We visited the Met Bar in the Natick Mall because we have walked/ driven by it many times, but never had dinner there. The place was perceived as an upscale/ modern restaurant, so we thought the food may reflect it. Once we walked up to the menu posted outside of the restaurant, we noticed that it contained mostly burgers... fancy burgers. On the other side of the menu, there were other items such as a small steak selection, appetizers, salads, pasta... the usual. After checking in, we were seated almost immediately at a shared bench/ booth in a fairly cramped area. The waitress stopped by within 5 minutes of our seating, and asked if would like to start with a drink. I ordered a Chopin Martini (which was very good and well mixed), and two waters. Upon delivering my Martini, I ordered a Salmon and Tuna Tartare. The Salmon had a slight "fishy" smell, but the Tuna was good. Maybe the Tunas "fishy" smell was masked by the spicy mayo that was mixed in, but it was OK. The waitress checked in with us shortly after my appetizer delivery and asked if we were ready to order. My Fiance order a Caesar Salad with a side of grilled salmon, and I ordered a dry aged NY Sirloin - rare, and a side of garlicky spinach. While we waited for our dinners, we were not offered any bread, like any other restaurant would have. It wouldnt have been a huge deal, until I started to eat my steak. The first bite was decent, however, it just went down-hill from that point. My dry aged steak was "veiny" and chewy. The five-pepper blend was nice, but it was almost like chewing a five-pepper flavored "gum". I had to forfeit about 40% of the steak because of the veins and fat. The garlicky spinach was good. My Fiances Caesar Salad wth a side of grilled salmon was not what she expected. The dressing didnt taste like Caesar dressing as it appeared pink/ salmon in color. The grilled salmon was dry and a little "fishy"; more so than it should have been as we have salmon on a weekly basis at home. Once the dinner plates were cleared, we were offered a dessert menu. Nothing on it intrigued me, and my Fiance half-heartedly ordered a Toll-House Cookie Pie because she was not satisfied from her dinner. The pie was presented on a plate with 3 chocolate covered pretzels. The pie looked "store-bought" and the chocolate pretzels were obvious not "home-made". My Fiance was quite disappointed in the "pie", which had more of a cake texture. While she chiseled away slowly at the pie, I had a decaf coffee. Our experience didnt WOW us; especially on a $90 bill. I would have rather gone to the food court and had the sushi there.

I walked in with a friend to have lunch and found no personnel anywhere in sight. No waiters, no one to seat us, no one at the bar. Took a seat at the bar and waited between 6 to 10 minutes. After no one appeared to provide services we walked to the kitchen area and asked a dishwasher if there was anyone working or if there was a strike going on? After another five minutes a young "lady" appeared and I jokingly asked if they were on strike? She immediately became hostile and loudly begun to explain that she had been busy retrieving food for other costumers. There were only two people already seated at a table. She then continued to explain her situation ending up with calling us rude, for not respecting the fact that she was busy serving costumers other than us. Irinically, my friend hadnt said a word to her but in her view he was rude as well. I told her I owned a business and usually an unsatisfied costumer gets an apology, not be loudly called rude. I asked for her managers phone number and she provided the number while assuring me that she will call the manger as well, to insure that the manager will know how rude we were to her. At this point I looked up the restaurant ratings on my phone and noticed their quite low rating reviews at which point I said to her there is no wonder for the low ratings. She became louder yet stating that if I continue to harass her she was going to ask us to leave. We left before I could give her the satisfaction. The Met Burger gets one star review from me only because there is not a lower rating option. First and LAST visit in this extremely poorly run place.

Had dinner with a friend on a Wed. night, not busy at 5:30PM so no wait. Got our drinks promptly and ordered caesar salads and steaks. Our waitress then disappeared and we didnt see her again for 35 minutes. We were busy talking but after those 35 minutes kind of wondered what the heck happened...then she showed up with our steak dinners! No one offered us water, nor bread and butter, and we both had empty glasses by the time she got returned with dinners. The steaks were okay and cooked correctly. but again, she never offered anything else and we had to ask her what happened to our salads?? "Oh, no one got those for you??" as if it were someone elses responsibility and not hers. We asked that they be removed from the bill, and she agreed. She asked if we wanted another round of drinks, and we said yes. But again, no water, no B&B, clueless! It will be quite a while before I return to Met Bar, if then.

Atmosphere is great but thats where it ended. I rarely write bad reviews since I am pretty easily pleased when it comes to dining out. First off the matradee had an attitude that words couldnt even explain so I wont try. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad with grilled chicken for somewhere around $15. The chicken was so dry and overcooked that it was stringy. My date order salmon which looked beautiful but was grossly undercooked according to how she requested it. My date also ordered a red sangria which was basically red wine with ice. My drink was outstanding. I ordered a Sam Adams seasonal, thanks Sam Adams! My observation was that the place lacked management. I didnt see a person over 25 overseeing the place. If you closed your eyes and ate the food, you would have thought you were in a cafeteria. Save your money and go somewhere else. Trust me!

I was just going through some old paperwork and found a receipt for Met Bar & Grill. I was surprised because I couldnt recall going there. Looking closer at the receipt, I saw the order placed was a Met Single, substitute coleslaw (instead of fries, extra charge for that) and 2 Bud Lights. Okay, that sounded like a typical order for me. I still couldnt recall the visit though! Thought about it some more, looked it up online and bam!...oh yeah, shouldve not wasted another minute thinking about one of the most boring burgers I ever had in my life. If this was the 99 or Friendlys, it probably wouldnt have mattered....but they are a BURGER Bar. The ambience was great, the staff was friendly and the seats comfy, but the place not being crowded at 5:PM should have been a tip off.

I would love to leave a great review, but I cant. The atmosphere is outstanding, but the food was just okay and the service was horrible. Four friends on a Saturday evening without reservations at 830pm....10 minute wait: A+ Good menu with a lot of choices: A+ Having to wait for over 40 minutes for a burger and then having it cooked wrong: C- Out of the four meals, 3 were cooked or prepared wrong. I settled for what came out, my friends sent theirs back. At least the manager came over, apologized and comped the burgers. I would go again because I think one bad experience should not ruin it.
