Ive been to MET for both Brunch and dinner. I love their 5 STAR LOCATION on busy Newbury Street. They offer a recessed (AKA hidden from your spouse) outdoor deck with thick, padded benches and huge, shade umbrellas. (NOT out with your wife tonight? this reviews for YOU!) I loved their SERVICE a little less than their food. Our waitress was friendly, but not enough to make what she referred to as a "Starbucks Coffee." All I requested was a "specialty coffee with caramel or chocolate syrup," which I know they DO have there. She mocked me and gave me a bland ice tea. This resulted in our final bill being 2 Back Bay $6 coffees less...and her tip $2 less too. (If management is reading this: use your hersheys syrup from the bar and charge more for fancycoffee.) THE FOOD is NOT CONSISTENT: At brunch, I had the "Captain Crunch French Toast," which was burnt and flavorless. Instead of being crunchy and sweet...it was neither. I LOVE "Frosted Flake French Toast," and was a bad knock-off. I had a juicy burger full of gourmet goodness the next visit. Unfortunately, their fries are greasy shoe strings...and Im a fresh cut, thick fry girl.

The food is good, although it is overpriced which is understandable because it is on Newbury Street. However my friends and I were hit hard by the additional costs of water and bread! The waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling water and I wasnt sure what still was, but I was sure that sparkling would be expensive so I opted for the still. The water came in a large glass bottle that was already opened so I assumed that they were pouring tap water into the glass bottle. They refilled the bottle for us and asked if we wanted any bread while we were waiting. The four of us agreed to eat while waiting for another friend. After enjoying our meal, our waitress informed us that the cost of bread and water for our group would be TWENTY DOLLARS. Each bottle of water was $7 and the bread was $6. We thought this was absolutely ridiculous because the waitress had not informed us that the water and bread werent complimentary. Obviously we didnt ask because almost every restaurant offers complimentary water and bread! Extra costs like this will increase their revenue, but will ultimately cause them to lose customers.

Meeting a friend in downtown Boston for after-work drinks, I was interested in trying Met Back Bay on the corner of Newbury St and Dartmouth since my friend had recommended it. We sat outside in the beautiful Newbury St seating - that is, until we were informed that we had to order food to sit outside. As we both had dinner plans, we opted to move inside. We chose a table in the underground bar area, but it took quite a while for a server to notice us and bring us our drinks. My friend had a cocktail while I had a local microbrew beer. The drinks were good but place became really busy and loud, and the service wasnt terribly attentive. It took forever both outside and inside to be greeted by a server and actually served. The bathroom was also pretty horrible, with many of the stalls without toilet paper and/or looking very rough. If youre going for food, sit outside and enjoy the amazing space. However, if youre just going for drinks I wouldnt recommend it very highly.

I live across the street from here and have been dying to try it. I dont understand why the reviews arent higher--its really good! We went here for brunch this weekend and it was amazing! First they serve brunch tell 3:30 which is great for late sleepers. They have an extensive beer list and great salads too. The club sandwich is massive and really good - you could split this between 2 people if you got an appetizer or werent very hungry or if youre a smaller girl. Great salads (huge!) and the chicken hash skillet off the brunch menu is AMAZING! Cool vibe and the basement bar is fun with TVs for a Sunday funday or weeknight game. In the summer they have a huge outdoor patio too. Will definitely be back.

Once again. I do not understand how this place only has 3.5 stars. This is one our favorite restaurants and one of the few places which we return to on a regular basis. Weve eaten here several times and have never had a meal we didnt enjoy completely. The last time we ate here with a group of 4. We ordered all of the veggie plates to share which worked well for the group. My wife ordered salmon and enjoyed it. I had steak tips which we delicious. The have a great wine list. Our tab was pretty reasonable coming in under $100 with food, drink and tip. This place is always busy, so definitely make reservations so you dont end up waiting and getting hungry.

Ive come here several times for drinks and apps, but never a full dinner. - On the weekends, they have BYOBM: Build Your Own Bloody Marys. This is great for those adventurous friends who you want to top as many things on your Bloody Mary with. The highlight Is that you can add a whole mini burger as a garnish on your drink. Everyone will be staring at you in awe. The Bloody Mary itself is very pulpy and spicy already. Im not sure I liked it. I did like the slider, though. - Salmon/tuna tartare is okay. The taro chips are really interesting with a flaky and light, crunchy texture. - All the drinks that Ive tried here are strong, but usually around $14-15.

My wife and I were on holiday visiting Boston and New England we found The Met by chance on our last evening in Boston. The staff were efficient and friendly and took the time to explain their menu to us. The food was great and quickly served with ne rush to leave our seats. Two weeks later we returned to Boston and found that we were staying close to the Met restraunt. We Had breakfast every day (3) before returning to the UK. Unfortunately I do not have any names by remember one of the waiters supported Chelsea. Im an Aresenal supporter and they played last Saturday. Arsenal won 3-0 so sorry my friend the better team won! Great Restraunt and staff !!

This is a fiver yes a five star location. It is one of the few places you can eat outside on Newbury St. It is set down a little from street level and surrounded by bushes so the people watching will be the people on the street and not you but regardless you are outdoors! The food is good but not home run good. I think I agree with the consensus in that it is a 3.5 to 4 star in food quality. This is the best late breakfast or brunch place ...ya know a place to hang out on during weekend mornings. I have had a mimosa and the french toast here and they were good. Burgers are a safe bet... well done and reasonable priced.

We sat outside and the service was SLOW. Not just for our table. I felt bad the table next to us didnt even get their drink order for first 10-15min... Our waiter would be missing for a while and such. The food was pretty good. I would recommend 3 out of the 4 dishes we ordered. We had the Avocado toast (Good), Half Dozen Oysters (Fresh), Green Gru (VERY DISAPPOINTING - the menu said it has avocado, radish... where it was 1/4 avocado and 1 slice of radish in it. it was really overwhelmingly kale-full salad.), Truffled Mushroom & Asparagus Flatbread (Good & loved the asparagus on it!)
