I never comment the bar/ restaurant even if the service was not the best. However the staff in this pub is so disrespectful to the guests and we have been treated quite badly at the entrance that I surly will not visit this place ever again. Why would I want to leave the money somewhere where I have not been treated properly? We were the group of people who coming back from the conference wanted to drink and eat something. Most of us were tourists, the fact that obviously somehow triggered the guy from the pub to start behaving quite unpleasant and aggressive. We travel a lot but I have never had any bad experience so far when going out. The behaviour of the young man at the entrance was just unacceptable. Pitty, the bars and restaurants should contribute to the good image of Boston. I definitely do not and will not recommend this place. You should feel good about yourself and have a good time especially after a rushy day. And you can always decide where and whom you leave your money.

My brother and I went to Solas to bring our girlfriends out for dinner after a game. We were seated upstairs and after 20 minutes a waitress finally came over and told us we would not be served because we had "stumbled in," and that no one in our party could order alcohol. None of us had even ordered an alcoholic beverage or mentioned it at this time. Our entrance was about as normal as it could possibly be. I have never in my life been refused service. We were offended when our waitress said this to us, and we got up and left. We asked to speak to a manager and when she came out I told her the main reason of our complaint was the fact that we were IDd, let in, sat, and then denied service 20 minutes later, all she could say was "sorry." I hope no one else is disrespected the way that we were.

I have been to Solas a few times and the service and food has always been great! Today, I was in the mood for Fish & Chips. I am originally from England but have been living in the USA for the past 12 years. I have lived in many states and I have tried and tested countless bars & restaurants, in numerous states, looking to find somewhere that cooks fish & chips just like back home. Today, I found that place. The fish and chips at Solas is the tastiest and most authentic dish that I have ever had here in America. The batter on the fish is the key part of good fish & chips and today it was perfect. Even the coleslaw was made just like back home. If you go to Solas to eat, I highly recommend the fish & chips!

If youre going for drinks, its probably a fine place. Do yourself a favor, avoid the food. I ordered a burger, medium rare. Not only did it come out well done, it was utterly bland. One sad tomato and a couple pieces of iceberg lettuce were all that came on it. Bleh. My buddy ordered the crabcake salad. It was a joke. One medium-small crabcake sitting on a small bed of arugula, with 2 (YES 2) cherry tomatoes. No onions, no other types of lettuce. It was actually pretty funny, although my burger was $15 and the "salad" was $17!!! What a freaking rip off. Service was fine. Food was absolute garbage. If you want a nice Irish place in this area, go to Lir up the street.

Small and Cozy with diverse and lively crowd. The ceiling seems to be low and might feel some awkwardness and congestion coz of this. But as you sit down and start having their cocktails, you will start loving the place. The table across the window on upstairs is my favorite as I can feel the authenticity of Boston downtown streets with the lamp post and tree outside the window. The service was good too. The menu choices could be improved. Prices were decent for a downtown restaurant in Boston. Not a calmly ambient style of place but the Irish style ambient place :-)

A very convenient location. On the evening that we visited only the downstairs area was available. It was busy but not so busy that it was impossible to enjoy. The drinks were good, the staff were friendly, The prices were reasonable. The only thing that let it down was the fact that there were multiple TVs with 2 different sports playing, and as a result it was overwhelmingly loud. That is fine if you are a sports bar, but less so when you are an Irish Pub. On a night where there were fewer sporting events on this is probably a really great place.

Pretty good place for grabbing drinks with a group. You can attempt to grab a table or theres plenty of standing room. Menu is pretty extensive. My friends and I ordered a bunch of appetizers to split and found it better this way. Great list of cocktails, beers and liquor. Not just your typical large brews but also plenty of craft brews as well. Bad part is that it can get loud in there at night and hard to get a table. Parking deck is good or can you valet. Great alternative to blackhead!

Staying nearby and felt like a pub meal. My boyfriend and I walked in to get ignored by 3 security guys then a girl went to find us a table before a security guy with a braid checked our id, we showed our Australian licenses. He said We cant except these and showed us to the door. Didnt explain that we needed passports or anything. Was just plain rude, made us feel like idiots. We went to another pub and had a great night. Shame the security were rubbish.

Service is the pitfall of this restaurant. When we entered there was no hostess to direct us when we wanted a table for food. After wondering upstairs and being directed back downstairs to be seated our waitress was slow. Then brought us burnt nachos after waiting more then 20 minutes on a slow night. Ketchup for chicken fingers took 10 since she had to have a chat with the bartender as well as count her tips. Worst experience ever, will never return.

I went here for lunch with a friend of mine and the vibe was super cozy and Irish (shes Irish, she confirmed). She absolutely loves it and wanted to show me why. We sat in a booth/chair hybrid and I got the greek salad with chicken--it was really quite good! She said the Chicken Curry is awesome, and she got the "toastie" sandwich and loved it. I stole a french fry and it was really great too. Next time around, were coming back for some Guiness!

My wife and I are from the west coast and our first time in Boston for a week. Took two days of trolley tours and ate at about 10 different restaurants around town. Very nice people everywhere. At Solas Irish Pub, the people were very nice. Kevin was very friendly and had great food and drink suggestions. We eat there 3 times. Good prices. Very clean. Very very good Chowder (a 5 star). Good Bangers (4 star). Cuban roll was good too (4 Star).

I would give zero stars if this would let me. If serving drinks is putting you out, dont choose to be a bartender! Very nasty service. Our group of 9 had a tab of around $300 on drinks and were made to feel like lepers while the staff showed each other photos on their phones. One bartender took our order then simply left, never came back. So sorry we annoyed you by coming in and spending a lot of money in your establishment.
