Passports had always been my favorite restaurant- great food, wonderful staff, and nice ambience. Had I ever reviewed this restaurant prior to today, I would have given it 5 stars. When we had out of town guests, this is where we brought them. We recommended Passports to all our North Shore friends. Nothing made us happier than starting the meal with their warm popovers. Only once in all the years we had eaten there, did we have a problem, and it was only that The chef did not know how to cook a steak properly, so we just didnt order steak there after that. Being Gloucester, they had always been great at seafood. So we kept coming as everything else was so tasty….up until last evening when I took my husband there for his birthday. During supper, neither of us wanted to complain to the other about our food as we did not want to ruin the other persons enjoyment of the celebratory evening, but upon our return home, we finally confessed to each other our disappointment. First of all they were out of fish and scallops (our favorites) so instead we ordered two different lobster dishes. Each dish had serious problems- my lobster was really small, tough and tasteless (I felt I had to eat it all anyway- could not waste $24 ) and the broth bases for both of our entrees tasted as if they had been sweetened with sugar -so much so that my husband pretended he was full after eating about a third of his lobster stew. The fried ice cream we shared tasted like it had been in the freezer too long, and we could not finish that either. I just want to say that this experience was SO unlike Passports, that all we could imagine is that they had a substitute chef or something as there had to be SOME reason for this. I dont expect we are going to risk going back anytime soon. We do adore the staff, especially the Boucher sisters, so we are sorry to be leaving.

What a great little find this is on Cape Ann. Small but very nice establishment with excellent service and reasonable prices. The menu seams to change all the time to accommodate local food availability. They start the experience with a basket of fresh popovers that are some of the most delicious that I have ever had. The service was very friendly and you never felt as though you were rush even though there are always people waiting to be seated. I would suggest you check Passports out and enjoy what they have to offer. Parking is a bit tough as it is right downtown but you will make do, I have faith.

Delicious and warm atmosphere. This place has a very diverse and interestingly delightful menu. It was hard to choose, but the staff was very friendly and informative. The meals were more then the price, with fabulous presentation, fresh ingredients and innovative recipes! We were so luck to have found such a great little gem in town! Oh and the free fresh bread was excellent!

I split the fried oysters as an appetizer (excellent) with my wife, and had a wonderful seafood pasta special, where my wife had the Mexican bouillabaisse. Both were excellent and had a ridiculous amount of seafood. Ordering the appetizer was apparently a mistake as there was so much for with mains we were unable to finish.

Cozy place to actually relax .... Food is great I just have one wish, that they serve a wider range of champagne like; Möet Chandon, or Vueve Clicquot... I dont love having to drink the Proseco with my delicious meal. This is not a deal breaker for me, this place makes me feel at home and the staff and food is delightful.

Adventurous dinner choices, friendly service, reasonable prices, more than adequate portions. Will definitely be back. Apps: mushroom tart and ahi tuna-excellent. Dinner: mango salmon- very fresh and tender. Nice kick from the mango salsa. Pork chop dish and haddock special were delicious.

Fun menu, quirky but generally friendly service once we got by a small misunderstanding. Food for lunch was very good. Too many things we wanted to try on the menu. Banh mi was a pleasant update, and excellent, if not fully authentic. Would definitely recommend and return.

Got the 12oz sirloin. Was surprised at the quality of the cut of meat, just not in a good way. Could have been a fluke, the grilled veggies were great and honestly the bread they give you as a starter is amazing, Great selection of bottled beer but few drafts.

The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. The rolls they served were hot and fresh. They were definitely homemade. I would definitely recommend the Bahn Mi sandwich, it was so flavorful and fresh. The food, service and prices were great!

Came here on recommendation from our Air BnB hosts, and couldnt be happier! Piping hot popovers, and excellent main courses. The Asian short rib was incredible, and came in a huge portion.

The suggestion we received to go here did not disappoint. Amazingly quick service, deliciously fresh food. If I lived in the area this would be a weekly go-to place.
