New Delhi was, on a scale of 10, an 8! The Naan was very warm and tasty. The Tikki Masala Chicken was very tender and flavorful-lacking spice though. The Lamb Saag was very good- but could have been warmer. The Tandoor Chicken was dry and bland! The Basmati Rice was good. The vegge dishes didnt seem appetizing. The decor was clean and modern- oh and the restrooms were very clean. The staff was hospitable and cleared dirty dishes quickly. The lunch buffet cost $8.99 and was well worth it. However, even though its a buffet the desert is not. You get one choice of desert and only one serving- which very small. I had the pistachio ice cream- excellent! It had hints of caramel flavor with crushed pistachio on top!

Ive been going to New Delhi for the past 8 years. So much so that they know me by my name. Their buffet is damn near perfection. The ambient atmosphere is the perfect place for a date. During the day time Ive used New Delhi as a location for meetings. Ive had food made fresh for me to take home, eat in, buffet and scheduled and every time theyve surpassed my expectations. Ive definitely have throughout the past 8 years sent hundreds of people their way and as long as their service and great tasting food remains the same, Ill continue to do so.

Desis, beware: New Delhis food is not for us, especially not their buffet. Everything is bland and doesnt taste Indian in the least. If you are looking for something more authentic, well, Tandoor next door has a better-tasting buffet, and if youre willing to compromise on the buffet, Dana Mandi on Chestnut street is as authentic as it gets! New Delhi has by far the best ambience among the Indian restaurants in this area though, and also has very good service. Now, if only their food were a little better...

Nice location, and great environment to go to. I went here for a birthday treat and also tried Indian food for the first time,. I wasnt quite sure what I was going to be eating at a few other places we thought about going to at first, and most locations only offer a buffet for lunch hours. So --- my friends decided this would be better beings they offer a dinner buffet and explanation of the food you can choose from. Deserts were good too, liked the mango ice cream. :)

I have been going to this restaurant since they first opened. The quality of the cuisine has always been consistent. A la carte off the menu or on the buffet the food here is flavorfully fantastic. The prices here cannot be beat. Its a place I always bring my friends who in turn bring their friends. I have dined at several other Indian restaurants in the Philadelphia area however I constantly come back to New Delhi whenever I want quality Indian food.

When we lived in University City back in the 80s & 90s we would eat out 3 or 4 times a week and at least one of those meals would be at New Delhi. Now the kids are running the place, its been renovated by an excellent architect Thanks to their dedication to serving quality food the dishes are always fresh and wholesome. Also you cannot beat the prices. I would recommend this place for lunch or casual dinners, kid friendly and a little curbside seating.

Best value for the money with the buffet or even take out from the buffet. Take out is about $6/lbs. Considering its $12/pp (without tax) for dinner if you decide to dine in, $12 can get you about 2 container worth of food. The combo for me is the chicken tika with the nan. I can eat it almost endlessly. I missed the days where you got dessert with the buffet. I also miss my student discounts. Decor and ambiance is better than most buffet joint.

I am a big fan of this restaurant and spend big money as I tell my co-workers about it...this is the second time I have gotten stomach ache from eating left over food not freshly prepared food. I just had lunch after 2pm Friday Lamb Masala and I am vomiting ...I should have know looking at it was so pale compare to other times when its freshly made very rich and red/orange. I toss it all in the trash...$16 just like that. I am very disappointed.

While I love the food here...the service is HORRIBLE. The waiters act like they could care less about you as a customer; almost as though they are doing YOU a favor. If you like to be treated well...dont eat in. I hesitate about giving them my money...but the shrimp masala is pretty good. So now I just take out... PLEASE PLEASE someone open up a better Indian restaurant in the area. I would love to take my money elsewhere

The food is ok here, nothing special. Decided to give the dinner buffet a try. The value is great as it is only $11.95 but i wasnt impressed by the food. The chicken tikka masala was very disappointing, it was no creamy and was bland. The chicken tandoori was just ok too. Only reason i give it 3 stars is because it is a good value but i have definitely had much better indian food elsewhere.

A cheap buffet for dinner. I think that Tikka masala chicken is SO over priced everywhere else that I know you will come out of here with the belly full. Food wise, its a hit or miss. I have gone there when the food was so good. Chicken was not HARD and the flavor was melding well in terms of all the spices. But I also went there when all pieces of chicken were hard and simply nasty.

Great buffet price; about 13 dollars. Some of the dishes are good, especially meat dishes. Some are a complete miss, such as mutter paneer. None sadly compare to the namesake food Ive had in the actual New Delhi though. On the plus side you get a lottt of food per buck. And the lads working there were nice enough to acknowledge a brown brother haha!

Great food and good value. Probably one one of the better values for an Indian buffetin the city. However the service is lacking. The waiters let dirty dishes pile up on your table and rush you in and out. Its also very poorly insulated so its very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. Though the food is very good.

The food here is exceptionally delicious, the service is great and the atmosphere is welcoming. I am never done eating at this awesome place and its been 15 years for me. I am happy Philadephia has a truly authentic Indian restaurant with appetizing quality in food and excellent service. Really thanks for my indian buddy

New Delhi is our go to place for Indian food in University City. The service there is great and the food is even better. We usually go for their dinner buffet and they have a variety of different options and kheer for dessert. When we order take out it is always packaged well and I have yet to have a bad meal there.
