expensive. Great for birthdays, very romantic dates, business meetings or any other very important occasion.

Tasty food, good service, good wine menu, decent beer menu. The prices were very reasonable. Its a great option, especially if you dont want to go all the way into Boston. I would definitely go back.

Very nice and classy place. I like to take my girlfriend here on special occasions. I usually get the bass because I am a vegetarian. Also their sides, esp the fries, are delicious.

Chefs tasting menu was fantastic, however the kitchen got hit with a huge rush when we ordered so we waited a bit for our first course. Everything was worth the wait however!
