The food is very good, on par with other hipster burger joints but Wahlburgers has split personality disorder. They have 3 distinct operations going on in one restaurant. Quick service, sit down service and a bar. Everyone that came through the door needed a 1 minute explanation from the hostess as to what the various lines and seating areas are for. Confusingly the sit-down service seating was up front, making it impossible for those wanting quick service seating to see where to go or if there is even availability. We waited over an hour for our quoted 40 minute wait time. Our table sat prepd for 10 minutes before we were taken to it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu but the service was slow overall. Drinks came out with paper cups and paper wrapped baskets, just like it comes out of the quick service line. I expected a little nicer of an experience here. The OFD burger is great as is the Wahlsauce. The onion rings were good (lots of pepper) but fell apart easily making them hard to eat without making a mess. The sweet potato tater tots were excellent, crispy on the outside, softer in the middle. The fluffernutter is a straight up comfort food desert but not really something to seek out. Overall I Wahlburgers needs to pick what it wants to be. At minimum I think they need to ditch the table service. Its just too confusing for customers.

My wife and I, are on our ultimate road trip across the USA. We left Central California two weeks ago and had long anticipated going to Wahlburgers not only for burgers but to purchase t-shirts for our kids and grandkids. Well the burgers were excellent, and at a very reasonable price. Plus our waitress, Kristen, recommended the onions rings, and she was right, they are outstanding. The place was very busy and still our food was delivered after a very short wait. There were plenty of servicers and people working behind the counter which obviously contributed to the swift service. Then my wife asked about the shirts and Kristen brought them out to our table and assisted my wife through the lengthy purchase. She did great in helping us be sure we got what we wanted and even got the manager, Mark, to check in back for a size that was not available in the normal storage area. He found it and she delivered it to us. To top it all off, Mark comped our meal in a classy move stating that this is the kind of people the Wahlburgs are and that they want to show their appreciation to us for making their restaurant one of our important stops out of all the places in the Boston area to eat. Hopefully we will have another chance to eat at a Wahlburgers again one day, maybe in California.

I had heard great things so we tried it. The burgers were underwhelming. I ordered crispy bacon as an add on, and received fatty, almost raw bacon. Also we ordered frappes with our meal and got them after the food was done. When I asked about them, I was told good things take time. I watched our waitress and she never checked on the status of our order. Considering that shakes take the least amount of time to make from what we ordered, I was a bit put off by this response. They forgot one of the three and it took almost ten minutes to arrive after they acknowledged that. They offer 3 different seating options. One is basically fully waited. If given the option I always choose this because if you have waitstaff on, they are working for tips. After my experience, I recommend - dont. I spent the rest of the night having stomach issues. I am sorry to say that if you want a decent burger with a frappe, for the same price point, go to five guys or uburger. If you want a boozy frappe and a chance to see one of the Wahlburgs, I guess go here.

Served cold burgers, but I still took a bite figuring perhaps the middle would be warm and it had just been sitting for a few minutes waiting for the other one. Nope-upon trying, I found that the burger was RAW. So wasnt my boyfriends. I took mine back and told them, and my boyfriend did the same a few seconds later when he saw his was- the "cook" asked him if it needed to be cooked more? He was stunned at the question, as he had just told him it was raw and cold. The manager took care of that and had new burgers cooked. Those ones were fine when they arrived properly cooked. But the sweet-potato tater tots were barely warm and a soggy mess. My (non-alcoholic) shake was pricey, small, and had barely any flavor. I only ate half of the sweet potato tots and half of my burger. Yet 10 minutes into our ride home, both of us were sick to our stomachs. We were both up sick all night. Id suggest staying far away from this place, unless you want to pay a lot of money for food poisoning.

I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere but I do have a few issues with my experience. I was a little disappointed that the burgers were as small as they were they were more like sliders and the onion rings were VERY THIN they should be called "angel hair onion rings" thats how thin they are! I was shocked the brothers didnt spring for actual plates to eat off of and real glasses. The place was clean, staff was nice, and it wasnt busy. I suggest making sure that the staff doesnt accidentally leave anything inside of your burger because they are so busy chatting with each other waiting for guests that they didnt pay attention to the fact that they left a meat cooking stick inside my burger and served it to me. Luckily I didnt bite down too hard on it and crack a tooth I just noticed it and pulled it out.The place is fun to go and see if youre a fan of the brothers but its a novelty. I will be going back to 5-guys.

Came here on the Grand Opening Day-which we had no idea about. We took an Uber from Downtown Boston (which was only $30) and were very surprised on the location. The marketplace that its in is very nice with plenty of shopping and other activites. We had an hour wait and it ended up being more like 25 minutes. The staff was helpful and seemed very happy. (Its always nice when people enjoy their job) I was ready for the food to be "all hype" and a regular burger, however, it was honestly the best burger I have ever eaten! I got Donnies pick with onion rings. The burger was fresh and full of flavor. The onion rings were amazing with the Wahl sauce and there was enough for the whole table!!! I wish we had one close because I could go for another burger now. Go! You wont regret it! (Be sure to have a cupcake, too!! AMAZING!)

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE ANY GLUTEN/DAIRY ISSUES! We ordered to-go from here a couple of weeks ago. As usual, I vehemently specified "GLUTEN-FREE" and "NO CHEESE" due to those allergies. I always do this at the beginning of the order and then confirm again when the order is ready. When we got home, the burgers had cheese on them - which we had to scrap off. But the worst part was that the regular, gluten-laden BUNS were also "snuck in" - this was not apparent until the allergic reaction occurred, requiring a trip to urgent care. Their burgers taste fine, but I think the problem is that this business (like many) likes to exploit cheap, teen-age labor that is untrained/careless in dealing with food allergies.
