Went for dinner on a Friday night. The menu was varied and we liked that they served breakfast and lunch all day. The atmosphere inside was nice and we didnt have to wait to be seated. The eggplant fries were great! However, when my friend ordered the "Mideast Sampler", described as on the menu as hummus, moussaka, and baba ganoush, what she received was hummus, falafel and salad. She questioned the waiter and he brought a menu so she could verify what the menu said, and then he went to check with the kitchen and only then informed us that they just didnt have moussaka that night. My friend selected her meal based on what was listed on the menu and 2/3 of what was listed was not on her plate. The waiter was nice about it and apologetic, and offered a side dish to compensate. In addition, I joined my friends after theyd already ordered drinks, but I was never brought a menu, silverware, or offered a drink. When I finally asked to order an iced tea, I never received it until I reminded the waiter 15 minutes later when meals arrived. The iced tea was unfortunately too over-steeped and bitter to even drink. I also was not brought the side dish I had ordered until I asked again for it. Overall - Some of the food was very good (eggplant fries, fish sandwich), but the service was not the best, and we often did not get what we had ordered. My friend pointed out that the kitchen is either not communicating with the wait staff or thinks no one will notice if they change 2/3 of a dish. My friend was not charged for the substitute side, but was still charged full price for the Mideast Sampler that was not at all what she ordered.

Decided to try this Deluxe Diner in Newton Center out this weekend. I ordered the Turkey dinner. The mashed potatoes were cold, the gravy on top of the turkey as lumpy and cold. When I told the waitress the mashed potatoes were cold she said, "Oh we can heat them up for you" I thought she was going to replace the mashed potatoes and replate. She proceeded to take my plate and put the whole plate in the microwave!!! right in front of my eyes. The potatoes were now warm but the turkey was all dried up. Honestly, very disappointed, it could not have been much worse. The new manager needs to manage the food service so that something like this never happens again. Not going back and would not recommend the place.

This is the same owner and diner as the Deluxe Town Diner in Watertown. Both make great pancakes! Thats what brings me back each and every time. The wait can be long but for 2 sometimes not terrible. The restaurant interior is done in a steam punk revival which is cool. The building is really nice, there isnt a lot of seating, but its an old station house for the trolley that still runs actively and stops there which still has working signs saying when the train is arriving. The other food is good too, breakfast burrito, eggs, etc. They also have a full bar for those who like alcohol with brunch or lunch or dinner!

If you give this place any less than three stars you can never be pleased. I think the chronic table wait speaks for itself. For a "diner" it has a lot of ambiance and it serves more than comfort food. The fare is more than just eggs and pancakes. You can get a decent dinner entree with flavors more complex than you would experience at a typical dinner. The garlic/sun dried tomato sauce with their sirloin steak is scrumptious...And I specifically like the place because of items like the mediterranean plate. It contains things that I would not encounter at other restaurants.

When my dates mediterranean wrap had stuff in it that wasnt on the menu, the manager came over to argue with us! "Were not legally obligated to list everything that we put in the dishes blah blah blah." Dont go here unless youre prepared to find onions, pickled turnip, whatever, randomly added to your sandwich. I foolishly went a second time, only to leave after 15 minutes when I had been completely ignored at my table, not even given a menu (at 1:15 on Wednesday afternoon, not busy at all).

Station Diner is one of the greatest places to eat lunch in Newton. 1. Breakfast all day. Great omelettes, hash browns, and supremely delicious french toast. 2. Salads, sadnwiches, wraps, are awesome. 3. Nice cocktails and a good beer selection. 4. Lots of seating. Service is hit or miss--there are a few waitstaff who have been there for a long time who are great, but the rest are so so. A must for great diner food and working lunches.

For my best friend and I this is our go to stop for great food! I can bring my 2 kids (4 and under) they love the funky train station atmosphere and the food. The menu is so extensive there is always something to hit the spot be it breakfast or a turkey dinner. We literally can spend hours there talking and munching. Also I can have a cocktail or wine! A Diner with booze?!? Yes please!

This diner is literally at the Newton Centre (green D) T stop. Its a laid back place where there are dinner specials but you can order breakfast all day. The service is friendly and unhurried, though not inattentive. The draft beers change every so often and they always have a nice selection. The decor is mechanical and looks a bit steampunk. Its an odd place, but charming in a way.

Young guy who greeted us pointed on where we could sit. 1st time coming here. Didnt tell us about the menus, didnt give us silverware. Server was cool. Food was good. If I had to judge it based on walking in, would give 1 or 0 star. I know Im in Boston and some places are rude, but you just cant be these days if you want your business to last.

Place is good, but can be hit or miss. When theyre on the coffee is great, service is prompt and the diner food is a good value. When theyre off their game, the opposite is true. 1 out of 3 times they run out of things on their menu like condiments or sides. Their pancakes are delicious though!

Deluxe Station Diner has offered a great addition to Newton center the last few years. Their breakfast is amazing! But expect a potential wait (as you would any other breakfast joint on the weekend). Everything I have tried there has been delicious and the staff is friendly and attentive.

A couple of things to like about this restaurant: it has a nice quirky atmosphere; its spacious and never over-crowded; the servers are friendly; and, because it never gets really crowded and loud, its easy to have a conversation in a regular conversational tone. Its a favorite of mine...

Ive been here a few times for lunch. The food is really solid: simple, but made with good ingredients and cooked well. The coffee is brewed well. Add the quirky decor and friendly service, and you can see why this place is quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite.

Great food and service. The coffee is a noteworthy breakfast treat. My only complaint about the Diner, and this is trivial: the seating. The old time wooden benches are just not comfortable. But the quality of the food and drink more than makes up for this.
