Where do I start. My friends and I went to eat there for my buddys birthday because he thought it seemed like a nice new addition to the Northampton food scene. He was very wrong. Long story short : we spent 2 hours waiting around, we got overcharged for our meal, our waiter basically stole from us and we all got sick from eating the food. We got there around 7 and had to wait for a good 45 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, we ended up waiting for an hour for a waiter to get to our table and take our order, and and waiting another hour to receive our food (thank God for BYOB). The food was decent, but when the time came for us to pay our bill, we specifically told the waiter that some of us would be paying in cash and to split the difference between those of us paying with credit cards. Before the receipt came back it was already closing time and we had to start heading out and get our receipts at the front. After we got home and decided to check how much we spent, we realized that we had been overcharged, and that the waiter had pocketed all the cash. When we called them the next day to see if it was a mistake, they just told us they would reimburse us but still havent even to this day. That same day, we also came down with some kind of stomach flu that lasted a couple of days where we would all immediately have to to the bathroom after eating anything and well... Id rather not talk about what happens next... just save yourself the trouble and go to India house or India palace. Youll get better food for a better price, with better service, and no risk to your health.

I have been to Bombay Royale twice in the past month. I had mixed experiences. While I would rate the food as 3.5/5 and most of the staff is polite, I did find this one man (he surely was the manager or the head of the staff) somewhat less friendly with customers. He was not rude per se but a smile on the face and being courteous will help. He definitely is less approachable but he is the go to guy with your questions since the servers were unable to answer the questions I had. This made it difficult for us. I would prefer to go to a restaurant where not only the food is good but I can enjoy the experience and feel comfortable. Empathy and feeling welcomed is important.

I agree with the review written by Martin. The food is great but it seems that the guy who stood at payment counter doesnt like being asked questions and was not being polite. I asked some questions because I am allergic to certain ingredients. Every restaurant that I have been too has always welcomed questions on food allergies except for Bombay Royale. Please have the patience to explain the ingredients and be empathetic to customers who have allergies. We are not wasting your time by asking questions. We are ensuring that you dont fall in trouble due to any allergic reactions that might happen if we eat the food that we are not supposed to eat.

Fancy restaurant, food looked pretty stylized for sure. Taste wise I wasnt that impressed. Mainly because everything I ordered had Cardamom (elaichi). Bhelpuri had full cardamom pods in it, suddenly you get a pod while chewing rice puffs (kurmura). The rice puffs which are supposed to be crispy was the opposite of crispy, but the server was kind enough to remake it and not charge me for it. The garlic naan was pretty good, seemed fresh so that I would recommend. Malai kofta again had pods of cardamom and raisin in the gravy and cardamom in the kofta curry. It felt more like a shahi curry than a kofta curry. Was not impressed :(

We had dinner for the first time at this new Indian restaurant in Northampton. I have a passion for Indian cuisine, so was delighted with the superbly prepared food! I ordered shrimp saag, hubby had goat vindaloo; plus the most devine samosas (served with a delish sweet sauce), poori, etc. The decor is quite elegant: slate blue with white accents. The servers were pleasant and professional when we had questions about what to order. A big plus: convenient parking right across the street! (ALICE SHANE, author, BAD DAD, a psychothriller)

Excellent Indian food. Came here for the celebration of a co-worker quitting, many more of us will quit and weve agreed to come back here to celebrate each time. Authentic Indian food, attentive staff who kept refilling our water and asking if we needed anything (not annoyingly), and the lunch buffet is a great way to sample many different dishes - very tasty food, and Ive heard from others whove eaten here more often that the buffet changes, so always lots to try. Highly recommended.

Everyone says its a great place , so I thought I would try it out. I got takeout - malai kofta, which I have had at other restaurants before and really enjoyed. What I got here was thin, bland, light yellow liquid with four small fried sponges. I had a few bites and I cannot eat this. Its possible that I simply got the "wrong thing on the menu", and I will say that the place looked clean and the waitstaff was nice, but I am very reluctant to come back.

We loved the food but we wont go there again. The manager of the restaurant is rude - I am referring to whoever was at the billing counter. The servers are nice guys. At first we thought he is not used to smiling. However, we realized that he indeed is rude. We would recommend the owner to please provide the manager with training on how to behave in the hospitality industry.

Wonderful buffet. Lots of options that are appealing to the the palate accustomed to American cuisine Im Polish/Irish and I cant get enough of this place. Very fresh vegetables. Service is great. Atmosphere is pleasant. They switch up some dishes too so each day can be a different experience. Do not fret, the chicken Tikka Masala is a staple.

Agree with other reviewers who say that the counter guy is very rude. Asked for medium spicy food take out and they give me super spicy food that we could not eat. On calling them, they hung my call and didnt call back. When I called again they said that I was wasting their time and didnt bother returning my call. How unprofessional can you get!!

Pros: The food was really good, & many vegan & vegetarian options are offered. The staff was friendly. Cons: Small portions for price in my opinion & the drink options are limited as there is not a full bar which is a bummer. Seating was really tight on a Saturday night and the food took awhile to come out because it was very busy.

Its a fairly priced Indian fine dining restaurant. The owner is nice and cordial person. The food is great and a lot healthier than the food you will find in other Indian restaurant. I have had a sneak peak at the kitchen and its clean as a whistle. I will be returning for a glass of Sula Shiraz and some spicy mysore masala dosa! :)

Finally, a place that does genuine variety in Indian cuisine in Northampton including dosa. Their South Indian curries are the best, the Biriyani is very good and the naan is as good as I have had anywhere in India. The people are friendly and we have only had good experiences. I am certainly going to keep coming back for more..
