We lived in Newtonville for 3 years before ever going to Village and I regret it more than I can explain! If I knew such a delicious breakfast spot was within walking distance from my house I would have been there every weekend. Fortunately we found it before I got pregnant so I was able to spend 9 months nom-ing on delicious hash, home fries and omelets before we moved over to Auburndale. Luckily were not far so we can still make trips over to Village on the weekend. The staff is super friendly, the coffee is great. We even tried out dinner recently with my entire family and we were blown away by the high quality food and the portion size! This is a place I will come to again and again and never get sick of. The only recommendation I have for them is to bring down the spice level of the bloody marys - too hot to enjoy (and I like spicy food!).

I got the breakfast burrito, home fried potatoes and a coffee. I usually swear by chain coffee shops. The coffee here is delicious and piping hot, love it! The burrito was to much for me to finish and it was delicious. The home fried potatoes were cooked to perfection. Just the right crisp to them and seasoned perfectly. The staff is incredibly customer service focused. If I lived local this would be my weekend brunch go to spot. Parking is an issue. On street metered parking only. The good news is that Newton has online parking meter payments through an app called passport parking which is easy to use. Finding an empty spot is another story. If parking was better, this would be a 5

The Village Cafe has become one of our favorite places to eat, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything we have tried has been terrific. Aaron, Tony and the rest of the staff have given us great service. We look forward to working our way through the menu. The must try items are the hash (some of the best we have ever had), chicken club, burgers, pastitsio and pancakes. You will not be disappointed!

We had high hopes but were disappointed. Lemon pancakes thick and dry tasted like a mix, covered with whipped cream with a marginal amount of lemon buried somewhere in the middle. No eggs benedict except on weekends. Eggs over medium were eggs over easy. Toast was unremarkable. I would check out somewhere else. Maybe it was no a good cook day.

The wait staff are kind and professional. The food is excellent and the ambiance is halfway between a diner and a restaurant, which is probably why they call it the Village CAFE! At any rate, prices are really reasonable for the food you get! Enjoy! (And Im not even getting a kickback!)

Food is great, cooked to perfection. However the diner was not that packed and it took a little bit for our orders to get taken, but there were only two servers on at the time. No free refills either unfortunately kept it away from a 5 star rating.

Once you find the place, everything else falls into place. Good good, atmosphere is pleasant, local people all around...where else in newton is there a good breakfast place on the North Side? menu varied for both breakfast and lunch.

Are outside on the street. I very much enjoyed the pancake egg sandwich. My son and hubby enjoyed eggs, hash and home frys. Some yummy sounding sweet pancake and French toast option. Nice pick and choose section on menu.

Best place on the north side of Newton for breakfast or lunch! Friendly staff and terrific food. Try the homemade potato chips of french fries! I love the chicken lemon rice soup. Homemade Greek salad dressing is awesome too!

This is a great restaurant with homemade foods and fresh fruit. The breakfast hash is superb. Very friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere. I meet clients and conduct business here with plenty of space and good food.

Terrific service, hefty portions and high quality breakfasts. My only suggestion would be to raise the level of the coffee and offer at least a little maple syrup as part of the meal. Cannot stand that fake sticky stuff.
