Came with my wife and 8 year old daughter and put our name on the list for a table. None available yet so hostess said we could order pizza as takeout and sit at a takeout table outside. That works. Headed out and we were the only people out there because it was cold and buggy, so we told waitress sorry, we want to go back to plan A. Hostess was cool with that but the owner came out with a hostile attitude and said that since we said wed gone outside they wouldnt seat us because we were now a carryout customer (1 kitchen). I said my daughter is cold, just relax, we changed our mind, move us down the list and when a table is free, could we please sit inside. Again, major arrogance - "we wont seat you" almost like shes angry. Seriously? Were regular customers. "Yes seriously". She leaves, wife puts on her sweatshirt, bugs going crazy, daughter starts to cry. I go back inside to revisit this with her. Can we talk about this? "you wont understand, theres nothing to discuss". As a business owner, Im incredulous. And as a dad, Im furious. Lastly, and the owner was not aware of this, it was my wifes birthday so on top of it all... Ugh. What a truly unpleasant experience. We came home with our cold pizza and played board games. Hey whats one customer?

Pi Pizza is an awesome restaurant serving hot fresh amazing wood fired pizza. They also serve italian american food and have daily specials. The bar is a whos who on Nantucket, serving italian wine and the ultimate cocktails. Everyone is treated as a local in the place! The owners go out of there way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Open year round it is truly one of Nantuckets best kept secrets! Reading others comments about the wait for Take Out or a busy restaurant. Understand, that they have 1 pizza oven and are making pizzas as fast as they can, and in the summer its packed. 2 this is artisan pizza made in a 900º wood fired oven, theres supposed to be some char on the crust, this is not Dominos! They use fresh seasonal ingredients, and everything is home made.

Having eaten at Pi Pizza about 5 times in the past year, I would say that the pizza and service is inconsistent. My first experience was excellent, pizza was delicious and service was great. I understand the congestion in the restaurant. I also understand being out of ingredients with the restaurant being on an island. However, I think it is unacceptable that the restaurant on the last visit allowed another patron to have their cat in the restaurant. Animals do not belong where food is being prepared and served. If you are eating with two or more people get there when the restaurant opens. If you are eating with children I suggest lots of activities because the wait time on pizza can be up to an hour. Dining in is better than the take away.

Pi is one restaurant on Nantucket that is consistently busy year-round. Id guess they have 10-12 tables plus take-out. Its the real deal. No slop served here. Man, they make great pizza. The pasta dishes are tasty + good portions, the prices are on the low end, and the restaurant is cozy as can be. I only wish they delivered. On second thought, if they delivered Id be eating too much pizza. I know they do a big take-out business but the dining room and bar are so pleasant that we almost always eat there. In the summer we order our pizzas in the late afternoon for an evening pickup. They are very busy in the summer. Super place.Oh, and the bar is fun if theres a wait.

Four of us ate there on 9/12 at 15 minutes after they opened. We let our waiter know right away that we had another commitment, but he was not adequately attentive to our time constraints. We first waited quite awhile before our entries came, then one meal was delivered almost 10 minutes after the other three. Two orders of Chicken Piccata were terrible (the chicken cutlets were too thick and tough, and the "sauce" was lacking). It was hard to get a wait staffers attention when we needed to get our check in order to make it to another commitment. Our meals and dining experience were truly not up to the $150 we spent.

PI Pizza is the best pizza on the island. It is very thin crust, Neapolitan-style pie. Sometimes it has a nice char (thats not burnt folks, thats how it should be), but too often the pizza is wet and soggy. The problem, I suspect, is that customers want over-topped and char-free pie. So, as is often the case with Neapolitan-style pizza, less is more. Order a marinara, a margherita or a Rustica. If you want a mass-market style pie, you will be happier at the Muse or Steamboat or Sophie Ts. I would say the pizza varies from a 2 to a 4. The worst pizza Ive had was the clam. The best was the rustica.

Excellent lunch, friendly staff. Two of us had lunch - I had marinara pizza with pepper and onion. Not many places have no-cheese on the menu. Crust was great - crisp, not much droop, but charred perfectly and soft on top. San Marzano sauce was peppery but just right. It was lunchtime and on a Thursday, with no wait. Unclear to me what some people dont like about the place. It was pleasant inside, and we got quick service and had a great lunch. I make my own thin crust pizza and am not so easy to please.

I tried Pi Pizzeria a number of times when they first opened and every time they burnt the crust. I worked in a Pizzeria for several years and burnt crust went in the trash or we at least offered another pizza. They looked at me like I had 2 heads when I told them it was burnt. Friends that go there tell me they are too often still burning the crust without apology. Want a good pizza with golden brown crust on Nantucket? Go to Sophie Ts.

Food is good but should be taken out to eat. The restaurant is small with hard surfaced floor and ceiling and when full of patrons, incredibly NOISY....(and hot/muggy since the AC was not up to the task even on a reasonably mild night.) Our party could not carry on a normal conversation due to the noise and asked that our order be packaged "to go". Bottom line: avoid eating there unless you bring a megaphone.Eat their food at home.

Regular customer so obviously a fan. If you are looking for a standard pizza to accompany a football game or feed a bunch of kids there may be more appropriate options, but if you are looking for something special this is the place. Sometimes the wait on call-ins can be long in the summer, so plan accordingly. Embrace the char, keep the toppings simple and minimal (or just stick with the menu), and enjoy!

We had an early dinner at the bar and enjoyed our food and drinks with no major problems. My calamari appetizer was a bit overdone. Our entree of pizza was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The bartender kept the drinks coming, had wonderful island recommendations, and provided good conversations. I highly recommend.

We were really looking forward to Pi Pizza, but when we ordered the Margherita Pizza we were very disappointed in the crust so thin it couldnt hold itself up and such a serious lack of mozzarella that we had a piece with no cheese on it! Granted the Rustica was very flavorful but I dont think we will be returning.
