DISAPPOINTING. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR $$. Overpriced and not great quality. I suggest other Chinese places in Malden such as Faloon Restuarant ( better quality/ price and not generic Chinese food and I usually know if a type of cuisine is good if you see people of that ethicity eating there which is the case at Fuloons which has americanized and Authetic chinese food) But I unfortunately live closer to China Garden now which is why I gave it a try BIG MISTAKE. Ok, first of all they dont offer a menu online for dish and price comparision ( its 2013 for goodsakes) and the bill came to $15 for lunch.( I normally work in Boston near South Station/ Chinatown and with that being said that is alot more than I spend for lunch for just 1 person). So walked in and its basically a store front and I ordered the Hot and Sour soup since I had a cold, which was pretty good but cost $3.75 for a small- waaay overpriced( its not Sebastians), and most chinese soups are $2-3 tops for a small. Secondly the fried rice was dry and uninspired and didnt have much flavor to it, no onions or other veggies to mix it up. The General Gao Chicken batter was floury and dry, the sauce was not good at all and the portion was very small, not like the heaps you get from other Chinese restaurants.Very disappointing and wont be a repeat customer and overall I prefer Thai or Vietnamese cuisine, not Chinese fast food. :(

The General Gaus chicken that I purchased this evening was DISGUSTING!!!! I know that recipes vary among restaurants and everyones taste buds are different. With that said, the sauce that was gobbed on this chicken dish was so thick that it was inedible (WAY TOO MUCH CORNSTARCH, Yuck) that it could not be stirred with a spoon. Also the dish had absolutely no hint of spice (not one itty bitty little fleck of red chili pepper to be found folks and no broccoli. There were cubes of canned pineapple on top which was the only edible part of the dish. I have never written a yelp review before good, bad, or otherwise, and have never really returned or complained about take out food before , but this food was just that bad that I decided to call the restaurant to express my disatisfaction When I explained that this dish was inedible., the owner made no attempt to rectify the matter just told me that people like this popular dish no offer to refund my money or attempt to remake the dish , so I can add poor Customer Service to the list of reasons to never purchase from this place again. I only gave this 1 star as Yelp will not let you give it a zero.

I tell you what, if a zombie apocalypse ever hits and you can break the windows to get in and cook food with what was left, then definitely go here. Otherwise, dont waste your breath ordering, time waiting, or "cash only" money. I called and ordered delivery at 7:00. 8:00 roams around and Im starving. I call to check in and hear, "Yes, its on its way. We dont have it in the system because it went out." Oh okay, coolsies. EXCEPT IT WASNT. It wasnt coming, and by the time he called me at 8:30 to tell me he never placed my order but can send it now, I was hangry AF. But if its free its for me, so lets let them deliver. HA...they still wanted me to pay for it! Yeah um, NO. Moral of the story: Order from Great Chow. Youre welcome.

I have to write to rebut the prior review. China Garden has the best Chinese food Ive ever eaten! Their egg rolls are sublime, kung pow chicken is perfect, lo mein & rice are always perfectly done ~ everything is fresh & the quality of the meats & vegetables is top notch. Its not a place to sit down, its a take out. A pretty good indication of its popularity was the 4 hour wait time at 4:00 p.m. last New Years Eve afternoon. Im picking up dinner there tonight!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE !!! I saw some good reviews in the internet about this place, and I ordered orange beef. The orange beef was looking like vomit, a tasteless ( I mean literally tasteless, no kidding!!) white vomit!!!!!!!! I call the guy to complain about the food and he was very rude with me. I dont recommend to my worst enemy to eat in this place, its really, really, really terrible. Run from this place !!!!!!!!

I ordered shrimp fried rice and it tasted like it like it had clorox in it. This was one of the worst Chinese food that I have had. I do not recommend China Garden. I also had their chicken fingers and everything all together tasted like it was not fresh food and had been sitting there. I was very disappointed I could not finish the food after the second bite of my shrimp fried rice.

Ive been going there for thirty years and never had a problem. Best Chinese takeout food in Malden, Medford, Everett area, by far. In the last few years, Malden has added no fewer than a dozen new Chinese restaurants in Malden Center, so its hard to say which is the best now; they are all good. But for delivery and takeout - China Garden still rules.

The worst place not really clean I was waiting for my food and I could see the whole thing , fryer oil very old, chicken wings you get one or 2 big pces on the top and the rest is small or old, they dont accept credit cards just cash, the utensils they use are reused between orders, the wok is washed with a 1/2 floor broom...

I also think this place has the best Chinese food in the metro Boston area. China Garden is a take-out restaurant, so dont plan on eating there. Also, they only accept cash, so have some handy! Dont forget to stop at Kappys on the way home!
