AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET HUMILIATED! Terrible experience, racist waitress, was getting irritated at first for asking which all Scotch they offered as none of it was listed on the drinks menu. She was exchanging looks with a coworker and laughing on asking a couple of questions about the drinks and their price. This is how they treat tourists and new people in town who might not be aware of things on New years eve!! Even before sitting she was more keen to kick us out as they were starting to charge cover after 9pm, which was fine by us because we hadnt decided yet what our plan was, but after this treatment we didnt want to stay anyways! They literally didnt even let us finish our drinks and were just trying to push us out as soon as possible even though the place was empty!!! This is how customers are treated on New years eve at this place! On leaving I mentioned this to the manager, about the waitress getting irritated and not treating us properly for no reason. All he had to say was "okay, have a good night". I hope they learn how to treat customers and not make their racist thoughts so obvious.

I was sitting at a table for 20 minutes waiting for a waitress to show up with no result. I guess I could go around the bar looking for somebody to work with me but I was tired after a day at a conference and just wanted to eat something, have a beer, and go to the hotel. Working on getting somebodys attention was not among my plans. Granted, the table I was sitting at was at the window with a direct line of sight between it and the bar area blocked by a large staircase. But if you are not going to check on a table from time to time, why even put it there? Its particularly strange because I had dinner here at the same table the day before and everything was fine.

I have been to Lir a few times over the past month, and each time the staff has been extremely rude, the bartenders in particular. They ignore customers who want drinks, and when they do serve you, they are abrupt and impolite. When I said "Excuse me" to a bartender who was completely ignoring me while I was trying to get a drink, she barked at me, very curtly, "What do you want?" I usually dont like to write bad reviews, but I witnessed this rudeness myself on a few occasions, and have heard other people complain of the same behavior. I have worked in the service industry myself, and can not imagine treating customers like they do at Lir!

I am reviewing Lir for hosting Arsenal fans all season long as the official bar of fans in the Boston area. The bar opens early just for fans to come watch, and they generally pack the bar with a fun group of fans. The slight drawback is that I think they use DirectTV and when the weather is poor they sometimes lose coverage for the games. They offer beer after a certain time and also serve a pretty good breakfast for a cheap price. At night, Lir draws a much different crowd, and is also typically filled on weekend nights. They have three floors to get your drink on, and when its not too packed you can generally have a pretty good time here.

This is a fine pub. Very pub-y. The atmosphere completely changes for the Arsenal Football Club matches though. I do feel very fortunate that the officially recognized Arsenal pub is in the neighborhood in which I work though. Mike is great, and they have good and local beers on draft. It is a very casual atmosphere in which people can be met and great football can be enjoyed. Again... as hard as it can be to find a bar/pub/restaurant at which to watch a mid-week 3pm match, much less a weekend AM match... this place takes the cake. The best soccer pub Ive seen on the East Coast not in New York.

I like this place for a Boylston St bar. I know some people dont but I think the whole appeal to this bar is the various floors. They have 3 floors and bars on all the floors. The main floor is a big wrap around bar and can be tough to walk through the crowds, the second floor is smaller with a smaller bar but more walking/ standing room, and then the bottom floor has the biggest space for dancing/ hanging out and still a bar. Regular priced drinks, beers, well drinks, nothing fancy here.

Big, spascious, decent bar food and party atmosphere but definitely not for the crowd over 30 on weekend nights. The place gets sloshy and sticky by the end of the night with spilt drinks and barely legal college kids. Dont get me wrong, when I went to Northeastern I frequented here regularly because it is 2 floors and the food was a good price. However, my party and getting it on ways have diminished with age and a better crowd can be found outside of Bolyston St venue.

Fun bar on Boylston. Drinks are fairly standard, but the food is solid. In fact, order some of the bar bites during happy hours, because its priced really low for the quality/quantity. I love sitting in the front on the main level to watch all the people walking by. Pretty sure a big group of Seahawk fans take over the bar upstairs during their games. Sounds like they have a good time. Youve got lots of bar choices in the area, but you usually cant go wrong at LIR.

This place is great. The atmosphere on weeknights is nice. Only problem is lack of seating. They close the upstairs area and you have to fight for tables a little bit. However, the food and drinks are worth the wait. The mac n cheese, calamari, and pot pie are all delicious. Burger is meh. The "boda roja" is a mixed drink and it is surprisingly delightful. Look at the ingredients and youll see why. I dont want to spoil the surprise. Enjoy!

After having a friend short changed during the night (the bartender clearly thought he was intoxicated to get away with this, when we just arrived "her mistake") I was shocked to find an additional $10 charge on my card the next morning, on top of the charge I was expecting to see, tip included. The bartenders were rude, and snippy. I would call this some of the worst service from a bar, and would expect more from Boston.

Classic Irish pub. I come by every Thursday to grab dinner bar bites (get the pizza) and knock back a few $3 beers. The bartenders are very friendly and on top of their game. The TVs always have Boston sports on, plus the Seahawks. On top of that, this is the home base for the Boston Gooners, so every Arsenal FC game is on! See if theyll let you downstairs where theres Foosball and darts.

Fun place to watch sporting events, always a lot of fans for big soccer/rugby games. Waitress are attentive and friendly. They do randomly charge covers for big games and it doesnt seem like they are well organized about it. I went in once before a game had started and was told it was 20$ so didnt go and came back later and they werent charging anyone to get in.

Always flying solo this LIR is so chill and low key. Didnt really care about the game room just good beer at the bar. Great selection of beers, burgers, sandwiches and good ole selection of bratwursts to die for. Nice space for a mature crowd at least when I went Of free parking on the street and a parking garage across the street.
